Let's start by saying Holiday Inn has lost me as a long time customer ever since my trip to Rochester, NY, but there are times when you find yourself stuck with a Holiday Inn and you just have no other choice. This was one of those times. I booked the hotel online about 3 months in advance for a 2 Queen bed suite. When I arrived I was given a 2 Double bed regular room. When I told the front desk that they gave me the wrong room and that I booked a suite they tried to fix the situation by moving me to a suite but UH OH all the suites were booked and we were forced to stay in a much smaller regular room. The front desk attendant knocked $30 of the stay, gave us a free fridge, and gave us 2,000 extra points for our stay. I appreciate their attempts to make me happy and I know it's not their fault so I accepted and went on with my day. I, however, plan on contacting holiday inn's online booking to complain. The room itself was actually pretty nice and the beds were comfortable. The internet was pretty slow, but still better than most places I've stayed at. The breakfast was pretty stocked with a pancake machine and a really good hot breakfast. Overall my stay was good and the staff was really great, but this mix up has dug up an already sour taste in my mouth about Holiday Inn and I will reiterate that you should always stay somewhere else unless you have no other choice. The worst experience in a hotel, the free breakfast was trash instead of replacing the juice bags in there juice thing they just put it out of order. No pancakes. They omelets were so burnt they were inedible, not to mention the elevator broke n still hasn't been fixed, oh amd we had do not disturb sign but the maid still entered our room n then get squirrelly when I told her she had no right entering our room n she was lucky my service dog was with me n not in the room or she would have been hurt by my dog ( she is territorial) read more

Room good but they billed my card right when I checked in when I told them my husband was come pay in a hour. I was told when I reserved the room that we didn't have to pay till we check out. Yet they billed the card right away. I will talking to a supervisor about that. So why would they bill the room right after you get their. Just hope her birthday gose ok with my crazy schedule. read more

This was a pretty good stay. The sheets in the beds felt like butter they smooth and soft the room was vary clean and so was the rest of the hotel only I think the hallways need a modern lift. The breakfast was like most hotel breakfast but it was tasty and I was satisfied. This hotel had 2 stars in google I think it deserves more than that read more

Clean hotel. The parking lot isn't very large. There's a gravel parking lot in the pack for trucks & trailers. This hotel is a bit outdated compared to other Holiday Inn locations. However, it's great that there is one in Devils Lake. Pet friendly with no added pet charge! read more

Very comfortable for North ND, very cold in March -8 below 0. Takes 20mi. To warm the car in the morning but at the hotel you can have breakfast before you leave and wait for the car to heat. Very quite town and nice people you can see the Chippewa Reservation and the people are really nice. Not a place for vacation but for business it's really comfortable. read more

I stayed at the Holiday Inn Express for 4 nights and was surprised that they never cleaned the room or emptied the garbage during my stay. I have never had this happen. I am sure they would have cleaned it if I would have asked, but I was really curious after realizing they hadn't brought in clean towels or emptied garbage the second day. Staff was nice. Last visit here. Elevator flooring worn, multiple burns / carpet in room 319 looks really rough. Add the fact there is still food in the refrigerator and a used washcloth in the bathtub. Just tells me no one cares at this hotel, from management to staff. Now I am told the shuttle for the airport pickup is 5am. Wait until 5:40am just to be told it will be another 20 min. Hope to make my 6:30am flight. Bad experience all around! read more

Our experience here was lovely. The room was clean, the A/C thermostat had a low battery and was not working and they sent someone to fix it right away, and our customer service was exemplary. Patty down at breakfast was the sweetest woman I have ever met!! She is hands down the best example of how every employee should be at their job. I stayed at this hotel on Aug. 4th for two nights. I doubt if I would stay again. On four different times we got to our room and both keys failed. We had to go back to the desk. Not a big deal, but four times seems a bit much. The cards were not in the same pocket as our cell phones so that eliminates that problem. I will say on one occasion the young lady on duty came with us to our room to be sure they worked. It was very kind of her. More importantly, our room was never touched by housekeeping. We did not put the card on the door for housekeeping to skip us. However, we did hang most of our towels to reuse them. We had two towels we through in the tub that were soiled. Our wastebaskets were overflowing and neither were touched. I incorrectly thought they would take care of us on the second day, but we returned late to the hotel and I honestly did not want to deal with it late at night. Is this a huge deal? No. Nor did I make it a big deal.When we checked out, the staff person did not seem overly concerned and said records showed they cleaned the room. For the record, I was not angry. I told them I just thought they should know. The reaction by the staff was disappointing. read more

I have stayed at this hotel many times over the years, and I have not been disappointed. The staff is generally friendly and helpful. The rooms are spacious for relaxing after a long day at work. Beds are quite comfortable and the TVs are just the right size. The workout facilities are nice, however the room feels a little small (about what you would expect in a small town hotel). Great breakfast, typical of the Holiday Inn Express hotels. Location is excellent, as the hotel sits right on the highway. Overall, I would recommend to others. read more

Let me start off by saying the hotel was clean and looked new and the rooms were nice. The service there however made my stay there very unsatisfactory. We were driving for a while and knew we would arrive late so we called the hotel just to confirm our room was still being held. The phone rang for several minutes before someone answered and then was pretty rude when we simply asked if our room was still available. We arrived there after 1 am and walked up to the front desk. No one was there. We waited for AT LEAST 10 MINUTES before someone arrived, after we had actually called the front desk 2 or 3 times without anyone answering. Finally we yelled, "HELLO?" and a lady came up to us. She checked us in and gave us our room keys. When we stood there for a moment, she asked, "Is there anything else you need?" We thought, Yes maybe you can direct us to where our room is and the elevator, but left it alone. Later we needed change for the vending machine and went back to the front desk only to find it empty again. She came back after we were about to give up and gave us grief for wanting change. Then the next morning, at the continental breakfast, the man in charge of the food was also very rude to us. He would butt in line in front of us to refill something even though there was no one else in line. At one point, there was a young boy who was making 6 pancakes in the machine, and the man yelled out, "Is someone making pancakes?" The boy said, "Yeah I am". The man asked "Do you want 6?" And the boy answered, "Yes I'm going to eat 6." These were silver dollar sized pancakes, not very big. The man sighed exasperatedly like 6 pancakes was the end of the world for him. So then we checked out. We thought our bad experience was over but then I got a call later that day saying my card was declined. It was a debit card and had plenty of money in it and the lady said it kept declining. After checking my statement online, it said the charge was pending. I called and told them there was no reason for the card to decline. They wanted a new card to use, and I refused as money had already been taken out of my account! 3 days later I saw the money in my account was back and no charge had been made. I had to call them and ask them to run the card again and this time it worked. They must have ran the card as an authorization the first time. All in all I'm amazed at how poorly we were treated as this hotel. read more
