I am thrilled about finding this Holistic Dental Center! I wish I incorporated holistic dental care much sooner. When my last conventional dentist removed one of my cracked mercury fillings, I was concerned b/c there was a lot of drilling and he only used the typical small suction hose. I knew I needed to find a new dentist that used more appropriate safety measures to properly remove my other damaged mercury fillings. Dr G and his staff are wonderful. I loved my first cleaning by Nicole. I would highly recommend her. She's very smart, sweet, patient, & gentle. I was impressed that they take a gum swab and together we microscopically reviewed the (good & bad) bacteria in my mouth. I love that they provide protective supplements prior to X-rays. I usually have a lot of anxiety going to the dentist but I'm already looking forward to my next visit! read more

My main problem with Dr. Gashinsky is with his generous use of the word "holistic". Apparently, Dr. Gashinsky has mistakenly substituted his well-learned techniques for both the philosophy and the attitude with which the word "holistic" has been historically amalgamated. There is very little holistic about the man and his overwhelming greed for money. This became clear to me with my second visit to his office when my debit card had been, unbeknownst to me, fraudulently hacked and was repeatedly machine rejected. I called my bank and they said they would void the card but that I could come in the next morning and receive another. When I related this to his manager Dr G. came up to the front desk and embarrassed me (even further than I already was!) by loudly proclaiming to his staff that I didn't have enough money in the account and to not give me another appointment until I had paid off my charge. That was the first time. After that fiasco was repaired the next day, I came in again a week (or so) later for more work and by this time I had made friends with one of his employees assigned to me, AKA "Dr. V." Afterwards, I asked him to attend one of our monthly dinners that my fiancé and I hold for professional members of the community. Since I did not personally know Vladimir Gashinsky himself (as he was too busy to work on me), I gave the invitation to Dr V. and was immediately confronted with a very angry Dr. Gashinsky who in no uncertain terms, in front of his staff and with a vicious attitude loudly proclaimed that "anything like this should go through ME first as Dr. V. is not your employee, but mine". That was the second time. Thoroughly embarrassed in front of his many staff members I politely told him that this invitation had nothing to do with work but was a personal request to Dr. V. and his family to join us for dinner. By the scowl, his clenched fist and the red flush in his face It was clear that he was fuming and about to lose his temper. The last time I came to his office and before I even had a chance to even sit down in his waiting room I was given a promissory paper to sign with all the future charges - which I signed. I then gave the front office employee my debit card again but because it was nearly $3000 dollars - it was rejected - and even after several tries it kept coming up on his CC machine as "insufficient funds" - (which was) totally inaccurate. It so happens that a debit card has daily restrictions to avoid fraud - a policy of which I was unaware, because, apparently, I never used it to that limit. Dr. Gashinsky was called in again and I told him that I would send him a check in the morning. Again, in front of his staff, he accused me of having insufficient funds and added that "my own credit card works all the time even if I have to pay up to $35,000". I told him that number was too rich for my blood because, being semi-retired, I only saw patients 2 days a week. He then said. somewhat gleefully, that "maybe I should add a third day" so that I could pay my dental bills. That was the straw that broke the camel's back. It became very clear to me that the man had studied his holistic technical approaches but had no idea how to treat his patients. Again, It became painfully obvious that he had bitten off more than he could chew when he told his staff to run the "credit" card again to see how much he could get before it was rejected - "try $2000, or $1,500" still believing that I was trying to get out from paying him his due. Again, we were thoroughly embarrassed - but this time, for him. I took the hand of my fiancé and walked out taking my business cards I had left on his large plastic holder with me. I doubted very much if he even knew that I had persuaded two of my own famous clients to give him a try. He shouted after me to come back but I never even turned and headed straight for my transport. His literature is rife with glittering generalities so common in holistic circles but his attitude is still one of egotistical belligerence and greed. He is obviously a good dentist and I was filmed by his manager saying exactly that - but for some reason he never deigned to show my clip with the others in his waiting room monitor. Now I know why. After a visit for bleeding gums, they told me I had advanced gums disease and I was on my way to lose my teeth. I was surprised because during the analysis of bacteria in my mouth I could tell that there was not that many bacteria at all. I had had this test previously done a few years ago and could compare the two. They encouraged me to get a gum cleaning surgery called Lanap which costs about $11,000 and takes five hours. In my gut something did not add up. The whole thing felt like a sales pitch. I ended up sending my pictures and x-rays to my uncle who is a very reputable oral surgeon. And here is his message: You don't have any pb. Just a little gingival inflammation at the low anterior level. Brush with a softer brush. Your X-ray bone exam is perfect. They just want to take money from you. !! These people are thieves. read more

