On a recent trip to D.C, I was unable to book a stay at my favorite place in Georgetown. Opting to stay near some friends in the area, I decided to take a chance on this place. Upon my arrival, I was greeted by a very friendly front desk staff that promptly checked me in and recommended a few excellent dining options in the area. The lobby has a modern, if rather mundane, aesthetic. My room was spacious and nicely appointed with comfy bedding. In an era in which most Airbnbs expect you to do most or all of the cleaning yourself (or charge exorbitant cleaning fees), it was refreshing to have my room serviced each day of my stay. The Red Line metro, to D.C., is a short ten minute drive or Uber from the hotel. It does take around 35 minutes to reach downtown D.C., via said metro, but I never had to wait more than a few minutes for a train. Overall, my expectations were exceeded, and I'll definitely consider booking a room here on future visits. read more

I hope hotel management sees this because I'd like someone to contact me about how this situation was handled. I booked my stay through Priceline and specifically disclosed that I would be traveling with my dog before completing the reservation. I was quoted a total of $124 for the night, and at no point was I told there would be an additional pet fee. ($75) When I arrived and questioned the unexpected charge, Ikra kept talking over me and was rude, dismissive, and refused my request to speak with a manager. I wasn't asking for special treatment. I simply wanted an explanation and the opportunity to discuss the issue with someone who had the authority to help. This experience wasn't just about the unexpected fee; it was about the lack of transparency and the poor customer service I received. I would appreciate it if the hotel's general manager or guest relations team would reach out to me to review what happened and work toward a resolution. read more

A large hotel just north of DC. We were there for a funeral and were able to get a room on short notice for a few days. I got the feeling from the out lay and the large number of outlets they got a lot of business travelers and possibly conventions. It wasn't really a 'tourist' vibe and was not really close to mass transit into DC. It was what you'd expect, a bed and a place to put your clothes with all the personality of a box of Kleenex, but serviceable. Because of why we were there we didn't try the indoor pool, gym or restaurant but they looked nice. We did have some issues with the small things like turning down the A/C-seriously who has the A/C turned up in mid-March? And the in room coffee maker was not funvctional. It would be only a call to fix but the fact they were unaware of it before hand says something about the place too. The bathroom was oddly laid out with the toilet paper not within easy reach of the toilet, my wife was forced to move a roll onto the vanity just to have it convenient. Overall it wasn't a bad stay and the reason for the stay might have colored by overall views but it was neither good nor bad. it was. Just that, it was. read more

A amazing hotel I must say, through the beautiful rooms and halls and amazing views this Holiday Inn hotel really shocked me with how amazing it truly is. The staff were so friendly and funny and the gym was super organized and the pool was very nice and calming the food was nice and the lights were dimmed to a perfect amount so it was resting and calming for your eyes. I have been too a lot of hotels in my lifetime and I must say this was the best hotel yet even better than waterpark hotels I would prefer to be here than any waterpark. There are a lot of things near-by it so there is a lot to do outside the hotel. Overall this was a 10/10 experience and I would not let the other reviews that say otherwise fool you. read more

the hotel itself was lovely and most of the staff was aswell, but the man at the front desk, Devon, was awfully rude. Me and my group were here for our eighth grade DC trip and, in a rush, we left our keys up in our room because we completely forgot we needed them. We went to the front desk to ask for new ones to get up to our rooms and got a complete lecture. He was treating us like misbehaving kids, saying things like "all of you left your keys up there? Is this what happens when your parents aren't here?" We were trying very hard just to get our keys and leave but he wouldn't stop yelling at us. It was a very uncomfortable experience and even the chaperones were shocked. I would hope for no one to ever go through that and I hope this review gets seen. read more

