This hotel was a warm and comfortable respite from a cold icy night drive. Slept very well. Very comfortable, clean, affordable.

WISH I COULD GIVE IT ZERO STARS! This place was GROSS! Poop in a bathtub that wasn't clean, it felt dirty when I walked in my room but I was tired, had driven 7 hours with 3 kids. The staff are treated so awful. Although one lady was so nice to me-I found out she quit that night and the other 2 "workers" came knocking on my door after midnight waking up me and my kids. I ended up leaving for another hotel, waking up my kids and finding another hotel b/c I didn't want to give them my business and b/c they weren't going to stop bothering me for a mistake their staff made. They didn't take ownership and it was the worst experience I have ever had. I hope they go out of business. AWFUL! read more

SCAM ALERT!!! I reloaded the yelp app just to give this review. Short version. I said I need a single room. Yes sir no problem that will be $100 we do not accept cash. Is that even legal? I give her the card. The second the card cleared she looked up and said oh I'm sorry we don't have water. I said like drinking water? She said no any water. I'm in disbelief!! I said so you just took my money but I can't shower, brush my teeth, or have coffee but you took my money. Then she said yeah and there's no refunds. I noticed a hand written note on the counter in bold letters, we do not accept cash for any reason under any circumstances. That was the first red flag because this has been an issue or that sign wouldn't be there. So basically the scam is, take their money, THEN tell em you don't get what you pay for then scream at em, don't give it back and hope they leave so you don't have to clean a room. It worked!! I was furious and left without a refund before the cops were called as I was stunned at the theft and not cooperating. The minimum wage worker wasn't smart enough to understand I wasn't mad the water was off I was mad she stole my money knowing the water was off. Then yelled it's been long a day at me. Overpriced for the stay but cheapest in town. I'm just passing through so I don't know why accommodations in Clayton are so expensive. I paid for the room through Expedia, but when I got here, they wanted a card for incidentals on file. I gave them a credit card and they charged me for the room TWO additional times. The poor kid at the front desk had no idea what she was doing so she was texting someone on WhatsApp to help. That person did refund me, but only for ONE charge. For whatever reason, the WhatsApp person never refunded both charges and I got no explanation. I called Expedia but they couldn't reach anyone at the hotel. I called my credit card company to dispute it, but have to wait until it's no longer pending. On top of this, my key cards kept deprogramming every time I left my room. And they only man the desk from 2-4, per their sign at the desk. read more

I was so tired I checked in and crash within minutes after 9 hours of driving. Bed was comfortable as well as pillows. Cleanliness is questionable. I wouldn't bring my family here, but decent for just a cheap bed for the night. No hot water just lukewarm. So I skipped shower. Breakfast is brown bagged. Top drawer of dresser keeps sliding open so I put my suitcase to block it closed. I'd rather spend a few more bucks at a nicer hotel down the road. read more

Total Fail! We stopped here and were sorely disappointed. The sheets on both beds were stained. It isn't clear if this is a failure of housekeeping or the laundry, these sheets should not have been put on a bed. There was a simple, but functional, table with two chairs in the room. However, there were no power outlets near the table, which made using computers a short lived option. Finally, the fan in the bathroom sounded like it hadn't ever been lubricated. It started with the screech of banshees, and then quieted down into a loud rumbling noise. We left 10 minutes after we checked in. The desk clerk expressed sympathy but did not offer a refund. Generally I've been very pleased with Super 8 hotels. They're one of our go-to places when we're on the road. Our experience at this one left a bad taste in my mouth. The room itself was fine. I left my computer charger in the room plugged into the bedside lamp. When I got to our next destination I called to ask for it to be shipped to my home. The woman who answered the phone said she'd talk to the cleaning staff and the manager and get back to me the following day. Following day: No phone call. So the day after this I called again and was told that no charger was found in any room. Something is not right here! read more

We showed up late at night (1am) with our son. During the night here kept saying he was itchy. We told him to go to sleep. The next morning we found his bed crawling with bed bugs. I went to complain only to find no staff. After calling them on the phone they did nothing about it. read more