. I originally came to you because my dentist recommended a root canal. I thought coming to you would give me another opinion. You had someone come talk to me and convinced me to pull the tooth and get an implant. You made it seem like it would,be effortless. After many, many visits and removing the implant and replacing it again, I was in pain for over a year. In fact years later I still am. I ended up having to get root canals on both sides of the implant. Also had to have a apicoetomy on one tooth. It's ended up costing me thousands and so much pain. And now two root canals when I came here to avoid that. My advice to you is run, don't walk away from this place. read more

Literally the best cleanings I have ever had! I spent a lot of time looking for a holistic dentist and I'm so happy I found this place. A lot of other providers claimed to be "holistic" , but really were not. This place is the real deal!! I'm reading a lot of negative things here (on Yelp) about the practice but I have had nothing but AMAZING experiences. I've been coming here for a few years and never had any issues.Every exam was super thorough. Anytime treatment was suggested I was provided with a lot of information to help me learn more. All treatment that I've received so far (cleanings, removal of metal dental implants were replaced with healthier ceramic ones, fillings) went smoothly. I'm so satisfied with all my work that I'm currently doing Invisalign with them Is this place expensive? Somewhat - but it's worth it. I genuinely feel safe that non-toxic materials are used and don't negatively impact my health. I pay upfront for my treatments and my insurance sends me a refund check. I even used their 3rd party financing to assist me in paying for implants and now Invisalign. I'm not the kind of person who likes to compromise my health with something cheap or not very good for me. To me - excellent quality and care is guaranteed. To everyone at the Holistic Dental Center, thank you SO MUCH for taking care of me. I appreciate you!! I had receding gums and spent close to $10,000 for Lazer surgery which helped some of my front teeth (not all) but not back. When I asked for more lazer since the first lazer surgery was not sufficient I was told I had to pull out my wisdom teeth. Part of the reason I went to a holistic dentist was because I thought they understood that our teeth are there for a reason. There was nothing wrong with my wisdom teeth; True it would be easier to clean without them but so would pulling all my teeth but that does not make it a good choice. read more

Internal issues affected the standard of my care last evening. There is a revolving door of dentists and staff in the recent 2 years since I have been a patient. The continuity of care was quite chaotic and lacking proper detailed explanation of my onlay insertion. I was never fully explained that the removal of my temporary filling would even be offered to be done without proper numbing. I'm grateful I stood in my truth and requested to be properly numbed as I have learned by body requires. It was never explained to me in detail how the removal and onlay insertion was to be done from the dentist in the practice that put the temporary filling in and now the owner last night who did the onlay insertion. I have had filing replaced and never did I ever suspect that removal of a temporary filling literally means the dentist ripping it out of your manually. I felt absolutely tortured last night even being fully numbed at my request. The owner does have beautiful needle delivery I will say. I never felt it. In addition, to lack of explanation between two dentists it appeared that they weren't even properly set up and ready for my visit. I waited 30 minutes and the young lady who assisted the Owner seemed to be deer in headlights about what was needed so nothing was setup for the Owner properly he kept having to stop and ask for tools. That didn't make me feel comfortable and confident for this procedure. There appears to definitely be an internal management issue with his staff that definitely affected my care last evening. The front desk staff didn't know what my procedure was to properly schedule it with enough time earlier in the day verse the last appointment of the day. Proper medical consent was required for this procedure so why was the consent form put in front of me as I was shaking from just having the temporary filling removed. Why was that consent form not presented to me prior to starting the procedure? I have had nothing but a lovely experience coming to this practice for the past 2 years and I have the discernment to see that there are cracks in the management and function of this practice. I believe everyone should have the opportunity to experience a more holistic approach to their dental care. I just encourage the practice to look within to see where they can meet there patients better. read more

Don't use them! I needed a root canal and came to them because I wanted to try something holistic. They told me the two teeth next to that tooth needed to be pulled, work done on my jaw bone and another tooth needed to be repaired. They said they would replace the pulled teeth with implants. Total cost $7000.00. I told both the dr. and office manager I couldn't afford it. They talked me into a payment plan. Once the bone in my jaw heeled I went there to have them x-ray it to confirm they could start the implants. At the end of that visit they told me implants would be an additional 8000.00!!! That's an egregious amount of money. I would NEVER have agreed to any of it had I known the total cost would be 15,000.00!! Worst is that they were not honest up front. Now I'm in debt for 7000.00 and am missing three back teeth. This practice is completely unethical! read more