I definitely enjoyed the visit to Arundel Mills Mall and to the Live! Casino in Maryland as part of the "D.C. Cultural & Entertainment Getaway" weekend. Before you know it, we were headed to the next stop....Holiday Inn in Gaithersburg, Maryland! Although, I always enjoy sightseeing portions of trips I was glad to get to the place where we would be staying overnight. Why? Because the Holiday Inn is where I would rest my head in the hopes of having a good night's sleep in a comfortable bed with fantastic pillows-you get my point-lol. Anyway, the Holiday Inn did not disappoint in that area. Let me revisit how glorious the bed and sleeping experience was a bit later in this review.... Getting inside of the Holiday Inn was quite the adventure since four other bus groups were present. Fortunately, there were polite, gracious Holiday Inn staffpersons that greeted and guided people to elevators, etc. We got into the elevator with our bags and got to our room on the 5th Floor. Opening the door with our room key, I was pleased to see a nicely furnished room with comfortable looking beds, a desk, cool artwork on the walls, a refrigerator, a coffee machine, etc. The bathroom was clean with fluffy towels ready to be used. Ok, so now back to my bed.... Anticipating going to sleep later on in the night (It was only around 6pm-lol), I sat on the bed and felt my eyelids getting heavy. Oh that bed...convincing myself to get off the bed so that we could go downstairs for dinner was no small thing.... The Holiday Inn lobby is beautiful and spacious. It consists of a bar and restaurant area where people can dine if they do not want to have food ordered to their rooms. The lobby also has carpeting, and mixed style seating that includes chairs as well as sofas. Holiday Inn's pool is gorgeous and well heated. The palm trees surrounding the pool area gave me a tropical feel and I almost forgot where I was for a minute....They have an organized and well structured Fitness Center. Since I was with a bus group, our package had activities such as a Comedy Show, a Dance Party w/ open bar for two hours as well as both a dinner buffet that night and a breakfast buffet the next morning. Scrumptious food! Succulent Tilapia and moist/tender Chicken w/ the dinner and crispy bacon/seasoned home fried potatoes and sweet, juicy fruit as part of the breakfast buffet. Fabulous activites....you know that I danced the night away as the DJ played good music all night until.the morning light-lol. And yes, I slept well. The bed truly was the highlight of the entire stay. Still envision that firm,.comfortable, relaxing bed and those plush, marvelous pillows! Waking up the next morning so well rested, it saddened me to leave that bed to get dressed before having breakfast - lol. The Holiday Inn is receiving 4 out of 5 stars because of the only issue that occurred during the overnight stay....There was no hot water. I had to use cold water in the sink to brush my teeth and wash my hands and I had to take a cold shower before going to bed as well one in the morning. They have to look into that issue.... All in all, I hope they get the water problem addressed because I would return to this Holiday Inn. read more

I only chose 1 star because I had to choose something! We stayed here for a huge lacrosse weekend at Maryland soccer plex, along with the majority of our team. The hotel hallways have a horrible smell, there are no working ice machines, we had to have our water bottles filled at the front desk! There are no laundry facilities. (Important detail for a July lacrosse tournament) also, the hotel is a "green" hotel so even tho our AC was turned to 66, it never got cooler then 74 in the room! We were told it's because it senses when you are in the room thru movement. So imagine how hot it gets at night when you're asleep! I wouldn't recommend this hotel to anyone. Worst experience in all of our travels, by far! read more

Stayed at this Holiday Inn for two nights. The room itself was clean and comfortable, but a bit run down. The cabinet housing the mini-fridge was in need of repair, the bathroom had problems with cracks in the counter housing around the sink, the air return vent over the shower had this large gross chunk of something in the vent screen, the wallpaper in the bathroom was peeling... One the plus side, the AC worked well in the room and the wireless internet access was reasonably fast. A negative on the AC control is - the AC wall unit is analog control. You can't set it to a specific temperature and then regulate the room temp. I found myself having to constantly fool around with the controls - and at times having to just turn off the AC for a while when it got to cold. They really need to renovate this place and in the process - install digital thermostat controls. The staff at the hotel was outstanding. Very professional and cheerful. The hotel just needs a major renovation. I'd stay at other places next time in G-Burg. read more

