I finally was able to attend a Elite Yelp event and meet Julie! She greeted us with different mimosa options, donuts, coffee and Yelp goodie mugs! She was a fabulous hostess! The Holiday Pop-up Shops did not disappoint either. The boutique shops had such unique gifts of all kinds. I was able to have my mother in law come with me and we both were delighted we found some Christmas gifts for our loved ones. The vendors were so friendly and helpful. I don't remember my last in-person YES event, and this one was perfect for bringing it back! Julie rocked the drink station offering coffee, mimosas, and donuts for us all, and so many vendors were set up and ready to greet us. I had so much fun going shop to shop, finding out about the different local businesses and hearing their passions and stories! Everyone had business cards on hand, and I happily collected them, slowly following each business on instagram after this event. I'm so excited to visit some of their brick and mortar stores, too! A couple of my favorite pop ups included macarons from DISCO and the plant people. My partner and I loved perusing through the variety of shops that were set up, and it was probably the first festive "event" I've gone to this season - perfect for ringing in the Christmas cheer and holiday shopping. read more

Every vendor was bright and cordial. There were treats and drinks. I bought gifts for people. There were unique gifts that I was able to purchase. Oklahomans are the best people. 2015 holiday shopping doesn't get any hipper than shopping in the holiday "pop-up" shops. They literally "pop-up" in a day. They are there for several special weeks before Christmas each year. You can't miss them. They look like giant snow globes.  THE CONCEPT  Not that I know really what the concept creators were thinking, but it must have been something along the lines of.... Wouldn't it be cool if local vendors could drop into Midtown for a week right before Christmas and take up shop in giant snow globe looking spaces...?  We would want as many vendors to get the chance to "pop-up" as possible, so let's switch it up each week. That way local OKCers have something new to explore each week when they come. And let's throw in some holiday music, a giant Christmas tree, a Christmas tree lot, food trucks, and be sure to invite a local non-profit doing good in our community to come in, take up shop, hang out for the few weeks and sell their products for a good cause while we're there. Sounds like a cool plan, huh? --- Well, it's an awesome plan. I love the vendors. I went each week this year. I saw so many amazing locally made products. I can't wait for them to "pop-up" again next year. The lot they "pop-up" on is located next to Bleu Garten at the intersection of 8th & Hudson.  I hope they "pop-up" again next year. These pop-up shops are really cool. To shelter themselves from the start of winter in Oklahoma, they are inside of dome looking clear structures. Each space is small, but able to fit a good amount of inventory. One could easily just peer in and get a good sense of what's inside without having to go in. Every weekend five new shops are featured. The first week included shops like Urbane and Pencil Shavings Studio. Excited to see the next few shops! I had never had the privilege of shopping at the holiday pop-up shops. With two of my very best friends in tow, we braved the icy Oklahoma winds and with coffee in hand headed out. What a joyous, fun shopping experience! These local shops are overflowing with fun, eclectic, unique items you won't find anywhere else! From hand-made soaps, linen sprays and beautiful woven sweaters and coats to hilarious gifts, bbq seasonings, locally brewed beer, fresh cut Christmas trees and delectable sweet treats. We spent over an hour wandering around the lot visiting each shop, squealing and ooohhhhhhing at the assortment of items for purchase. And the stuff is only the beginning. Can I just take a brief moment to write about the phenomenal vendors who put these pop-ups together? Everyone was so helpful and so kind and - it doesn't even really need to be said, but I'm going to - sooo talented. Support your local stores and take advantage of the amazing quality and variety of our Oklahoma businesses. This is an annual event that I look forward to each year. It's such a fun concept that introduces people to many local shops that they may otherwise never have known to visit. Making local shopping accessible is something we can all appreciate. I love that The Big Friendly Craft Beer Bus is also on site along with a food truck option and Katiebug's hot chocolate. Went here last weekend and what a clever idea! Perfect location in the heart of midtown okc which is booming by the way. Different vendors every few weeks so if you visit be sure to visit again in a few weeks to see new vendors. The shops themselves are small and can get very crowded so try to come when they first open or close. Little van selling hot coco and there was a band singing Christmas music. It was freezing cold when we arrived at the outdoor shops, but we were immediately offered hot apple cider spiked with cinnamon liqueur. The subsequent fire in my belly warmed me up and I was able to leisurely explore the geodesic domes set about. I had been to a few of the participating stores, but it was great to take a look at the ways they set up the domes and revel in the intimate shopping experience. Some of the domes I was unfamiliar with, and got to take a look at the goods they deemed important enough to bring with them. A great format, fantastic local vendors, and all around heartwarming holiday fun. read more