I have had a lifetime of restoratations...dont ask...the important things for your to know is: The hygiene experience is above the ordinary....did you know the importance of analyizing dental bacteria - this is s given immediately to the patient, and most importantly , hygiene practices that put your oral health at is optimum are shared with the patient so YOU are in charge of your oral health. Dr. Gashinsky is absolutely at the crest of the wave of knowledge, which he readily shares not only with his patients, but with his very fine staff of Drs. Hence, any of the dental needs you have are addressed per individual, assessed, and remedies are excecuted to the utmost of excellent results. I know their initial introducation may seem extr-ordinary, but believe me, this practice is comprehensive because their goal is to provide the BEST dental/oral hygien and restoration available. On the phone they will say they take your insurance. At their office is a different story - that I needed to submit it on my own and maybe be reimbursed. Anything to get you in the door I'm assuming - what a disappointment. I literally drove an hour, got childcare for my 1yo and cancelled my regular dentist appointment. Rather go to an honest regular dentist than a "holistic" office that's not honest. They were friendly, but it just felt weird for them to say one thing on the phone and another when I got to the office. I should have figured out something was up with this place when they had me in a separate room to speak to a patient coordinator as soon as I arrived - seems they know this model all too well. read more

I will NEVER recommend this office or Dr. Gashinsky again. I had my 1st appointment in February 2019. Dr Gashinsky did my exam. We went over the immediate dental issues and a future plan. The future plan was only about replacing my silver fillings. Because of the cost of my immediate dental needs I held off the replacement of the silver fillings. My treatment coordinator kept asking me and even calling me to find out when I will be getting the silver fillings replaced. I went in for my 6 month cleaning and I was now financially ready to have my silver fillings replaced. I told the front desk, hygienist and my treatment coordinator I was ready to get the silver fillings replaced. The hygienist and Dr. V (the dr. that did my exam) told me I had 3 or 4 cavities, one of which was kind of large. I immediately questioned if the cavities were there 6 months ago when I had my initial visit. They both said "YES" and it was in the X-rays, but the larger one was smaller. That really pissed me off. My treatment coordinator finally came into the room and said the cavities were marked in my records but she couldn't figure out why I was never told. I went to the dentist for my health not just for cosmetic reasons. This office was more concerned about the cosmetics and the big ticket items then my health. read more

PLEASE SAVE YOUR MONEY AND DON'T GO! I went to the Holistic Dental center to get a dental implant. When I went into the office for a consultation, I got sold hard! They claim to be holistic and act like they care about the person's health, but they are truly after your money. They told me I had to do several examinations and tests prior to getting my implant. I had to take a vitamin D3 test that cost $60. It was literally a finger prick and not an actual blood test. A blood test would have given me a more accurate test result. They then did a mouth cleaning and took a sample of my mouth bacteria. They told me I had some pathogen that needed to be removed by taking oral supplements. Looking back, it's a given that we all have good and bad bacteria in our mouth. It's impossible to remove all the bad bacteria. I was open to the supplement treatment to remove the pathogens, until I found out that it was going to cost $700! To add to this, they told me they would give me a $25 discount if I referred a friend. Like seriously?!? $25 is not a savings compared to the $6,500 they will be getting for my implant. Just another red flag. Once I told them no, most of my friends live in New York. They told me they have people all over the world flying in to come to their practice. I rolled my eyes, yea right! They told me I had to do the bacteria removal procedure first, before I could do my implant surgery. Not to mention, my implant surgery was going to cost me $6,500 total per tooth. But I was still optimistic and open to the treatments and cost. Because of COVID, my implant surgery got delayed and I am so thankful it did. I went up to Vermont to quarantine for 4 months. It was a 7 hour drive up north. During quarantine I started to have severe tooth pain and needed to have one of my infected root canals removed. I called the holistic dental center and asked that they please referee me to a dental surgeon in Vermont to remove my infected tooth. I was a 7 hour drive up north. They told me that they could not look up a surgeon in Vermont and that I had to come back to NJ to do the operation. I was in so much pain that I was willing to do a 7 hour drive back down to NJ, so that they can remove my infection. They told me in order to book an appointment with their surgeon, I need to pay $12,000 up front via phone! If that was not a red flag, I don't know what is! They told me if I paid in full that I was going to get a $700 discount if I pay that same day. That's a major RED FLAG! I was in so much pain, that I paid they $12,000 in full to book the appointment. They said they could extract my teeth and do the dental implant the same day! If you know anything about tooth extractions and implants, you should know that you need to allow at least 3-6 months for the extraction site to seal and heal. You can't do an implant the same day of the extraction. But I was in so much pain, that I gave them my credit card information and booked the appointment. My appointment was a week away, but every day my tooth pain got worse and worse. I could not sleep at night and the infection was growing. I knew I needed to see a surgeon ASAP. I took matters into my own hands and called the nearest dentist in Vermont. They took me in ASAP. This is because if it's not treated in a timely manner, the infection can go to your brain and you could die. The dentist took x-rays and immediately referred me to a surgeon in Vermont that same afternoon. I went into the hospital for an emergency tooth extraction. Would you like to know how much that cost? $400 bucks total!! Holistic dental center tried to rip me off big time! I felt like not only was my health on the line for having me wait a week to have my extractions, but they wanted me to drive down for 7 hours to NJ when they could refer me to a dentist and surgeon up in Vermont. They were so thirsty for money that they asked me to transfer via credit card $12,000 to book the appointment. I was in so much pain, that I was willing to drive down during COVID to do this extraction. read more