Hotel was unable to keep up with a full building and we had no hot showers all week. Imagine being on a bus for 14 hours, then not having a hot shower. Or walking around 13 miles on 80* sunny days, then not having a hot shower. Or waking up sore, wishing for a hot shower for your aching muscles and to wake you up for another long day...but there was no hot water. How does a hotel like Holiday Inn even stay open without being able to keep up with a full occupancy?! I just don't understand. Anyways, I digress... At first glance I thought the shower was not finished. It was, but that just means it was hideously ugly and the designer should be fired (see photo). Other than that, the room was clean and acceptable. I was there with my daughter's 8th grade class trip and by some grace of god, I got upgraded to a single, king room at the last minute for free (yay for no rooming with another random mom!). I was at the end of the hall and it was pretty quiet, I didn't hear the hundreds of teenagers goofing off all night. There was a bit of street noise since we were at a busier intersection, but not loud enough to disturb my sleep. The breakfasts were mediocre at best and the fruit was disappointing, especially as a vegetarian. Now on to some positives. Hotel was clean, staff was nice, and they had a nice sized convenience shop. Overall, I wouldn't spend my money voluntarily to stay here, I would 100% find someplace else. read more

Average stay in an average price range. The house keeping staff need to pay attention to the "little things". We asked for toilet paper but they didn't put the roll on the holder. The plate base of the microwave did not fit correctly. The whine from the wall heater woke us up in the night, after we were told it was looked at. Blood stains on the pillow cases....twice! But the house keeping "manager" blamed the person who cleaned the linens. Pool & pool area was nice but way too cold to enjoy. The Asst Manager gave us extra points on our rewards but we have no plans to stay here again. read more

Without a doubt the worst Holiday Inn it has ever been my displeasure to stay in. DON'T stay here until you read this! My wife had made a reservation through her business and the attendant checking us in was rude, insulting to her, and wasted nearly 15 minutes to execute the check in. We were tired from a day of walking and touring and decided just to ignore the attendant and go to the room. The room TV was broken, and when I returned downstairs to the attendant, named Micah, he did not ask if I wanted to have the television repaired until I demanded a business card of the hotel's manager. My quick email that evening to Alaina Cowan, Guest Services & Sales Manager was responded to promptly the next day, with an apology, but no offer to get us a working tv. That same day my wife discovered that nearly everyone in a corporate training seminar was staying at this hotel, and nearly all of them had horror stories. The instructor had been trapped inside a broken elevator for 30 minutes and was offered a "free breakfast coupon" when he complained. Another participant who heard about the elevator tried to take the stairs but discovered that the lights in the stairwell were out. Others had been provided filthy accommodations, and still others had to make due without hot water. And of course our ice machine hadn't had ice since the ice age. This is not a Holiday Inn owned business. We stayed at a new one in Catonsville the night before and everything was in top shape and all the employees were engaging and courteous. This Holiday Inn is owned by Montgomery Village Hospitality and run by the BF Saul Group, which touts itself as a large regional developer, but the sense you get about this place is that it is an uncaring bureaucratic nightmare where no investments or repairs are made, the employees are dour due to interminable complaints from clients, and no one gives a damn. Let me re-phrase: no one gives half a damn. Caveat emptor. read more

Stayed here again recently. Arrived late, around 10pm. Unpacked & went to get in the shower, couldn't get the water to come out of the shower head. Yanked over & over, thought I would rip the whole thing out of the wall. Finally called down to the front desk, and they had to send up the handy-man, who couldn't get it to work either. He had to replace the whole damn spigot. It wasn't all complete until after 11pm. In the defense of the handy-man, this was all done fairly quickly. But what I don't understand is how they could have placed me in this room. It appeared as though the spigot & knob (that you pull upwards to make the water come from the shower head) were totally corroded. This doesn't happen overnight - so how long has it been like that? The whole thing just really turned me off. read more

