Rooms are decent sized, the wifi is awesome (guest room or public area), there's a nice buffet breakfast on the 2nd floor (it is a bit pricey at $18.50 AUD, but everything is expensive in Australia now-a-days), the upper level rooms have views of Sydney Harbour, Opera House and the Harbour Bridge, there's a ground floor coffee shop, there's car parking, and there's a Wooloomooloo market next door. The rooms are rated pretty cheap as well, book through: hotels.com The front desk and concierge were very helpful. My flight from LAX landed early and my room wasn't yet ready but i was able to leave my bags with the concierge and started my tourist visit early! I came back a few hours later after visiting Darling Harbour and our bags were already in our room. Complimentary In-room refrigerator as well. Only downside, the cable tv sucked and didn't offer enough channels, no ESPN to watch my American football either! And a person like me can't watch 24 hours of cricket!! Overall a good stay for me in Sydney. There are plenty of restaurants around the neighbor and Darling Harbor or Circular Quay are about a mile away from the hotel.

We came back at 2:50pm and they said wait 10 more minutes. We left and came back at 3:40pm and they said room is clean but we cannot go in yet. So we asked for a manager and a couple of minutes later we get our key. We go into our room and find staff still cleaning and we were both confused. We find out that the cleaning staff did not know about anything from the front desk. Tl;dr - Hotel room was nice(Premium room, two queen beds). Management could be better(communication). Cleaning staff is nice. Things to note after staying here: Day 1: Tissue box in restroom empty and only one toilet paper roll. Will be an issue for those that use lots of toilet paper. My mom's bed did not have a blanket. She was given two sheets that are supposed to cover the comforter. I was given a comforter but the two sheets covering it were not connected so every night the sheets would come off. Mattress sheets come off every night. Day 4(Last day): Receptionist that checked us out was nice and fast at 4:30am. One issue I had is that there was a group checking in and one of their friends was frustrated with the booking check-in process and one person in the group and a receptionist were arguing. The friend was trying to defuse the situation but both the receptionist and other dude kept escalating the situation. I wish the receptionist tried to defuse the situation as well but that didn't happen. After he was done with the group he checked us out quickly and in a quiet manner. Some other things: My aunt had a better experience with check in two days before. She came two hours before her check-in time and was able to get into her room within an hour.

However they connected me with the IT guy and after he wasn't able to resolve it, one of the workers came up to our room to help out. We discovered the internet only worked in one small area of the room, but we were able to make it work. The lobby had stronger internet and also two computers you can use. I do believe the internet issue will be fixed as soon as possible though as they seemed very eager for no one else to have this concern. There is an Enterprise Rent A Car station within the hotel which is very convenient in case you need to get a car during your trip. The cars are located in the garage below and are returned back to the same place. The hotel also has a restaurant on the lobby floor and a gym, but we never got a chance to check them out. As an IHG Platinum member I was upgraded to a nicer room which was very much appreciated. I highly recommend this hotel simply for their fantastic staff members and great location. They are right next door to the Kings Cross Train station, where you can catch the train to any other area.

If you look at the map of Sydney, it's not much that far from the city, then you think with quick cheap Uber you're there in no time. We went ahead and booked our hotel from an online event website and saved big! We entered our hotel and were greater by the staff, and we presented our names and ids and were given our hotel keys in no time. The hotel has a security feature where you must scan your key to use the hotel elevator. As we entered our room, it was as beautiful as ever and had a large bed with a nice TV. The shower had all the soaps and conditioners, and the water didn't take long to get hot!. There was a mini-fridge with plenty of towels for your convenience to use. The star of the show was them letting us extend our checkout time past the time due. We ended up paying more money to extend our stay and were very happy about that. Overall, it was an excellent hotel to stay at when in the beautiful city of Sydney away from the hustle and bustle. There were plenty of restaurants and grocery stores nearby as well as food. I recommend this hotel to save big instead of staying deep in the heart of Sydney as to where you are just a quick Iber ride away. There's plenty of stuff to do in this area, along with great restaurants and shopping. Customer service was superb and second to none!

Usually, I feel like the employees emphasize hospitality like always having a smile and going above and beyond when it comes to service. Hyatt has always been just that but in Sydney the hospitality definitely missed the mark. I'm not sure how Australia defines "customer service", we didnt get smiles, maps of the surrounding area or any genuine conversations. Usually the front desk agents enquire about where your traveling from and ask questions like how long are you here for etc. I did notice there was a big conference going on so they might have been overwhelmed but after visiting a few surrounding restaurants I think I'm just spoiled by American Customer Service. Nice hotel, in the heart of Sydneys CBD; I found it easy to get to my destinations like the zoo and the aquarium. So many things to do within a 5 mile radius. They didn't have a pool which was a little disappointed but overall I enjoyed my stay because I was always in the city. Not much to do at the resort which felt more like a hotel for business purposes.

