This Holiday Inn Express was a quick and nice option in the Alexandria, Virginia area. The hotel is located in the middle of a nice business area with strip malls, restaurants, bakeries and wine shops all within walking distance. When we arrived, we noticed they were in the middle of renovations, so the lobby and many areas around the elevator were roped off with strings and plastic. The check in process was quick and easy and the room was clean and well appointed. No microwave, no freezer, but yes to a refrigerator. Dove body wash and shampoo were the main offerings at this hotel. Free parking and free breakfast in the morning. Overall a clean place in the area. read more

I am disappointed in the service received. I reserved 2 queen sized beds but when I got to the room, the beds were much smaller. I spoke to the front desk, and they said they only have queen and king and what I have is a queen. It measured, and the tag reads, 53" wide. A double is typically 54" and a queen is 60" so the bed was slightly smaller than a double and not close to a queen. Due to a disability, I had to move to another hotel. They refused to give me a refund because they say it was a 'queen' bed. The staff was snarky about the whole thing. I would not stay here. read more

I wish I could leave less than one star. For starters the check in process was the worst of any hotel I've stayed in, I paid in full online because my wallet was stolen on my road trip and all I had available to me was a photo of my husbands card and cash. They needed a card for incidentals at check in and instead of just looking at the photo I had of the card they made me fill out a form that had to be emailed to me just so they could pull the form up and then... enter it manually anyways? Redundant. The lobby also looked like a construction site. I finally checked in after about 45 mins at the front desk. My room was 919, it had a door inside that was attached to another room where at least 10 teens were staying. The broke multiple glasses and blared music for hours, I get it kids rent rooms to party sometimes so I let it go during early hours. But then when they came back at 2 am they did nothing but scream and fight. More broken glass, and what sounded like a fist fight. The phone in my room was disconnected so I had to use my cell to search the number and call the front desk. The guy who answered sent someone up to knock on their door and ask them to quiet down... that lasted for maybe 20 mins and when they knew he was gone they started up again. I called booking.com for a refund because no one ever offered to switch my room and after the first call they never sent anyone up again. After getting maybe 2 hours of sleep I decided to get back on the road. I voiced my opinion at check out and let them know those kids shouldn't have been allowed to stay and disturb people trying to actually get some rest at 2am.. he didn't say a word. By far my favorite hotel in the area. It was clean, had good breakfast, and is affordable. Customer service was also a plus!

The hotel staff really helped me out by allowing me to check in early. I was staying at an Airbnb in the area but had woken up to find the toilet flooding the bathroom which caused me to find lodging elsewhere...the front desk staff were understanding and kind. They set me up with a room where I promptly showered the bad juju of the Airbnb away. The bed was comfortable and I was beyond thankful to use a clean bathroom that was not flooding with toilet water. I had no issues with finding parking and the complimentary breakfast the following morning was super busy but the staff did a good job of restocking the food when it got low. I definitely recommend and would gladly stay again! read more

This is a decent hotel for what you are getting...it's an Express so some things are limited. Example, the gym is a bit small, but you can get by for a couple days. I did find it odd that the pool was outside and kind of not connected, but guess it's warmer in this area. When I walked up the gate was open so anyone off the street could have walked in. As for the room, it's a good size and I liked the chair for lounging in and the work space was nice, except my chair was pretty broke (thought I was going to fall backwards) and squeaked loudly anytime I moved. The bed was so so, but the pillows were awesome if you like down. As for the cable, they had many good stations like HBO, STARZ, encore and more. You did not have the option to rent movies, which I like, but hey, this saved me from paying $20 a movie...I'll watch a free one on my Delta flight home. Bathroom good for one person, may be small for a family. I did love the water pressure...finally a place with ample water pressure. I would have liked to see a larger selection of snacks or amenities for sale in the lobby; also could sell some wine or beer. The breakfast is your standard holiday inn egg omelets, biscuits and gravy, etc....if you travel a lot, you know exactly what I am talking about, haha. Overall it a good stay, but the location is super crappy if you want somewhere to hang out at night or grab food. You literally have one bar in the area and a few unsavory looking food establishments.... there is a decent pizza place to order from that will deliver....but not many options other than that. read more

Stayed here a number of times since it's right off the I95 and at the interchange that takes you into DC. It's walking distance to the shopping mall. Parking here is free and the check in contactless. The rooms were comfortable. They weren't serving hot foods for breakfast, but at least you have a choice of foods which is better than the other Holiday Inn I've stayed at. Gym here is small and can only accommodate one person, but they do have an agreement with the gym across the street. read more