Also, this is one of the worst laid-out hotel rooms I've ever been to: one mirror in the bathroom with no ventilator; one mirror over a giant tall desk on the wall furthest from the window; how am I supposed to see my reflection of my full outfit or put makeup on? You can either lean over the bathroom counter and try to apply eyeshadow in the fogged-up mirror using bad overhead lights, or sit on the desk and have no light at all. It doesn't sound important until you realize that your blush is actually eyeshadow, a la Bridget Jones. Light switches are attached off-kilter, the toilet paper roll is an entire lunge away (not close to the toilet), a bath towel was threadbare, like, come on, have a little more rigidity with your QC. read more

I had a nice time at this Holiday Inn. It had been renovated recently, so certain things, like the beds & decor have been updated. The bed was super comfortable, and the room was pretty nice for a Holiday Inn. The Ritz, this ain't, but I would stay here again - especially because I had been to a Holiday Inn, and hated it, but this was one was nice. The gym (exercise room) had filtered water & sani-wipes for the machines, along with towels, which is more than most hotel gyms. Staff was extremely friendly & helpful. I ordered blueberry pancakes from room service, and while room service was slow, the pancakes were delicious. There is a pool & hot tub, along with an Irish pub and small store. I did not pay, so I can't speak to the prices. read more

I DID NOT stay in a room BUT I was in the cafe having dinner with my son and had a wonderful waitress. I believe her name is Dasha! She was so patient, understanding, and down to earth. She made my son laugh. And was so on top of the service. I was more than pleased with her. My husband and I just said how there is no more good customer service in the world. And then Ms. Dasha proved me wrong! She was excellent Holiday Inn! She was even great with the couple sitting next to me. She knew what they wanted before they could even say they didn't want a menu. She even had people come in wanting to switch waitresses and I couldn't blame them, she's awesome! Not saying the other lady was bad. My parents visit all the time and have always stayed here because of the location, service and pool. Well, there must be new management or a different something because of the following: Halls are so dirty - 3rd day same glasses, plates and trash laying around. Pool - completely dried out our hair and skin. And yes, we even shower before. All of us who got into the hot tub now have a red rash. My advice do NOT to use either!! The locker room / bathroom is dirty, really dirty. Front desk - called to ask for towels... They brought us 2, 2 towels... We told them we were four people. When I asked for a few more towels I was told she could maybe bring 2 more. Room cleaning - we were out all morning came back at 1 and the room hadn't been touched. Went to the pool and back up an hour and half later, the house keeping staff was already past our room and still didn't clean. The staff works until 4 cleaning rooms, it's after 4 and no one has even knocked or stopped by to clean up the room, so I guess house keeping isn't included??? The only positive thing I can say is the staff working in the restaurant during breakfast couldn't have been nicer (Wayman). Overall, very disappointed and we will be staying elsewhere for all future visits. read more

First and foremost....the front desk staff is by far the best I have ever encountered. I travel for a living so hotels are my home away from home. The staff here goes FAR beyond making you feel welcomed. The address you by name, thank you for for brand loyalty and thank you for returning if you have stayed here in the past (which I have once before). The room is clean, the bathroom spotless, and the bed super comfortable. As a platinum member I receive a free breakfast which is good. The hotel is very reasonably priced for the area. It has an onsite restaurant, offers room service and a small store as well. read more

