The cutest and CLEANEST motel I have EVER been to. Hands down. Very affordable and the best choice if stopping through Clayton. I LOVE the vintage feel. They also had the cutest elephant towel thing on the bed when we walked in-just put a smile on all our faces. And to top it off the breakfast included was so simple and good -just what we wanted before getting back on the road! We were looking at a couple other choices in Clayton but come to find out, they are just more expensive, dirtier and looks like Super 8 even has the dreaded bed bugs. Cons: rm 31 no bathroom fan & window is bolted shut bathroom has zero electrical outlets Room has few electrical outlets but one power Strip which is not placed to where you could Plug a blow dryer in & use it in front of the Mirror. The power strip has room AC unit plugged into it too so unsure if anything else plugged in would throw a breaker? First off let me say this was the cleanest place I think I've ever stayed. I need their cleaning crew to do my house. It was spotless! I was so impressed. The vintage charm was great. The rooms were quiet. The water was hot and the air conditioning was cold. We parked right outside our room and felt very safe. We had been on vacation in Montana when our account was compromised and our bank in central TX froze our account/cards. We don't do credit cards and we're in a panic. We had reservations at a large chain motel in Colorado who wouldn't allow us to check in without a credit card to pre auth. We were calling and calling hotels along our route and being told no over and over. We thought we were going to have to drive 1400 miles home without stopping and we were tired and emotional. Patrick took our call and gave us his last room. He left us the key since we were still north of Denver when we got in touch with him. He allowed us to pay cash in the morning. We feel so blessed by their hospitality and kindness. There are still good people in this world and Patrick is one of them! read more

We were on a long trip and knew hotel prices would be high in some places we were going, so to keep the cost of the trip under control we took a chance with motels and a hostel on a few nights. One of those gambles did not pay off at all, but this one did. This is the best motel I've ever stayed in. Extremely clean. Compared to the descriptions in some of the reviews, the employee at the front desk seemed pretty reserved when I came in. Possibly because I was wearing a mask? Clean with friendly owners. Significantly less than in-town options. All we do here is stay overnight while passing through, and this is good for that. The building is a '50s-style old school motel. I think the owner said it was built in the late '50s. You'll find a little deferred maintenance here and there, but it's really kept clean, safe, and comfortable. read more

Surfed the web and found this jewel of a place to stay with my wife on our way to Aspen from central Texas....what a great waypoint! Family owned business for ~20 years! They took a Motel built in the 1950's and poured their energy into it to make it a very quaint and pleasant place to stay and relax! Sharon is the matriarch, Jack the patriarch and the parents of Stephanie who runs it with her husband Patrick....got to know them because they made the stay personal and one that ensured we'll be coming back again! The town's location is remote and offers little in attractions other than the Eklund Hotel downtown....but we were just passing through and this was perfect! We gave it 5-stars because we're not stuck on paying high prices for a clean and comfortable place to spend the night....keep the money in your pocket that you'd spend at one of the chain hotels and just enjoy a little nostalgia by staying here! read more

This place was a delightful surprise. It's a great price for a clean room. I rolled up to Holiday Motel at about 10pm on a Thursday. Thankfully, Clayton's not a hoppin' spot, so they had room. I'll admit, my expectations are low for independent, tiny motels. Basically, all I want is clean, warm and safe. I found the room to be great. It was slightly chilly outside, and was pleased to see that the room was already warm. It was very clean, and the 50's-style bathroom was rather quaint. They're pet-friendly as well, with a nice little spot in front to walk your pooch. The TV seemed to have a lot of channels, but I wasn't terribly interested in watching much. There was a sort of child-lock on channels with Mature programming, so I couldn't watch The Walking Dead, but it was no great loss. They offer a modest breakfast of coffee, Sunny D, bagels and cream cheese, and bananas/tangerines. The owners were very nice and seem to take pride in their establishment. If I find myself in Clayton again, I'm definitely staying here. read more

The only hotel in Clayton that does not have the train running through your room! You will hear (barely) the train horn blow at the crossings in town but not as loudly as at the other hotels/motels. The room was clean, bathroom spotless, the TV old but functioning, and the beds were quite comfy. The towels are thin and somewhat rough. The bath amenities (soap etc.) are the lower quality end of average. The room could have used some maintenance such as spackling some small holes, paint touch up, and replacing the wall paper in the bathroom. Good service but you'll have to call to make a reservation by phone as they don't have a web site. They had an extra electrical outlet strip for us in the room and provided a blow dryer when requested. Coffee, bagels and fruit are available in the Lobby in the morning which was a welcome amenity. The family who lives on site and manages it are pleasant. I'd stay there again but wish the price were somewhat less to be more in line with the "motel" experience. read more

This place straight up answered my prayers. I'd been driving from Texas all day and had started looking for a place to stay hours before. The motels I checked were either over priced chains or scary and filthy private places. I finally made it to NM and as I sped by the Holiday Motel, the sign caught my eye for some reason. I stopped and looked it up in yelp, then happily called and checked the price. I asked the man about safety, because I had a soft roof pack and was concerned about it being broken into. He confidently told me it would be fine. I went back immediately and got a room. It was reasonably priced and just what I needed. Cozy, clean, warm, very quiet and a real bathtub! And free wifi! The bagels with whipped cream cheese in the morning were the topper. I loved the Holiday Motel. Right down to the pictures on the walls and the sweet blue curtains. After an unfortunate incident with a dirty room in Amarillo, we ended up back on the road at 10:00 at night, desperately trying to find a place for our family to sleep after being on the road all day. This place had great reviews so we called ahead they graciously stayed up to welcome us at 11 p.m. The place is owned by a couple who has run it for 20 years, he told me, and you can tell they put a lot of heart into it. We had been traveling during the pandemic for the last week and finding hotels that felt safe and comfortable were very hard to come by. Walking into our room at Holiday Motel was like walking into home. The rooms are quaint, comfortable, and super clean. We were told they were freshly painted. The beds were super comfortable and everyone in the family agreed it was the best night of sleep we'd had on the whole trip! The price was incredibly reasonable and they welcomed our dog for a small pet fee. I truly cannot recommend this place enough. If you're as picky about where you stay as I am, stay here--you won't regret it. read more

This place is incredible. We got in late and the lady up front met me and run me through the whole check in quickly. We got to our room and opened the door and the first thing we noticed was how clean it smelled. The room was spotless even the restroom. Nice flat screen tv. Bed was really good and sheets were clean. If I had to find something wrong it would be the shower is dated. But believe me I'll be recommending this place to everyone. This motel is probably the best place in this area for a stop while traveling thru. The facilities are older, but EXTREMELY CLEAN. The towel elephant was a friendly welcome that added smiles on our faces. The owners were friendly and accommodating to late night travelers. I called and left a voice message the morning we began our drive and the call was promptly returned.
