Not everyone gets to go on a military base. I have been to a few and noticed right away how clean this one is. The housing looks new and the Commissary and Exchange are laid out nicely. I had a pleasant shopping experience.

There's no replacing Costco or the grocery stores but they are nice if you have the access on base.

Wow y'all, wow. I…read moreknow tensions are high and we're getting cabin fever, but can we please show some empathy for the people that are out on the front lines? Fred Meyer's employees put themselves at risk of infection every day. They are overworked and understaffed and underpaid. They, along with medical professionals and first responders, are keeping us alive right now. The only difference is that they are paid and respected much less by our society. To clear a few things up: Instacart: is not owned by Fred Meyer. If you have a problem with them, you shouldn't put that on Fred Meyer. Also: Instacart workers are also on the front lines, and need your compassion. It's a GOOD THING: that grocery stores are being strict about returns. THIS DISCOURAGES HOARDING, in addition to being SAFE. In times like this, we should only buy what we NEED. OK, so with that soapbox out of the way: Freddies is doing a great job, all things considered. Social distancing markers are in place on the floors. Employees are constantly sanitizing and/or changing out gloves. Food is getting re-stocked only days after the hoarders take it all. Despite all the added strain, employees remain cheerful and eager to help. Oh, and they are keeping alcohol sales going...essential indeed. Let's be nice, and keep it classy, Anchorage. We'll get through this.

We pulled up and I got excited before I even walked in. Keep your empty cleaned out bottles and jars because ladies and gentlemen we can now buy bulk item with out all the plastic from the big stores. They also have empty jars for $.50 if you need them. They have everything from raw nuts, fruit, vegetables, shampoo and toothpaste tablets. We walked around and looked and then decided on a few items We got small jars of a shea butter lotion, amazing! Also picked up some lip balms I believe we got three different ones. Also Amazing! I picked up some wheat berries so I can mill some flour for bread. Speaking of bread, they also sell bread made locally. They sell cookies and coffee made with beans and syrups they sell. We left with a bunch of goodies to try and takes about our next trip and what we will get. I'm changing our eating habits this year. We are making everything at home. No fast food all home cooked. Well except today when we had to eat, but we choose well with our food. lol we are eating clean now so if your looking to change your eating habits, or want to get away from all the plastic and buy local, stop in and have a look. You never know you may just see something and keep coming back for more.

(Will try to make a 2nd review) because I encountered a super rude guy in pick up while working for DoorDash. It was my 1st time picking up at Walmart for Grocery Pickup via DoorDash so I didn't go to the correct area and I was chastised for going to the wrong place/area & then because I was waiting for so long for an employee to assist me. By the time, he came to help I'd been waiting over 10 min. (Long story short he read the app wrong and accused me of being too late (I was not, I wasn't the 1st person assigned this order) and he had a total attitude and I was mortified by him yelling at me and basically calling me stupid for my mistake and I was damn near in tears (maybe he read me wrong) so then he proceeded to cancel the entire order on me and gaslight me, like I had the attitude. I'd gotten up early and accepted this reservation order and drove across town and was on time only to be devastated due to the my 1st cancellation ever . (1st time and only ever that I had an order cancelled especially under these untrue pretenses. I was actually told by customer service to go to that door and then after being yelled at by said employee, I then went back to customer service to inform to them of how I'd been treated only to have this guy come back up to me and yell at me some more. Meanwhile, he never listened to ANYTHING I said or tried to explain to him. He was obviously having a bad day and pushed that onto me. Unfortunately.

Review of New Sagaya City Market - Anchorage, Alaska…read more Five weeks ago, I moved from San Francisco to Anchorage, settling near the downtown area. One of my first missions was to find a coffee spot that felt like home--a place with not just great coffee, but genuine people behind the counter. After trying a handful of cafes, a neighbor suggested New Sagaya City Market, just two blocks from my house. What a win. The market itself offers high-end, quality products. Yes, prices are a bit higher than what you'd find at Walmart or Target, but coming from San Francisco, I was prepared for that. What truly sets this place apart, though, isn't just the products--it's the people. From the very beginning, the baristas here have shown me the most consistent and heartfelt customer service I've experienced since moving to Anchorage. They don't just serve coffee; they connect with you, listen to your stories, and make you feel like part of the community. Today was a perfect example. I slipped in the parking lot (rookie mistake--no spikes on my shoes for the icy ground). After two kind gentlemen helped me up, I walked inside with my spilled coffee. Annie, a new barista I hadn't met before, immediately offered me a fresh cup with such kindness and care. That small gesture meant so much--it wasn't just about the coffee, it was about feeling seen and supported. I also want to shout out Monica and Shea, who I met when I first arrived five weeks ago. They've been consistently amazing--funny, charming, and genuinely interested in conversations about life, community, and even my adventures back in San Francisco. Every time I come in, I leave feeling lighter, happier, and more connected. Thank you, Annie, Monica, and Shea, for making New Sagaya City Market my go-to coffee spot. You've given me more than great coffee--you've given me a sense of belonging in a new city. --- Would you like me to make this version short and punchy for Google/Yelp reviews, or keep it longer and more storytelling-focused for something like a blog or social post?