Even though I made these arrangements in advance, when I didn't show up for the evening of my reservation, they marked me as a no show and gave away my room. Luckily, they had another room available. Also, if you wanted to meet traveling companions at the bar, the amount of space was incredibly small as to make it uncomfortable. So the options were to leave the hotel or sit outside at some larger table, right next to where the cars drive up. So overall, it was an uncomfortable stay.

First, the hotel changed it's name: It's now called the Sydney Harbour Hotel…read more This hotel is located right in middle of a very happening neighborhood called The Rocks and you are a Very short walk to the Sydney Opera House, the Sydney Bridge, the Cruise Port Terminal, Ferries to anywhere, the Art Museum, a 24 hour convenience store, great restaurants, bands and dancing at night 7 days a week, the Big Bus hop on and off stops, and high end and medium end shopping. In fact some of the rooms at this hotel have a view of the Opera House. I can't think of a better location to stay in for your first or second visit to Sydney than this hotel. This hotel was booked by my tour for a 5 night stay in April 2025. Now having said all this: This Hotel needs some major renovation or maybe demolition? I actually don't think they can knock it down because it's an "historic" property. There was a mold experiment going on in my room and other rooms people on the tour told me. The carpet is old and torn. The bathtub is so narrow that I could not stand without bending my toes. The grout is dirty, cracked moldy. Showers take 2x as long because the temperature controlled by 2 knobs from the early 19th century cannot keep the temperature at one setting--you have to keep on adjusting it. The towels are hit or miss--you feel like hitting someone with them the room needs so much work. The included breakfast is just okay, but the fresh fruit is good, not great. The lobby is drab and uninspiring with a small bar area with happy hour specials. From a bed comfort and room cleanliness standpoint the king bed was very comfortable and sheets and towels clean. My room looked out onto a construction site on the back end and on the last day of my stay (the other days were weekends and holidays), you could not sleep past 6 am when the heavy machinery starts pounding away. Make sure not to get a room facing the construction. The view from the small pool on the roof is excellent and so is the view of the Opera House. The folks that work here run the gamete from helpful to "your bothering me." I regularly asked for extra towels and bar soap at the front desk and got it without waiting for delivery. Basically if you can just stay out of your room here, you will be okay....

Certainly it's not a "5 star hotel" by any stretch of the imagination, but you really cannot find a better value that is so conveniently located in a historical part of town. We stayed here for the first time many years ago, and on our recent return to Australia we made a point of booking this hotel again. When one looks at photos of Sydney, they often see a gleaming skyline of shiny high rises. In contrast, this hotel is located in an area called The Rocks, which is the oldest part of town and is essentially where the city of Sydney began. This district is full of cobblestone streets, alleyways, and steps, creating a labyrinth among the old and historic buildings. The hotel is just steps away from the Circular Quay, and from the rooftop you have incredible views of the the Opera House to the east and the the Sydney Harbour Bridge to the north. The hotel has a large central atrium, and most floors (except for the very top levels) overlook this atrium. It's a bit dark though, because there isn't a lot of of lighting installed along the walls. The room that we had was small but comfortable, but other than the desk chair there was no other place to sit except for the bed. The bathroom was showing some age and the water pressure could have been a bit better. Nevertheless, for our needs it was just right. Our hotel booking included breakfast, which was a sumptuous buffet with an omelet station and a juicing station. There were many hot and cold options, and a fine selection of breads, muffins, pastries, and fresh fruit. We also ordered room service on our first evening since we were jet-lagged, and were stunned by the relatively low cost of our meal. Basically, the entrees we picked were the same price as eating at the restaurant, with only a nominal (A$3) tray charge. On our last night we ate in the hotel restaurant, and were pleased with the quality of the meal. Our server was a little awkward and nerdy, but endearingly so. Our only issue with our meal was since the restaurant is in the atrium, it was dark at night and rather chilly as well. The staff - front desk, restaurant, bar, room service, housekeeping - was friendly and responsive. We really appreciated the fact that even though we arrived at the hotel at 8:00am (our flight from the US landed just after 6:00am), they let us check in right away, so we were able to freshen up before we headed out into the city to ward off the jet lag. Outstanding customer service overall, and we have no doubt that we'll be staying here again on our next trip to Sydney.