If you absolutely have to stay overnight in Clayton, NM, this place is nicer than the Days Inn down the street...and cheaper. Decent breakfast too. There is a small lake with dinosaur tracks about half an hour away. read more

We stop at this hotel for an evening of rest and shower. 5 minutes after we check in and pay we are informed there is no hot water. I would have been nice to have been told this before we checked in. It is incredible that after 3 weeks of having been in this motle from 6-27-2019 to 6-30-19 I was charged $ 200.00 dlls on 7-18-2019. First, without communicating with me via phone or email and showing me photos that according to this phantom / scam charge, it is because the room was full of water and everything thrown and dirty, I cannot believe the degree of lies and descents to make a false charge. No staff at hotel to help or answer questions. There is literally a sign that says "staff only available from 2pm--2am, leave your key to check out." The rooms were sprayed down with intense chemicals so bad none of us could sleep. All the sheets, blankets and towels as well. There was nothing useable for sleeping or showering. This Super 8 might not look the best from the outside, but it's kinda cute...after a while. Although the building and interior is old, the space was clean when I stayed. Inside, the rooms were lightly remodeled and kept clean. Basic amenities are provided along with breakfast. Next door is a taqueria and Subway so there's food very close by. Staff was helpful and will supply toothbrush, paste, deodorant, shaving supplies, etc. if needed/requested. Price wasn't that cheap but lower than other places in the area. As a young person, I'd be okay with staying here again. read more

Sheets were stained. No smoke alarm. Hairs around toilet and shower. Bugs were flying around. Front desk manager was not polite. We arrived late, he acted less than enthused to check us in. You get what you paid for. The hallways reeked of cigarette, there was no elevator. The parking lot creeped me out. The bathroom in our room was difficult to turn on the shower and we found not one, but three different hairs on the wall in the bathroom. Floors looked gross. The building was old but looked like it had a renovation at some point in the last 10 years. The shower head was so short I didn't bother to wash my hair. I'm only 5'6" so you can imagine how low that is. The blanket was scratchy and not soft. I overall left the hotel just feeling like I had a layer of gross on me. We stayed here 2 weeks ago on our way to Colorado and it was small but clean and adequate. On our stay last night the floors were unswept, there were leaves and chunks of mud on the floor in our room and a dead spider in the bathroom. When I turned the bed down there were black hairs on the sheets and a dirty footprint. They did send housekeeping to change the sheets right away. Best customer service ever! The manager, Jennifer was so helpful. The ice machine was out of order, but she got me some, my pillow was too fat, so she got me a different one, the TV was acting up, so she reset the satellite.. Always with a huge smile! The room was clean and attractive. The continental breakfast was simple fare, but with the summer discount Super 8 offered, the price was half the cost of the other hotel I'd considered. The only problem was the wifi, it didn't have enough speed, there was a thunder storm that knocked out the satellite which wasn't their fault. What can I say about this place, two words- no pride. The room was very dirty, my dog found a sucker, gerbil salt lick and a bandage on the floor. Super 8 By Windom in Clayton Texas DO NOT STAY AT THIS MOTEL, AND THIS IS WHY I had to ring a bell and wait a long time, to get someone in the office, to answer a question or get what we needed. The ice machine did not work, the refrigerator in our room did not work and repair did not happen. When we got there the room door was open I confronted the office as to why. was a mess and person who fixed stuff in room left tools and the furniture was pulled out and looked like they did not bother to put back where it should be.everything was connected on a power strip which is a fire risk. the girl when i asked her said "if your room looks like this all the rooms look like this". The ice machine was broken, so you had to go to the front desk to get ice, which they carefully monitored. In the morning when I asked for ice they said they had no ice. that was the last straw. this was a very bad experience and I would not recommend anyone staying at this poorly run motel. The space for the breakfast area, Check in and Entry to the motel is about 9 feet square, which meant that people were coming and going past the 2 tables while guests were trying to eat their breakfast. read more
