Let me be clear: I spent zero dollars on this cake. A coworker brought it in, I was hungry, and my blood sugar was issuing ultimatums. So I did what any reasonable adult would do when faced with a huge mascarpone-laden cake sitting in the break room -- I grabbed a slice. Maybe two. I'm not here to answer questions. Now I would say that the Kirkland Signature tiramisu round cake is technically a "scoop pudding cake." This is a polite way of saying Costco fully expects you to abandon all dignity and eat this thing directly from the container with a serving spoon at 2am on a Tuesday. Is this an authentic Italian tiramisu? No. This is the 48-roll, bulk paper towel interpretation of tiramisu. It's not going to be the best you've had by a long shot. And yet... there are rumors of people eating it in the Costco parking lot to destroy the evidence before going home. I choose to believe these heroes walk among us. Some reviewers complain about the lack of rum or whiskey. To them I say: be the change you wish to see. Drizzle some on your plate, let it soak in, and suddenly you're much better equipped to deal with Bill Lumbergh and his TPS reports. You're welcome. Overall, this cake is a little light on flavor and about as authentic as a gondola ride in a shopping mall. But as a mid-workday snacky snack, it gets the job done.