Neat holiday experience! Very small w/ a few shops to browse through. Small tent-like places (I would say maybe 5-8?) where each shop sold something comparable but different. Locally owned places come out to let others sample what their store is all about. House decorations, clothing, food, and I believe you can buy your own tree too. Shops are pretty small, so be prepared to feel a little tight when you're inside shopping. I believe they sell food/snacks/drinks here too! The Holiday Pop-Up Shops have become a Christmas tradition for me! I work downtown, so it's a quick trip over to midtown to check out local shops and get some Christmas shopping done (sometimes I admit the gifts are for myself...). I love that the shops rotate each week and I've discovered some of my now favorite local businesses through these pop-ups. Cargo Room mobile boutique, Chirps and Cheers and Plenty Mercantile are just a few who I had never heard of before seeing them at these shops within the past few years that I now frequent regularly. So far this year, I've really loved Harper & Grey House, and that one might be added to my list of discoveries. These pop-up shops are great to visit before a Thunder game, during your lunch break or just for a weekend out of the house when you need to get some shopping done. It's a great way to keep your Christmas shopping local, and so convenient because you have all kinds of gifts in one place. Just love the little dome village in Midtown! The Holiday Pop-Up Shops join together some of the most inspired retailers and vendors in town. The shops change weekly, but this week had fun at the SNL Photo Booth--ordering Xmas cards and prints from our session. Loved the decor, bath products, and other fine giftables from Sara Kate Studios and Dutch Floral & Home. And Urbane decor continues to impress with unique and well-priced items like the iPhone camera lens, that allows you to take wide-angle and fish-eye shots with your phone and charming serving platters that look like retro French signage. Some kind of soft indie Christmas radio station on, fresh Christmas trees, an airstream of hot co-co with gourmet all natural different types of marshmallows, local shopping, and so much more will make even The Grinch himself ooze out happy spirits. I love the holiday pop-up shops in Midtown. Every week a variety of Oklahoma City businesses rotate through providing wonderful Christmas gifts and ideas, along with food, Beverages, and drink. The day that we went, we stopped by the Western Museum shop, out on a limb, rose gold, and a wonderful little toy store whose name I can't remember. The whole scene is very festive. Each of the shops are set up and what looks like a snow globe / igloo. The holiday spirit fills the air, and makes you really love downtown Oklahoma City. It's a great way to support local shops, gather and see people you haven't seen in awhile, and share the holiday spirit. read more

What a fun change of pace this was! I loved all of the unique gift ideas and local items that were available at the Pop-Up Shops. I went with my Husband and it was our intention to buy things for other people - which unfortunately didn't happen, but we did buy plenty of things for ourselves. We particularly liked Blue 7 and Collected Thread, both of which I've heard of, but had never actually been to. I can't wait to go back when there is a different crop of shops there. I really enjoyed the atmosphere. We went about 8:00 on Saturday night, and there really wasn't much of a crowd. We were able to just walk down from Packard's, do a little leisurly, non-mall chaos shopping, and stroll on back to our car when we were done. Great simple night out. read more

I am indeed a fan, mostly just of the "idea" of the Pop-Up Shops at this point in time, though. There just wasn't much of anything to actually see. I believe there were 5 shops total and a little tree farm. The shops there were pretty neato, though and ranged from very pricey and fancy women's apparel to vintage furniture. The pop-up shops are such a fun idea especially for the holidays. When I told out of town friends what I was doing they were so jealous and they had every right to be. Who knew Oklahoma could be so cool? This year the pop-up shops are in Midtown right next to Bleu Garten. It is such a fun location and gives you a chance to get some food at Bleu Garten either before or after shopping. I love the HUGE Christmas tree in the middle that is lite up at night and is beautiful. There are 5 shops total and a small tree farm. The shops change weekly (check out the website for the current shops) and so far, I've been 2 different weeks and enjoyed the experience both times. Even though there are only 5 buildings, several of the shops share the space so it is probably closer to 8 shops. The buildings are dome shape and from the outside they don't look like they have much room but it was easy to get around in them and they can hold at least 5 people without feeling too crowded. Regarding the price range, there is a definite range from expensive to cheaper but still beautiful. Even in the shops that were out of my price range especially during the holidays I still had fun browsing and the owners were all so friendly that I'm going to have to check out their actual stores now. If you are looking for less expensive but still beautiful items, like me don't worry you can find that as well. I highly recommend taking time to just look around the shops because you can find such unique holiday gifts and met some wonderful owners. Last week, some of the shops there were A Date with Iris, Folk.Life, Ladies and Gentleman Fine Hats, Prairie Gothic, The Make-Up Bar and Green Bambino. I was able to find some beautiful bracelets at Folk Life that will be great for Christmas. I can't wait to go back this week and explore again and I will of course be back next year. read more

What a unique idea! I thoroughly enjoyed my time at the Holiday Pop-Up Shops. There was drinks being served, Christmas trees being sold and great corky shops housed out of man-made igloos/snow globes. How cool! I loved the space, atmosphere and community. Always a fun trip to take during the holidays, I just wish everyone else in town didn't have the same idea! Many of the shops were so overcrowded that you couldn't turn around to look at something you may have missed. It definitely made it a less laid back shopping experience than I'd hoped for.
