These people actually care, they literally show and give compassion and empathy for their patients they show so much love. I really do love that place because it felt like home. Holiday Manor is "AN ANSWER TO PRAYER for my Family".  This facility and staff is AMAZING!  My Mother-In-Law suffers from Dementia, Alzheimer's, and Multiple Personality Disorders and quite frankly, NO OTHER FACILITY HAS HELPED MY MOM-IN-LAW & OUR FAMILY LIKE HOLIDAY MANOR!!  We are forever grateful to their Administrators and Staff that understand how to treat and deal with all the diagnoses our mom has because it is extremely challenging. The facility is LOCKED & SECURE and vistors are monitored so that we can REST ASSURED that she is protected.  The Staff are caring and very responsive to any questions we have.  They have programs to keep their residents engaged and supported.  One of our favorite things we saw that we love is their "Personal Care/Salon" Station they have planned for their residents.  It's the cutest, and it will help my mother-in-law feel at home, because she loved going to the hair salon even at 90 years old.  My mother-in-law is definitely a handful to deal with, but Holiday Manor staff has been SECOND TO NONE IN THEIR ABILITIES to deal with all her issues.    If you're looking for a "Home Away From Home", Holiday Manor is it.  We are grateful to the friend who recommended them to us. read more

Please conduct a thorough investigation including social workers from local hospitals and local ombudsman programs. I'm a current resident who has experienced the treatment and food here so I hope my first-hand experience gives this less than glowing review some credability. Holiday Manor Skilled Nursing Facility was recommended to me by my orthopedic surgeon in Glendale CA. I'm in need of two surgeries (including a Total Shoulder Replacement, @ which I'm honestly dreading due to length of time in rehab-mode). My doctor has had a relative (wife's mom) in Holiday Manor Skilled Nursing Facility, Canoga Park CA. Was very enthusiastic in recommending Holiday Manor in nearby Canoga Park. Mostly I'll be in need of a great rehab team, in that the shoulder replacement requires meticulous up front care. I know all about joint replacements, and the danger is NOT getting on rehab the day after surgery. For in my right knee replacement of 2015? I was reluctant, fell a little bit behind in my rehab. Which caused enough problems to require an additional "Manipulation Under Anesthesia." I do not want to go through lengthy rehab again, so Dr. O said Holiday Manor is the place for you. "Great, caring staff, upbeat facility, fantastic Physical Therapy team, A-List Nursing staff, great kitchen and food - just an overall great vibe and facility - so here I am for stage one (pre surgery in a few weeks). Holiday Manor has been everything Dr. O said it was. I'm so confident heading into thie surgery, knowing I'll be around this great admin staff et al, around a great facility that really goes the extra mile. Staff is friendly, facility is clean, my clients seem to like it here, one of the better facilities I have visited.

My mother has been at this facility for almost 2 years and while the actual staff that takes care of the patients is amazing, the administrators/high up staff is horrible. I don't feel like my concerns are taken seriously sometimes and they are just quick to divert the blame and say what they did is correct. The other day I happened to go when the power had gone out and I did not see any staff for a solid 10 minutes. I walked in to visit my mom and it was like a ghost town, I saw one nurse in 5 mins who told me the staff was all on the other side in a meeting. It surprised me to hear that the facility/staff do not have a plan in place when something happens (earthquake, power outage, etc.). After 10 mins a nurse finally came over to the station, these patients while for the most part are okay...do get upset with each other and get physical. There is ALWAYS someone at the station on the computer or doing paperwork. I took my concern and called the director of nursing the following day who diverted blame, she said they had a plan in place and staff all knew what to do in case of an emergency. She said the staff was probably doing their rounds, I again told her that I did not see anyone coming in or out or rooms for a good 10 minutes. And when I did see staff they were talking like they didn't know what to do and everyone was like scrambling trying to figure out how to put patients to bed. The director of nursing again brushed off my concern but said she would "look into it". I was so upset and could not believe that she was literally trying to lie to me that her staff was on it when I was physically there and know what I saw. read more

Had my loved one stay at this nursing home. It was our family's first experience with a nursing home and they really removed the bad stigma away we had in nursing homes. Alphonsus, their marketing director walked us through the process, was very patient, and catered to our every need. The nursing staff were very friendly and very attentive. Run away unless you're okay with your family member chancing organ failure! My grandma ended up in ICU for acute renal failure from a UTI that is completely preventable had the staff been doing appropriate assessments and caught it early. Here we are now, having to do dialysis as her kidneys are so injured her Foley catheter is even having purulent/pus-like output. What's worse is we, the family, are the ones who caught her in a SEPTIC state. We are a family with medical background so I feel so bad for those families who do not know what to look for and don't have an idea how sick their family members are already in this facility and are left unattended. One time my grandpa had complaint of chest pain and the nurse Rosalin straight up asked my aunt what she should do about it and was hesitant to call the ambulance (what??). This facility used to be good but had gone downhill with new ownership/management. Many of the good staff left. There are still a handful left but obviously this place needs to invest more in their staff so they can properly take care of their patients and increase their standards of care for PATIENT SAFETY. It is so infuriating having to see your family member suffer especially over something so preventable as UTI. On top of that, it is always us family catching whatever is wrong-- cellulitis, UTI asking for urine culture, simple hygiene care. This facility needs a lot of change, otherwise I truly fear for their residents' safety. read more