Simply perfect, my stay at this luxury family-oriented establishment. We checked in early without incident even while the hotel was filled and largely active at 11:00 am. Our room was impeccable and stylish even had Keurig Coffee pot and the greatest smelling soaps and hair products. Thank you to the entire staff both day and night for making our stay memorable. This is one of the weirdest reviews I've ever had to write for Yelp. I've stayed at plenty of hotels in my time, large and small. I've also got a particular eye for good or bad customer service. Usually when I go to a hotel, between the service, facilities and accomodations it's really easy to come up with a star rating. For this Holiday Inn, I have to say this "3 star" review is really more of a "2.8" stars review. Tucked away in Gaithersburg (not too far from a Hilton and other hotels) is a Holiday Inn. Having recently been renovated, there's a very new feeling to much of this facility. Tiles, carpeting, lighting, etc. all look really nice and shiny. The staff is courteous and efficient and my room was comfortable and the standard bed, small desk, small table, armchair combination. I give the hotel good marks for tasty food served during my conference and responsive maintenance people delivering extra tables and material to us when we needed it. See, from the large scale appearance everything is super, worthy of a solid 3+ stars. Then you begin to notice odd little things. For instance, the room had no closet with a door, just a small nook with hangars that you can hang stuff up in and the ironing board with iron right across from it. As with other hotels, there is an in room coffee machine with coffee packets and a packet of sugar, non-dairy creamer etc. but no mixing stick in the packet. The ethernet cable in my room had a snapped tab on it. The heating unit in the room was so loud that it woke me up 3x during the night (I finally shut it off) and a few of my coworkers said the same about their own. So, there's nothing particulary horrible about this hotel, in fact it's a clean place to hang your hat if you're touring DC but want to stay a bit outside the city. There's even a mall complete with stores like Sears and JC Penny across the road (though I warn you, we're talking about a 10-15 minute hike easily thanks to having to cross over six lanes of traffic). There are just a few bothersome things that really keep it from being a truly "great" experience. read more

The room furniture was in good condition. The room had decent lighting. However, the bathroom did not smell clean. It did looked clean. I was unable to find the source of the odor. This review is only in relationship to the restaurant and service staff. I have not booked or slept in a room here, as I live less than a mile away. However, I belong to a networking group that meets here weekly and the Gaithersburg Rotary chapter which also meets here weekly. That being said, I wanted to recognize the service staff, which is beyond phenomenal. Maria and Fabiola are working here nearly every day. They always have a big smile on their faces and make you feel like they are so happy to have you there for lunch/breakfast. They will spend time getting to know you and you will find yourself looking forward to seeing them again. This five star review is for them. As for the food itself, I would probably go 3-stars. It is not bad, but it is certainly not good. I have no way of separating this out how I would like to, and I want the staff to get 5-stars because they are great!! read more

Under the new management customer service has taken a hung plunge downhill. I tried to get a positive response from the hotel multiple times for the last year before posting a bad review, but all I got were lies and excuses. This is what happened and what I sent to the hotel complaints office only to get a response back of about 3 photos that they tried to say were posted around the pool, which was NOT the case. I have stayed at this particular hotel on multiple occasions. During these stays we held birthday parties for our kids. I have been doing this for about the last 3-4 years without any issues.  The reason I started doing the parties here is because I cleared it with management that I could do parties here as long as I purchased at least a one night stay. I do not remember the managers name. It was years ago.  My last stay was supposed to be September 30, 2017, but we ended up leaving and receiving a refund. This is what lead to that. As we were downstairs in the pool (well under the pools capacity and with many chaperones/adults) we were approached by Jagpreet Kaur, she told us that we would have to leave. (This was after we had already spoken to Cathy Sandler and she explained to us that we weren't really supposed to be having the party. I asked her why not, we have been doing this for years with no issues before. Then she stated that the hotel was under new management. I told her I was not aware and if I was then I would not have been there. So she said, since I didn't know and we were already there that we could finish up, but could not hold the parties anymore.) When we asked Jagpreet why we had to leave she told us we were going against company policy.  My husband asked if we could see the policy. She said, sure, but you all would have to leave before I go upstairs to locate it. My husband asked, why, do we have to disperse? She responded, if you don't leave I will have to call the cops. We had everyone leave out of the pool area.  My husband goes with her to locate the policy that she stated was SOP. After about 30 minutes she sends Cathy Sandler, Director of Catering, out to speak with my husband because she couldn't find any policy that stated what she stated as SOP. Cathy then tells my husband that the policy isn't written, it is an unspoken rule. At that point, my husband is upset because she had nothing to back her claims and she wasn't respectful enough to return and speak to him herself. My daughter's party was ruined and that is a memory she will always have. We had a few family member who drove from about an hour out just to be with my daughter on this day. What we didn't appreciate was the lack of compassion, the fact that Cathy went against all she said, that Mauricio Ticas and Scott (both Supervisor) never addressed us , that no policy was ever located and for some reason the police were still called.  We have had numerous parties and my aunt (June Dorsey)held her wedding at your establishment based off of our recommendation.    The situation was far worse than it sounds.   I feel that race played a part in how they approached us and that they thought we would just take them at their word. read more

