I found the Holiday Inn Express to have both very positive and very negative aspects. Positive: - Location: The hotel is right across the street from the Colliers Wood Underground Station, which is extremely convenient for transportation. It is also just a brief walk from restaurants and shopping, including a giant (and open late) Sainsbury's for any needed miscellaneous items. - Breakfast: The options were much better than expected, with 3-4 cereal types, yogurt, fruit compote (for yogurt), meats, eggs, and toast. They also had multiple coffee machines, with lattes, cappuccinos, espressos, and hot chocolate (a nice treat). - Room Size / Value: For London, we felt as though we had a decent room size for the cost, since there was a small couch and a little bit of floor space (which, sadly, isn't always the case). Negative: - Hallway Design: Our room was on the 1st floor, and there were incredibly odd posts/poles in the middle of the hallway at every room bank, which made maneuvering suitcases from the elevator to our room quite difficult, since it was like going around a corner every 10-15 feet, for a total of 7-8 poles. (It was truly one of the oddest architectural elements I've ever seen in a hotel.) Added to this, it was carpeted, so it really was a bit of a feat to get our nice spinner suitcases from the elevator to our room. - Room Outlets: There were very few outlets in the room, and none which were convenient to use, since there were none near either side of the bed, and to use the small desk area, we had to unplug the lamp. There was one fully free outlet near the small hanging/suitcase area, but it meant our devices were either on top of the suitcases or on the floor, which was a little odd. - Room Cleanliness: The room did feel like housekeeping had been there, but they were a little bit dated/worn overall. So there were some chips, possible slight water damage/staining in the bathroom. It was not significant, but there were multiple places where it felt like a little refresh could be helpful. This was my first visit to the Holiday Inn Express London Wimbledon South, as I was going to a show at Wimbledon Theatre and decided to make a night out of it. I arrived at the hotel around 1pm, and realising I was early was prepared to store my luggage and go and get something to eat. Having got to check in, I was greeted by the Duty Manager, who was very pleasant and helpful. He said my room was ready and said I had been allocated a quiet room on the third floor. I got to my room and it was indeed in a quiet part of the hotel, overlooking the beer garden at the adjacent pub; perfect for my needs. It was spotlessly clean, equipped with everything you need (work desk, good bathroom with a shower, which was perfect for me), tea/coffee making facilities, great bed and free wifi (for IHG members booking direct via an IHG website, or via their travel agent who does the same thing). It is not a luxury hotel, but then no one ever said it would be. For me, the property more than served its purpose and I would not hesitate to return. I would highly recommend the Holiday Inn London Wimbledon South to anyone, and with a selection of bus routes, as well as being opposite Colliers Wood Underground Station, you can't go wrong. Breakfast is served between 06:30 and 10:00. Although I didn't partake in it, as there was just not enough seats and too many people (my fault for choosing a busy time), it more than serves its purpose. My family had a horrible stay at the Holiday Inn in London (Colliers Wood stop). My advice is to anyone coming to London to avoid this hotel at all costs. My family usually finds good value with the Holiday Inn brands whenever we travel. Our experiences with this hotel were so poor, we won't ever stay at another Holiday Inn ever again. The location of this property is terrible. The room is disgusting and dirty. The front desk in the evening is rude (the front desk staff in the morning was very helpful). They have coffee / hot chocolate in the lobby, however, they want 2 Pounds for a small cup. This place is horrible. If you travel to London, consider everything else first. Consider another hotel. Consider a hostel. Consider sleeping on the street. Don't stay at this hotel. It's terrible. read more

Just awful and a rip off! The room was shabby and the bed was uncomfortable. The reception staff were rude. They took a £50 payment to cover sundries such as pizzas which we didn't use. When we checked our bank account 3 days after our stay we realised that they had not refunded the payment. When we contact their main helpdesk via IGH site we were told that they couldn't help and that we had to contact the hotel. When we contacted the hotel we were told it would take 6 days to receive a refund of the payment. Avoid at all costs! read more

First impressions: decent place, clean rooms, nice showers, and a good location. Good for a few nights while we travel around the area. However, my second night, the toilet in our room stopped working. Tried to fix it, asked the front desk for help and was told "we can't help you," asked for another bathroom in the hotel in the meantime, and was told, "there are none." All at 2:00 in the morning. So, overall a good hotel, but don't rely on actually having a working toilet available to you during your stay. read more

The staff was incredible. They were very accommodating and friendly. The location is convenient to the underground tube and restaurants.

I don't usually complain unless I feel an experience is really really bad , however the whole weekend experience was very unpleasant. * Person operating the front desk was the same person managing the bar, on his own and we had to wait for so long we decided to leave and approach then later with a request for a room key card. * Had to come back 3 times to get a 2nd key card for room as we were told there was a shortage. * The room was very cold and had to call down to ask if they could help and were told they would adjust the temp but it made no difference. * Very noisy we were on the 3rd floor but could hear everything going on in pub next door and what sounded like above us however we were left wondering how that could be as we were on the 3rd floor. * Bed very uncomfortable as it sagged in the middle and we both rolled into the middle through out the night also the plastic mattress cover caused us to sweat during the night. * Finally in the morning as we were about to go down to breakfast on the Sat morning for breakfast, the fire alarm went off and the staff did not have a clue as to what to do as people were wondering around the hotel wondering where to go. There did not seem to be a fire marshal or anyone making sure people were in a safe area. We thought there was a person holding a walkie talkie who might have been a staff member but it wasn't evident as no one had a high visibility jacket on with any kind of identification. It was a mess. The last time I stayed at the holiday in the experience was not so great as they were in the middle of a renovation, and it was very noisy with staff going out for a smoke just outside my room throughout the night. Again customer service was very poor when I mentioned the room noise and the fact I had not booked a twin room (I booked a double on line) and was told then that they couldn't do anything about it as that was what I had booked. Interestingly enough on our arrival on Friday 1st March there was a gentleman customer in the middle of a heated discussion with a member of reception staff about the very same thing as per above. But I figured it would be worth another try as both myself and my partner travel a lot around the US and Canada and have always had great experiences with Holiday Inn as they have high standards. We are booked into stay in another Holiday Inn hotel in a few weeks and are a little concerned the experience will be the same. read more

Very disappointing experience with this hotel. While the location to an underground is nice, right across the street, the hotel is dirty, the rooms are extremely tiny, and the personnel at the front desk are hit and miss. Specifics: the carpet is filthy and matted in the hallways and rooms, room lighting is insufficient, there is 1 outlet, if you unplug a lamp there are two outlets. If you are a family of 3 or more there is no room in the hotel room to pass by each other. Requesting an extra blanket or towel is an exercise in futility, as it will never come. Even requesting a 2nd room key seemed to be quite the annoying task for the night desk clerk. Paying for an evening coffee or cocoa from a lobby machine, really? Also, while the location is convenient for a tube entrance, this hotel is not quick to get to anything in London. The only thing this hotel did is motivate you to get up in the morning and get out to see the sights, it was not an inviting atmosphere where you would relax in the room. I strongly recommend you seek other lodging options, even if you want to stay in the colliers Wood area. read more

Holiday Inn Express London - Wimbledon South is a perfect location for the tennis, walking distance to Wimbledon tennis. Staffs superb, rooms were spotlessly clean. The breakfast was excellent, lots of fresh fruit. Would definitely stay here again...! read more

I cannot found fault at this Holiday Inn Express London - Wimbledon South hotel. It's convenient for the twickenham rugby. The staffs were really helpful. The accommodation was in excellent order, very clean, modern and welcoming. read more
