We had a dog with us so I appreciated the areas with grass. There were some nice short walking areas. Because we had a dog, we needed to eat outside and there were two nice picnic tables for us to use. Very handy. There was a huge amount of space for parking, a side lot, some street parking, and some parking near the picnic table. This was hugely helpful as we had several cars and needed to transfer a car load of items. Good place to connect. Apparently many others thought so as well as it was quite busy.

They told me about some events happening in the area. Came from Alabama to see my family, so I had no idea what was going on. The food is amazing! They actually have a little bit of everything. The place is big and has pretty much anything you would need while staying in a hotel. Cheese curds!

If you pull off the highway you'll find a small cluster of businesses including a bar and grill, a gas station, a Taco John's, and a Perkins. The oasis is a little run down, a little dingy, and hard to pull back out from to get back on the highway. We stopped to use the restroom and get a snack and while I was able to use the ladies' room, the men's room was inaccessible the entire time we were there. Someone had pushed a cleaning cart into the doorway to block it off, but the lights were off and no one came or went. We eventually bailed and went over the Perkins across the parking lot to take care of business. The Black River Crossing Oasis is about halfway between Madison and Minneapolis so it's a great location and sensible place to stop, but I may start seeking out an alternative after being consistently underwhelmed by the facilities.

I always spend way too much time in here trying to make up my mind what to buy. Buffett is a bit scary looking and reminds me of the scene in Vegas Vacation when Cousin Eddie says, "I'll take some of the yella"-- Shivers... Store has homemade candy and every other midwestern thing you can find with bears, ducks and deer on it.

There's a line waiting to use well this VUCUUM" Me looks back n sees no line thinking he's joking. Worker "you aren't a customer. Go to a gas station and dump your garbage there you can buy something there" Me "oh the other vacuum doesn't work?" Worker "no.. they are waiting for you to get done" Me "well you should of said that or they should of pulled up behind so I knew n would hurry up. I'm done though" Worker "good.