I am a Holiday Inn Express fan but this was the worst one I've ever visited. Booked through the IHG rewards site. The bathroom was tiny. Asked for 2 beds, got 1 bed and sleeper sofa. The thing I found most undesirable was the pool area. One entire corner of the pool area was used as storage. No small Rubbermaid type locked shed. The hose was rolled up on the ground. Chemical test kit sitting on a table. It was very unsettling. These things should be hanging or contained at the least... and out of site at best. read more

Let me start off that one star is too much. Driving up from Georgia and checked in at 4:30am to only get a few hours of sleep. 4 hours later at 8 am the front desk comes and bangs on the door. Wakes us up to tell us to get out the hotel due to smoking. They never came to check the room and falsely accuse us. Cops where called and cops said this isn't the first time they call them over falsely accusing black folk of smoking. They still took a huge smoking fee way before checkout and they never came to the room or even in it to see if it was even us that smoked. Too add on the windows where leaking water and mold all over the floor. Smell was horrible and right next to the ac unit which barely worked. I don't understand how they can charge someone a huge smoking fee that didn't even smoke but have the worst smelling mold in the room. read more

Would definitely stay here again. I was pleasantly surprised with some of the extras that were included. Our provided mini toiletries were from bath & body works, and they also had a nice selection already in the shower for use. The continental breakfast had a good variety including an omelette station, bagels & breads, cereal, and even Cinnabon cinnamon rolls. The coffee bar had actual coffeemate creamer as well. Our in room coffee selection had some good choices as well. All nice surprises. Our hotel room was nice, comfortable bed and clean linens. The bathroom had been nicely renovated as well. It's near a nice mall, and within walking distance to several dining options. If you aren't familiar with the area it's a great place to stay because you're close to many things. And a short ride to the metro if you'd like to go into DC without having to drive. read more

The good: -The room was clean. -The breakfast was decent. -The offer a shuttle (we didn't use the shuttle) -The water pressure in the bathroom was great. -No noise from Interstate traffic -Hidden fridge. Our stay would be quite good if the internet connection would work (it kept disconnecting every 3-5 minutes and I had to reconnect that often for another round of minutes which was very annoying), refrigerator would work ( which we discovered next morning having our water bottles at room temperature), and the mattresses and pillows were comfortable. Stayed at Holiday Inn Express while visiting DC for few days for family gathering. The hotel was booked by my brother-in-law.... it's right off of I395, which is nice.... there's bob evans around the corner. The front desk folks were nice, the breakfast decent, the hotel was okay - not the most recent built, but looks like they are renovating some of the rooms... the room we were staying were on 9th floor... the beds were soft (I prefer hard bed's due to bad back)... but otherwise the room was decent. Not sure if I'll be back here again since I don't know when I'll be in DC area again. The parking lot is limited though, that would be my only complain. read more

Well I gone back to here and the Best Western had a power outage. The food was good and service was outstanding. Shuttle bus service great. Yes it worth coming here. But the memory still here. This time room was very nice. But the door handle. But they fix it very fast. The bath tub part of the bathtub frame was broken off. The Air conditioner was place oddly in the room. Bed was nice. pillow was to soft and not any firm pillow. Breakfast improve. Egg almost teast real. Gravy was nice. didn't try the biscuits. Coffee was good. But if I do come back. Rooms were fine.Food was constantly running out at breakfast on Sunday, but this may be due to lack of staff. We stayed three nights. Saturday and Sunday due to events, parking was nonexistent. I finally after circling a very large lot, found a spot in the back. The worse part, however, is that my elderly mom had to walk the entire lot with a cane in the cold because the front entry area had cars parked ( not just waiting) in it so I could not drop her off. The front desk said that they had no control over where people park. Also an eight story hotel should have more than a half dozen handicapped spots, I would think. I had another stay booked here next month which I cancelled already. Will not be stayed with this company in the future if I can avoid it. read more

This hotel has come levels of nice, the place does not stink, and it was a good place to rest. I only had one issue that degraded my stay, neighbors who were very noisy and could not contain their sexual bliss from bouncing off the door of my room. I was astonished that they were so in the heat of passion they had to try to bang it out in the hallways, thankfully they went in a room after several moments, which sounded like two alley cats in coitus. Had a business trip to Springfield VA on the weekend, and booked this HIE. It was very underwhelming for a Holiday Inn Express. The room was decent sized, with a sofa area, mini-refrigerator, and king bed. No microwave in the room, but I could use the one in the lobby. The walls were thin and the so was the door to the room. The facility looked old. Parking and the complimentary breakfast were good. I got a very good price for the rate. Decent amount of shops and restaurants within walking distance. Conveniently near several on- and off-ramps to I-95. Complimentary shuttle to the Metro station. I know I didn't list a large amount of complaints about this HIE, but I can't place my finger on why I didn't care for this HIE. I would look into other Holiday Inns in the local area before I return to this one. read more