I went to a conventional dentist for a cavity and he said that I needed a whole root canal. Then I tried Holistic Dental. Dr. G managed to not only avoid a root canal altogether, but also repair the tooth minimally invasively. I also like that they do not use fluoride (a known neurotoxin). read more

Stay away!! First of all, the high pressure sales pitches are brutal. They had no problem continuing to pitch their financing plan even when they knew I was 67, unemployed and living on social security with no pension and obviously couldn't afford to pay $40,000 for implants to replace 5 teeth in my partial plate. They even had three people blocking the door when I wanted to leave without scheduling more appointments. They forced me to leave through an emergency exit that lead straight into a snowbank. Downright scary. On top of that, the quality of work is poor. My face was paralyzed for two months because the novocaine hit a nerve. They were unfazed when I gave them feedback about it. Not so much as an explanation of what to expect when something like that happens. They extracted a tooth that was broken and abscessed and added a tooth to my partial plate. The new tooth in my plate was an exact replica of the one that was extracted - unfortunately it was also only half a tooth just like the original, so now food gets jammed in there. They did not respond to my request for them to fix it. Prices are CRAZY high and you have to pay before you even get out of your car. read more

He said he was testing my teeth for sensitivity. He dug in my gum with sharp metal pick making a hole in my gum that got bigger and broke through to gum line. My gum infection did not bleed but got worse after I left office and started bleeding in all of my gum. Nicole was out of my room 3 minutes during each of around 15 x-rays. I had number 9 out of 10 lower jaw pain for 2 or more months I believe to x-ray radiation poisoning. She probably had x-ray radiation turned up to top dose of radiation. This was a consultation visit and Dr Vladimir Gasinsky said it would cost $80,000 to repair my teeth. These are evil people, don't go, run from this office! read more

It's like an organic spa for your teeth. Don't put a price on your health. Holistic Dental Center uses the highest quality nontoxic material. Growing up in Portland Oregon I am very experienced in holistic health. A holistic, organic way of life is the way it is over there. I am somewhat of an expert on everything holistic. Lived 6 years in Alaska and it's the same there. Last year on the very morning of moving from Alaska to New Jersey a crown broke. Two days after I arrived in NJ I met with a conventional dentist who made the replacement crown using his 3D printer, but the crown came out too small. I went back to him, he made me another crown but it had no contact between the teeth, and it was very uncomfortable. The biggest issue with that crown was the open margins in the crown allowing the possibility for bacteria to grow inside. I needed a new crown fast. So I left that office to find a more competent dentist. The 2nd dentist made me a crown. Unfortunately his crown broke after a month, he made another crown and this lasted only 1 months and then it also broke. The material he used caused my gums near the crown to be irritated. By the time I found holistic Dental Center I was pretty grumpy, and worried I'd have to fly home to find a decent dentist. But even though I was wary and lost hope Dr. Vithlani is a master of his trade. He tested me for allergies using the Clifford Test and thank goodness he did because I have a lot, and am allergic to most dental material. He saved my mouth and sanity by making me the most comfortable and perfect fitting crown with the exact right contact between the teeth. I love eating again. My gums are finally happy after many months. The floss fits perfectly. The crown is absolutely beautiful. My whole family goes here now and my husband (who doesn't like dentists) said it was his best cleaning ever. Dr. Sawhney and Dr. G both have worked on me, my husband and my children too and they also are amazing! I feel sorry for all the people who haven't found them yet and are suffering with toxic material that conventional dentists use. If you educate yourself you'll learn conventional dentists can use a lot of unhealthy material, I was exposed 4 times in my short time in NJ. Please educate yourself. read more

