That's the price if you don't have the loyalty card and, thus, don't get the discount. The sticker then went on to show the "price with card," i.e., the discounted price, i.e. the 20% off price. And that unit price showed as $20.69/lb. That's a discount, yes, but it's not a 20% discount. To simplify, let's say the un-discounted unit price was $25/lb (a penny more than the actual un-discounted price). What's 20% of $25? Five dollars. So the discounted price with loyalty card should have been $20/lb. Another sign at the kiosk advertised 20% off Murray's Aged Manchego. Same problem: Fred's system didn't calculate the 20% correctly. The un-discounted unit price was $26.99/lb., but the same sticker showed the price with card to be $23.59/lb. Twenty percent off $26.99 is $21.59, not $23.59. So, I was being charged $2 more per pound than the advertised price on the sign right there at the kiosk. The nice young woman at the cheese kiosk seemed to understand what I explained to her in person, but she said she couldn't change the pricing; all the cheese sales staff does is weigh the portions and their system spits out a label. So I spoke in person to the man at the customer service counter, who also told me he couldn't change the pricing system and he didn't think anyone else in the store could, either. He noted that the PLU number on the sign didn't match the PLU on the sticker affixed to the hunk of cheese. I phoned and spoke with a grocery manager who did not listen, tried to say I misunderstood, then hung up on me. Then I phoned the 800 number and, once I got past the automated answering system and spoke to a person, she listened, seemed to understand, and said she'd pursue it. Bottom line for you, other Freddie's patrons, is: Check the math on the advertised discount. Make sure that the discount shown on the label agrees with the advertised discount.

Other items are less expensive here too like bacon, specialty rices and you can catch sales on meats and dry goods. Bacon get your bacon on here! Produce is hit or miss. Mom's got a huge sweet tooth so she stocks up on candy bars, cookies and snacks. You have to watch though prices on some items there are higher but they have a good variety of International Foods: German/European and Chinese/Asian. They also have like 5 varieties of Bubba Burgers ... those burgers are native to Jacksonville, FL where we moved from and they remind us of being at The Jaguars Football games where they're a staple. There's no replacing Costco or the grocery stores but they are nice if you have the access on base. Mom being 76 has Dr. Appts and I play the good Son-in-law chauffeur when she needs.

While not very pleasant, here are highlights of last Saturday: It's all I can do to take the high road and not start making calls to corporate. In a nutshell, the Saturday night pharmacist told me I could walk around with a sign around my neck telling everyone I'm autistic. Deny it if she can (which she can't). When I openly complained about my sucky insurance covering continuous glucose monitors, she snaps back that if I didn't like it, I could "always prick my fingers" (For the record, that would be 4+ times a day). Btw, I was NEVER addressing her with my comments. I was dealing with the pharmacy tech, you know, the woman who was a total professional and treating me (the customer) with respect?The one that was sympathetic to my situation and researched different options for me. The wise ass pharmacist can't seem to mind her own business and keep to herself. Which I wouldn't mind her intrusion, if she were aiding the situation. Maybe quit jamming purple dye in your hair long enough to gain some professional skills and human compassion? I guess another example of maturity not up to the par of the age. I later discovered from some of the nurses at the hospital, this isn't unique and they are well aware of "Miss Attitude". There are some snacks and beverages available. Tobacco sales available inside the attendants kiosk. Ice available. Some road items like oil and windshield washer fluid available. There is an air station directly behind the attendants kiosk by the five parking spaces. The Meh points: It's a little congested getting in and out. It's also confusing when you first pull in whether the pumps (11-20) are regular or diesel (they're regular by the way). The snacks and beverages are limited. For instance, I didn't see any coffee beverages. No bathrooms.
