I have to say we used to have so many adventures and so much fun, I have so many memories of this place. You can stay either by camping, caravanning or staying in a chalet, I have experienced all 3 my favourite was staying in a caravan but the chalet was just as good. Camping is also very good as they have showers, launderettes and a local shop ect so you have everything you need. They have various playgrounds and an arcade and a pub where they also host bingo, the beach is very nice which isn't too far from Newquay. St. ives has a security entrance and you are given a square sticker to place on your car window so you do not have to get stopped every time you want to get back in to the holiday park. I would definately recommend this as a holiday in the UK.

On arrival, we were upgraded to a larger room with high ceilings, which had a generous super-king (US King) bed and an enormous bathroom, in the old part house. The bed was comfortable, with quality bed linen, and our bathroom had both a shower and a deep freestanding bath. The towels were lovely and fluffy, and were changed daily. A bonus was the addition of air-conditioning, although it's location meant you've got a bit of a breeze if you left it on overnight. The decor was a little tired in places, but it did not affect our stay. The house itself dates largely from the 17th century, and the wood-panelled interiors are what you would expect of an English country house. The Great Hall and the Drawing Room are particularly impressive, but it was also lovely to sit and have a drink in the central courtyard. Breakfast was not included in our package, and it was an extra £20 per head. However, the buffet (both continental and cooked), meant you had a good choice, and additional items were available to order at no extra charge (such as poached or fried eggs, vegetarian sausages, kippers, etc). We ate our evening meals in the Brasserie; quality was good, some items better than others, although desserts were lovely. Service was always good - efficient and friendly. This averaged £40-£45 a head with drinks (though we don't drink a lot). Staff were obliging and very pleasant throughout: the only issue for us is that our room was close to the service rooms, so in the day we sometimes found the trolleys in the corridor. But overall, we enjoyed it and we would happily return.

There is a lot less choice now to what there used to be and it is of absolutely no use to people who prefer traditional English food (other than the steak that they offer). A pint seems automatic... which was quite fine with me! Front desk was uber-helpful. I brought the wrong power plug. My travel partner didn't bring any at all. We got loaners without a problem. I got a candy bar every time I walked by.