The admissions person is a bit... eccentric. Anyone who has been through hell with how the medical industry treats sick older people should know that when release happens it's often fast and you have to make hasty choices about who to entrust the life of a family member with. The admissions person suggested I drop everything to do a tour and we needed to consult with them to: A.) Hear their side of the story on the lawsuit the state filed and won for patient neglect leading to death. B.) Wanted to speak with me regarding all the bad reviews. Who even mentioned reviews? Guilty conscious? If placement did that's a breech of confidentiality as I don't get told why other facilities deny. C.) Wanted to talk to me about possible "expectations". I explained my expectation was only he'd get the medical care prescribed by his discharging doctor, and that we know he is in a strange place medically right now, but we just want him observed and treated with kindness. Apparently, that was a bit too much for her? She still wanted to talk about it. D.) Pay for their overpriced non 24/7 caregivers. I called placement and said I understand doing paperwork today but I have too much going on to do some ridiculous conference and tour, and that yes, she was right, this was my last pick second only to Canyon Oaks, and we just needed to secure him a safe place where he can have his caregivers. Placement felt if I spoke with admissions about it they'd understand and accommodate. The placement worker was surprised she was handing out ultimatums like that. Anyone knows with people struggling with a rare infection, having medicine reactions, and feels like the world went crazy knows always having people around they are bonded too makes the people struggling less afraid, and more likely to comply. Not only did she deny the private caregivers (licensed and all), but wanted to overcharge me for hers and then proceeded to say they don't allow 24/7 care. Um, sounds really damn suspicious to me. Scared of another lawsuit maybe? If they deny something so blatantly in the patients best interest than they are not working for the patient. They're working for themselves. Holiday Manor, I'm sorry social media has made it so easy for organization transparency but you're not going to catch more flies with strong arming and hiding. You guys knew we were in an unsavory position and that most people in our position would fold and you'd collect the big fat insurance check & do as you please, lording threats over families heads and generally being terrible isn't a good business model. Do not trust this place. Even if you have to drive to freaking long beach, do it. I've had to talk to so many admissions at many nursing homes and not one of them acted like this one. Accept responsibility for the fact **a woman died on your watch**, and show the public you can be trusted. Banishing licensed caregivers and being shady isn't going to do much for you or your poor clients. read more

My mother has dementia and is very difficult. Other Nursing facilities drugged her so she wouldn't move. This facility took her off of those meds and allowed her to just roam free and to be herself. She's like a 3 year old but is very happy and the staff is extremely loving to her. I think when looking for a nursing care facility you have to really check them out. For me this place saved my Mother's Quality of life and my sanity. I'm very grateful. There is no perfect solution and I've seen my Mom (that I out of my own pocket paid) in horrible places. read more

Both of our parents are in the facility.My mom has been there for 4 years because of Alzheimers Dementia and recently our dad was diagnosed the same.The facility is clean and accommodating to their needs and most of our request.Some staff will do more than what is needed especially Edna Viloria (nsg director),Cora Spang (Social services dept) and Karen Silva (activity director).Sad to see Cora S. leave the company after 11 years.Also special mention to the licensed vocational nurses Edgar,Cora,Rosanna,Florence and Elvis and RNs Anna Lagmay and Rosalie and Mary.CNAs Joseph,Azenith,Patti,Nef and Ricardo.Felipe from dietary dept and Augustin from maintenance dept. Holiday Manor is an amazing facility. My Dad was there for a year and a half. He was 92 1/2 when he passed. He was diabetic. They were always so attentive with his meds, if an infection developed, if he needed more insulin, or if he needed to be changed. They gave him great care. It may not be beautifully decorated inside but Edgar, Edna, and the rest of the staff kept me informed if there were any changes to my dad's condition. That was very important since I live in Florida. My dad was not the easiest to person and they interacted with him perfectly. Thank you to everyone that worked with my Dad. My mother was at Holiday Manor for approx, 7 years. I can't say this facility is horrible but I also cannot say this facility is great. We saw a decline in how this facility operated through the years. They have a new administrator. She seems to care about the facility and improving things. They really needs to clean house and get rid of some of the worthless, lazy staff they have if she wants to improve how this facility runs. It's this type of staff that can make and even breaks a facility. When we decided to take mom home, I can say I was pretty much done with this facility. We found ourselves unhappy more and more each day with the care my mom was receiving,. Her regular day CNA was great.You could tell she loved her job and she treated her residents with care. However, the night CNA and Day CNA who covered when moms regular CNA was off, were lazy lazy lazy.. Several times, mom was found soiled. Her laundry basket was always full of soiled clothes. She would go through 2-3 outfits a day because she was not being changed. They have some great CNA's who really care about the residents..... But..they also have a lot of lazy CNA's who are just there for a paycheck. If you put your mom in this facility or any other facility, you have to make sure you are visiting your loved on on a regular bases to ensure they are being cared for correctly. We decided to take mom home. We always told ourselves we would not let our mom pass away in any facility. We wanted her to pass away in peace, surrounded by her family. At the end, Mom knew she was home. You could see it. She looked so peaceful. The lord took her home in May, 2017. read more