I really, really wanted to give this place 4-stars, especially when I compare it to so-called "4-Star Hotels" that make you pay an arm and a leg for every convenience. This place has great high-speed internet in all of the rooms (free), an awesome pool and jacuzzi (free), full-service breakfast complete with eggs and pancakes (free), and even HBO (free). Can't say the same for most 4-Star hotels I've been in- I was able to relax at this place and didn't have to worry about incurring any fees to my company while on a 3 day business trip. But the CIGARETTE SMELL in my room was HORRIBLE! "Non-smoking?" YEAH RIGHT! My room smelled like an overpowering ash tray right up until the end. It was kind of disgusting. I don't think I'd stay at this hotel again due to the ashtray room, but I'd definitely look for something comparable in price that didn't smell like an ashtray in that area that still had all of the great perks. read more

I stayed here recently for one night when my boyfriend and I were too tired to drive home. I didn't expect much but this hotel was actually pretty nice. When we arrived around 2AM, we were exhausted and on a tight budget. We called around to a few hotels who wanted something ridiculous like a $200 deposit on a credit card for the night which wouldn't have been an issue necessarily but not something we could do at that time. Times are tough, what can I say. This hotel did not require a deposit and let us pay with cash. When we first walked into the lobby, we came across the last few people leaving a wedding reception who seemed very toasty but everyone was friendly, a little too friendly with the eye contact but nothing I can't handle. These were the guests not the staff. We were given a free breakfast for the following morning which we both were not sure we could actually awake in time for. Checking in was quick and painless and we headed to our room. The king size bed was pretty comfortable, the room was rather immaculate actually, the air conditioning worked perfectly, the free soaps smelled of coconut and were by 'Bath and Body Works', and overall I was quite impressed. The next morning we had room service try in come in around 10AM or something which was our hint we needed to head downstairs for our free breakfast. The free breakfast was okay, some of the food (i.e french toast) seemed to have been sitting out awhile but the staff was incredibly nice. They had massive amounts of bacon and one of the waitresses helped my boyfriend in making a Belgian waffle. One of the staff accidentally swung the door adjacent but one table away from us into a crystal vase that was on a ledge and it shattered into a million pieces. Thank the Joe Pesci we weren't hit by any of it or that none of it got in our food or around the food. The staff were very apologetic and the manager asked us repeatedly if we were okay, which we were. Accidents happen, they cleaned it up promptly and were all very professional about it. After breakfast we went back to our room where I took a shower before checking out. The water pressure was good and the shower/tub was a good size. The coconut soaps smelled pretty good actually and room service brought us toothpaste and a toothbrush. Although the toothbrush was a flimsy plastic it suited for the time. I did have to call room service twice before I received the items I requested but it was a busy time of day. Checkout was also quick, the parking is really ample at this hotel as well and as we were leaving we happened upon another wedding reception. Overall the staff were all very friendly, the rooms were comfortable and extremely clean and I quite enjoyed my time here. I'd definitely go back. I think price was it was a bit expensive, it was I believe $109.00 including taxes and so forth for one night. I don't stay in hotels that often but seemed standard to me unless you're staying at a Red Roof Inn. The hotel was lovely decoration wise and my quick glance at the pool - it looked to be very nice. We came in on loaded bus (bus tour) and as soon as we got our room key. We were told we needed to hurry and shower before 11:30pm Because they're turning off the water. Like WTF! We just got here at 11:05pm. By the time we took the elevator to the 5th floor and put our bags down and got ready to hit the shower. The water WAS TURNED OFF! No FREAKEN WAY! We can't even flush the toilet. DOESN'T FLUSH (NO WATER) and to top it off. I found two roaches running around in the dresser draws and another roach running around on the chair.. it's SUPER gross. We're not motel snobs as we're generally only there to crash, but I had read some less than favorable reviews and was wary; we had no issues. We booked one night and added a second night at the last minute. As a result we had to check out and then back in which seemed odd, but was quick and painless. All our interactions with staff were very pleasant. The pool 'oasis' is badly in need of a makeover however. read more

