This was my first time scheduling a professional photo shoot so I didn't know what to expect. Dawn is so friendly and from my original interaction with her via Instagram DM she would reach out and ask what colors were we planning to wear and would suggest what kind of colors and items such as clothing pieces, makeup, to put together for the best outcome for our photos. My fiancé and I chose to take our photos in San Pedro. The day we met Dawn and her partner in crime Jonathan - they were so cool and down to earth. When we met that day we immediately went to work taking pictures. She directed us with our poses. It was really so much fun that time literally flew! It was a two hour photo session that went a little over time but was so much fun. We booked an hour with 4 people and different breakdowns. The goal was to get a lot of my mom and daughter, plus some of the whole family. I told her I wanted to shoot at the beach and did not give her any examples. I also planned it on an extremely busy day at the beach. She came to a beach she never shot at and found a great spot for photos. Her turnaround time was quick and we were so happy with the results. I loved that Tam provided us with the top photos from the shoot with great editing. We got a good mix of posed and frame-able candids. In past from other photographers I've received many more photos that were okay, but it was overwhelming to find the best ones. She did that work for us. We have had her do a baby shoot and a six month shoot, both complicated by adding the older sibling. We had another photographer tell us that he couldn't put the older brother in the newborn shot because it was too hard, but Renee did it and got the most incredible shots. She's patient and has a great eye - I asked for input on which bow to put on my little girl, and the one she chose looked way better (we ended up doing some shots with each.) If you're doing a newborn shoot, I recommend bringing some props and some changes of clothes so you can get the best possible outcome. Whenever anyone I know is pregnant, I recommend Renee. One of my big regrets is not doing professional shots with the first child (we though taking a million pics ourselves was enough, but it's just not the same.) I wish I'd known about Sprouts then.