Typical Holiday Inn Express. Friendly staff and clean rooms. There are a couple shortfalls I would like to point out. 1. While the housekeeping staff does a good job to keep the rooms clean, it would be nice if they didn't make multiple trips to your room each day. One housekeeper will come and clean the room and take dirty towels. An hour or two later another housekeeper will come and drop off clean towels. And at some point the supervisor comes by to ensure the room was cleaned. I've been at this hotel now for five days and each day I've had no less than three housekeeping visits each day. This may sound good but sometimes you'd rather just be left alone in your room without people coming in all day. 2. Limited washers and dryers. There are 10 floors to this building. Currently there are two washers and two dryers in the entire hotel. Among these four machines, one or two have a do not use sign on them each day leaving either one washer and one dryer for the entire hotel. I feel this is unacceptable. Stayed for 3 nights. Hotel was clean and breakfast free buffet was surprisingly good and comprehensive. 2 elevators for 10 floors with no service elevator, means you will compete with cleaning staff and carts for an elevator throughout the day... Frequently waiting for several minutes. Maids see no issue with stepping into a crowded elevator carrying a wet dirty mop. Fitness center is sparse with 25 to 50 lb dumbbells, stationary bike, elliptical, and two treadmills. read more

We booked this hotel through one of the online hotel sights for $52/night and stayed for two nights (Fri & Sat). The hotel was listed as 2 1/2 stars, free breakfast, free parking and close to D.C. Location: Excellent If you're driving, it's right off I95. The parking lot is not huge, but adequate. If you're coming from National, you can take the Metro to Springfield (maybe 4 or 5 stops) and call for the Holiday Inn Express Shuttle. Restaurants, pharmacies, grocery store, strip malls in walking and driving distance. The Metro stop is too far to walk, but the hotel's shuttle will take you to and from the metro as well as anywhere within 3 miles from the hotel. Shuttle Service: Nice perk. One draw back, if the driver doesn't show up, you're out of luck. The shuttle took us to the metro stop and we returned about 9:30 pm. We called the hotel for a pick up only to be told the driver didn't show up. The desk clerk suggested taking a taxi and said we would be reimbursed. There is a taxi stand in the parking garage across from the metro. We gave the desk clerk the receipt and were reimbursed as promised. Staff: The staff greet you at every turn and do their best to be helpful. The lobby is large, comfortable and looks to be recently renovated. There's a small business center with two computers. A clean dining room which serves free breakfast every morning. Typical free breakfast fare and plentiful. Rooms: 7th floor We had a room with two double beds. We were on the 7th floor and our room was clean. No mold in bathroom, no dirt in air-conditioning/heater vents. Although the room had been updated with new furniture, beds and bedding, the walls were stucco but pained and clean and the doors were old but painted - the hinges were painted as well, which was a little odd. The bathroom was clean, also renovated. There's a note which gives you the option of res-using your towels/washcloths to help save water (I presume by not using the washing machines all day) - we opted out of that and had new towels each day. Access to D.C.: Plus Easy to get to metro. It's a 2 1/2 star hotel at $52/night. I expected it to be horrid - but it was a pleasant surprise. Me being an IHG Platinum member, I love all the IHG hotels. This location is by far my favorite that I've been to. The hotel staff was incredible, my girlfriend and I got upgraded to a suite on the 9th floor at check in and there is also a free shuttle to the metro station. Springfield is my hometown, but I live in Cincinnati now. Anytime I come back I will be sure to choose this hotel. 10/10 experience. read more