This is my 2nd review of this practice after my first review was deleted since the company contacted Yelp and had it removed! Seriously let people have an opinion of your horrible office! My experience was when I called to schedule an appointment the girl on the phone was unaware of my insurance and couldn't answer my questions on procedures I wanted to know about. Then when I went in I found that everyone in the office was very cold and they just try to sell you on a big treatment plan that is not needed. They wanted to remove all of my silver fillings and replace them with white filling and crowns which would have been thousands of dollars!! They try to convince you that they are "Holistic " which is a gimmick because dental procedures are perfectly safe done the proper way. Ella the office manager was extremely rude. This place is complete scam machine, they try to sell you overpriced mouth guard that you can get elsewhere for way cheaper. Dr. G was pulling and poking way too hard on my dental work when performing the exam. They try to wow you with a mouth bacteria presentation. All so they can hammer you with ridiculous pricing. They passive aggressively imply that you sign some sort of contract and that it is madatory without verbally saying so, but when you question them they back off. I'm still getting flyers from them in the mail and I called FOUR times for them to stop and they say; oh yea sure, no problem, we'll take care of it. This place is garbage, stay FAR away!! read more

The place was crowded, noisy and chaotic (the staff is more than 20 people). They wanted all the money upfront (a lot!). That should have been a red flag. The day of the treatment some other doctor showed up. Apparently Dr. G. only does implants and everything else is done by assistants. Oops, they forgot to tell me. Bait and switch. They did a poor job and the teeth bothered me for months. 6 months later I went back for cleaning and to discuss the discomfort from the crowns they had installed. This time Dr. G examined me. He said the crowns were too high and filed them down. He also said I needed a root canal. I went to 2 other doctors for a second opinion. They both said it wasn't true. All the pain I had been suffering was caused by those crowns Dr. G's assistant had worked on: the bite was no good and they were still too high! All the surrounded area was inflamed and I didn't need a root canal, just proper filing of Dr. g's crowns. Conclusion: RUN. Dr. G's practice is unprofessional, unethical and incompetent. read more

I called the Holistic Dental Center to ask if they accepted my insurance. I got passed around on the phone and they would not answer my question directly. Finally, they said, yes they do accept my insurance and I would only have a copay. From my conversation and experience with speaking with other doctor offices, I did not trust this information entirely. I called my insurance company to inquire with them and they said that in face, NO, they would be out of network for me and I would have out of pocket costs. Be upfront with information. Do not waste people's time just to get them in the office. Time is valuable. read more

We have been going to this office for a few years now and have had nothing but issues with the front office staff. The only reason we stayed is because Dr. Sawhney is wonderful and my children loved her. I think their billing practices are borderline unethical. They make you pay the full amount of their overpriced procedures up front and once the insurance pays their portion, they give you a "credit" to your account that you can use for future work. The last straw for us was when we went there today for an appointment for my 6 year old. He has a bad cavity in a baby tooth that caused most of the tooth to break off. The office said we had a balance on our account that the insurance never paid. The insurance company had mistakenly mailed the reimbursement checks to us directly. My husband had them in his wallet because he didn't know what to do with them. They wanted him to drive to the office to drop them off and when he said he couldn't, but would mail the checks, they refused to see my son. So they let a 6 year old walk out of their office with a broken tooth instead of waiting a day or two for checks they knew we had in hand. Their focus is on money, NOT on patients! read more

The Holistic Dental Center understands taking care of the patient and not just fixing the teeth. If a person's dental health is not in order, other parts of his or her health can suffer. I have had quite a lot of work done in this office. Dr. G and the other doctors are helpful and try to explain each procedure. The office is very accommodating if special circumstances arise.