I would really like to be able to write a better review, but after staying here several times my overall impression is not so great. I normally book my stay via Hotwire, and I should be more savvy than this, but I keep getting sucked in by the 3.5 star rating. What? It must be the amenities, and not the quality of the actual facility. To be fair, I will only write about my latest stay here. First of all, as I was relaxing in my room, I heard the door opening and called out to let whoever it was know I was in the room. This was about 4:30pm. They apologized for the intrusion, but there was no explanation. I know wonder if they were trying to deliver a hair dryer, which I discovered was absent from the room only taking my shower at 9:00 pm in the evening. I tried calling Guest Services to request a hair dryer be deliver to my room but, after several lengthy, unanswered calls, I was directed to some lovely music. There was no explanation that I was on hold and could only assume I had been directed to some form of purgatory. So, I sat down to write this review. On the positive side, the service in the restaurant is always top notch - and the employees here do seem earnest in wanting me to have a positive experience here. read more

Stayed here for a wedding. Nice hotel, reasonably priced. The morning buffet was nothing special on weekdays: mass made eggs, bacon, sausage, cereal, pancakes, fruit, yogurt. Good selection but nothing to write home about. They upgrade it a little on weekends: waffles and a couple better dishes. Our room was clean and all the people were really nice. We were staying here because we were in town visiting family. When we told them we were staying at the Holiday Inn in Gaithersburg they all said that it has been recently renovated. Not sure when as the room didn't look renovated (there were stains on 2 of the lampshades. mold in the bathroom ceiling in the shower, the wallpaper in the bathroom was marked up and the furniture in the room was older looking). The main part of the hotel did look newer so maybe that is the part they renovated. We did use the indoor pool and that was very nice (the pool was heated). We also took advantage of the shuttle that will take you anywhere within 5 miles of the hotel and also to the Metro station. The shuttle does need a good cleaning inside as there was something not to pleasant looking on the floor in the middle row. read more

Had an emergency and needed a place-FAST! The staff was friendly however, there was an issue with the price. I made a reservation online in hopes of getting at least $20 off. When I came to check in, a different price appeared which didn't include taxes --ODD. They mentioned only it's because I want a king size - I then showed them my reservation was for a king. Anyway, they worked with me and of course there was the 250 deposit which they would not let me put on the SAME card I payed with. They tried to give me a hard time checking in but it was 11pm and he just said eff it! Pay the price you reserved online but deposit must be cash. Overall, the renovations is great! They let me change rooms with no problem. My first room had a funny mildew smell as if no one had stayed in it for years... My second room had great air circulation and the AC didn't make that funny noise. The room was so spacious and beautiful ! The decor is lovely and there were plenty of channels to choose from. read more

Best Kept Secret in Gaithersburg! We had an AMAZING Brunch on Mother's Day at the restaurant in the Holiday Inn on Montgomery Village Avenue! The food was creative, yet perfect! From the apple wood bacon, fresh jumbo shrimp and oysters, marinated flank I could cut with my fork, scalloped potatoes, salmon, watermelon salad to the carving station...we were blown away! If you want to take a shower, don't stay in this hotel. Tried to take a shower at 7:45 am and it was ice cold. When I called the front desk for help they were rude and said "we ran out of hot water because the place is full" so not only did my room not have hot water but the whole hotel did not have hot water. They didn't offer to put me in another room or get me hot water. I didn't get any sort of compensation. And I had to spend the day in DC without a shower. It was horrible my hair was disgusting. Never again. Horrible horrible horrible hotel. read more