Worst hotel!! Room was very dark with dated looking furniture. Mattress extremely hard. Hear all the noise from the interstate. Bathroom was very small, mold, no ventilation or fan, and horrible water pressure. Fitness room was even worse! One treadmill speed would not change, tv remote would not change channels and message on tv said service was disconnected. I had to let you, Yelp and Trip Advisor know about my experience at this Holiday Inn Express before you guys plunk down your hard earned cash. I Dreadfully endured this place for 8 uncomfortable nights, of which I'm thankful to be liberated. I'm scratching my head trying to figure out how a Hotel, not a Motel, could charge it's patrons $100.00 per night and have some of the crappiest accommodations for any national chain. I simply can't believe the in-room toilets have no ventilation, so basically after you take a shower and the room is all fogged with steam, deal with it! Doesn't management care about mold, mildew and bacteria accumulating in the rooms? I guess not. Or even worse, when one has to take a dump n' flush, deal with the aroma, baby, that's the message here. Wow. Furthermore, the toilet made the strangest noise when we flushed it and took forever to reset itself. Enough of that. The front desk got our room wrong upon arrival and had to switch us to another room after we complained. Our room? Well, there was nothing to brag about in this room, the table that is ordinarily reserved for a laptop or other business duties was broken but the work of a handyman made it barely able to stand, I was concerned about doing any type of computer work on this table, which they pawned off as a desk. The electrical outlets in the room are so old that the cord from our hot iron wouldn't stay inserted. My daughter complained that the mattress on the sofa bed smelled of urine. They use so much caulk all over the rooms that makes the place look tacky. From the sink in the toilet area to the in-wall a/c unit, sloppy caulk work is on full display, just looks tacky. Our door (Room 512) door wouldn't lock so the maintenance guy had to come fix it, he sprayed it with WD40 and we were then resigned to sniffing chemicals all night. The grounds of the pool are dirty and need to be cleaned. The King sized bed was really uncomfortable and I'm totally convinced that the mattress was probably 10 years old or older. Let me just say that this is the second bad experience in a row that we've had with Holiday Inn Express, the previous being in Miami (Kendall) last year. My young daughter asked if we could stop going to Holiday Inn Express, she may be on to something. Another reviewer here hit the nail on the head, this is indeed a rundown Hotel hiding behind a big name, avoid this place. (See pictures). read more

There is ample parking and it's free - YAY. There are restaurants and shops right across the street so you don't need to drive - double yay. The staff is pretty decent in that they all seem pretty nice for the most part too and the rooms are nothing to complain about. It's pretty cheap to stay here and it looks like any other hotel you'd pay a little more to stay at as far as the rooms go but there is a massive catch. The walls seem to be paper thin so everyone in the hall way even talking with "indoor voices" can be heard. There always seems to be kids running up and down the halls without fail at the most absurd times and the slamming of doors is abundant. That's probably everywhere you go though right? Well sure maybe but this hotel is literally right next to a major road and just behind ramps to major highways so the noise from the road is almost non stop and it's SUPER loud. This is one of the noisiest hotels I have ever been to and if you don't have earplugs you will not get any sleep. For the noise level alone, I will never stay here again but that's just because I treasure my sleep and am a very light sleeper so it being as noisy as it is just does not allow for me to get any rest whatsoever. If you can sleep through a hurricane this wouldn't be a bad place for you as everything else seems decent. read more

We just successfully hosted a 9-day training in one of the event rooms at the hotel. The staff was spectacular to deal with, our attendees founds their rooms to be clean and comfortable, and the rates were more than reasonable. The past week could not have gone better, and I look forward to hosting more events and having my clients and students make use of this hotel. read more

The staff is very friendly and helpful. we stayed their 6 nights and used their free shuttle everyday to go to the Metro station. rooms were clean, and they starting a hotel renovation which will make this an excellent place t1o stay going forward. very safe area. my family got in at midnight and ate at the 24 hour McDonalds a few blocks away and felt completely safe. met some neat people at the hotel. do not hesitate to stay at this hotel. it is a nice hotel. read more

I travel to DC often and am IHG platinum. I usually stay at a property in Arlington or Alexandria, but everything was booked for cherry blossoms. I'm pleasantly surprised. The rooms are updated, firm bed, friendly check in, good fitness facility with weights and plenty of machines. The location is a little loud being so close to 95, but the trade off here is the access. A very international flavor in the immediate area so there are great choices to eat...I had a great Thai experience tonight. How could I forget the warm oatmeal raisin cookies at check-in? I need to update this by saying that 2 machines were broken in the fitness room and no one could figure out how to get the thermostat off of 78. read more

Staff at breakfast area is sensitive to the needs of the guests and tries their best to help everyone. Great hotel. I give them 4.5 stars. Very comfortable beds, great pillows, good cable TV, quite rooms, decent "free" hot breakfast, and very clean rooms. I would rate this as the fourth best out of 13 hotels in Springfield. Excellent free wifi connection. Very professional staff, second best in the area. I have stayed at most of the hotels in Springfield. This one offers the best overall value: price, comfort, breakfast, and other amenities. Just finished my most recent stay in Jan 2015. read more
