Eventually, one of our crew members reached out to let us know that their rooms were rarely cleaned during their week-long stays, and their sheets were not changed even once. Unfortunately, our experience with the manager/owner was just as disappointing. The way I was spoken to on the phone was extremely rude and degrading. I was repeatedly talked over, and there seemed to be absolutely no willingness to listen to or address our concerns. Customer service and professionalism were seriously lacking. After spending a significant amount of money housing our employees here for multiple weeks, we ultimately decided to stop booking with this hotel and move our crew to the Cobblestone instead. The difference has been night and day, and we've had a wonderful experience there. When a company is providing you with consistent, long-term business, basic cleanliness and respectful customer service shouldn't be too much to expect. Unfortunately, neither was provided here.

This was one of those times. I booked the hotel online about 3 months in advance for a 2 Queen bed suite. When I arrived I was given a 2 Double bed regular room. When I told the front desk that they gave me the wrong room and that I booked a suite they tried to fix the situation by moving me to a suite but UH OH all the suites were booked and we were forced to stay in a much smaller regular room. The front desk attendant knocked $30 of the stay, gave us a free fridge, and gave us 2,000 extra points for our stay. I appreciate their attempts to make me happy and I know it's not their fault so I accepted and went on with my day. I, however, plan on contacting holiday inn's online booking to complain. The room itself was actually pretty nice and the beds were comfortable. The internet was pretty slow, but still better than most places I've stayed at. The breakfast was pretty stocked with a pancake machine and a really good hot breakfast. Overall my stay was good and the staff was really great, but this mix up has dug up an already sour taste in my mouth about Holiday Inn and I will reiterate that you should always stay somewhere else unless you have no other choice. I give the Holiday Inn Express Devils Lake 3 Doubledays.

When we went to pay, the deposit went up to $1,000 then added a 4% fee for credit card usage informing us there was no way around using credit card even though it stated on the website that we could pay cash or card if we wished to avoid the fee. After all the confusion, I finally asked for a refund of the deposit, mostly because I was a little tired of being lied to. At which time some person I hadn't even spoken to called me, and without even letting me speak began calling me names which I'm not comfortable writing on the internet along with calling me a moron and threatening to spread my name around to all the other guide services, which if he wasn't aware is considered slander. As if that wasn't bad enough he said things to my wife that no man should say to a woman. All in all, I would stray far away from this place. It seems to me that they are just looking to bleed people for every dime they can get. If 0 stars were an option I would have opted for that, unfortunately it is not so I suppose I will have to settle for 1.
