I chose The Lodge in Putney primarily for its location, price, and the appealing photos online. In terms of location, it's excellent--close to Roehampton University, public transport, and within walking distance to restaurants and pubs. For that, I'd give it Five Stars
Unfortunately, the hotel itself didn't quite live up to expectations. I stayed in Room 60, located in the basement. The window faced an area where staff stored maintenance equipment, so I frequently heard ladders being moved and conversations just outside my window. This made it difficult to rest peacefully.
There is no elevator, which means guests must carry their luggage up and down several flights of stairs. The room was also very small--upon opening the door, the bed was immediately in front of me, leaving barely enough space to maneuver my suitcase. The bathroom, while modern, was quite compact.
One of the biggest disappointments was the pricing. I booked through Hotels.com, where the listed rate was significantly lower than what I was ultimately charged--over $120 more. I was told this was due to resort and other fees not included on the website, which I found misleading. All charges should be transparently disclosed at the time of booking.
On a positive note, the hotel has an on-site restaurant and bar, which is convenient. However, breakfast is not included, and the quality was just average. For the price, I'd recommend exploring local breakfast spots instead.
There are also no transportation services offered, which might be inconvenient for some travelers.
Overall, while the location is ideal, the stay didn't meet my expectations in terms of comfort, transparency, and value. I personally wouldn't choose to stay here again. read more
