While my appointment went well, the standard insurance paper work for a cortisone shot (the most common intervention other than pain meds) was rejected, and no one from the office followed up. There were no follow up notes after my appointment for next steps. My primary seemed very surprised that this routine procedure was denied which makes me suspect that they didn't do the minimal paperwork required. When you call 'the office', you reach someone at the main switchboard who presumably passes on a message which may or may not be returned. In my case, it was not even though I requested that they resubmit the paperwork. Keep in mind that many many people reaching out to a pain management doctor are in excruciating, debilitating pain. When I finally went in, I was barely able to walk and had to lie down during the appointment due to the extreme pain. Currently, I'm repeatedly leaving messages at the switchboard attempting to try to get my cortisone shot months after all medical staff I met with agreed that it was necessary. If you are in an acute, debilitating situation with your pain, I'd recommend you seek someone who runs a more responsive office.

I have been hospitalized several times for Tylenol overdose and GI bleeding due to this added stress, but still doesn't care. Choose a different doctor. I should have known to walk away after the first visit. Dr. Tarasenko is avoidant and appears uncomfortable with a transparent conversation about the procedures he will perform on patients. He is very vague when answering questions, and during my visit, he actually rolled his eyes when I informed him of the side effects I experienced from the injections during my first visit--side effects he would have known about if his office had followed protocol and had me wait 30 minutes before allowing me to leave and drive--I am traumatized. The girls at the front desk are highly unprofessional. There is still holiday (Christmas) decor in the office (it is April), and the office has an overall uncomfortable feeling. I asked my primary care physician to please refer me to a different doctor because anytime a doctor appears uncomfortable and avoidant with answering basic questions about a medical procedure that will affect your body, that is a serious red flag. I told her that was 25 years ago and I don't know why I had a heart attack, I told her that I have already filled out a 13 page questionnaire and most of the questions are not relevant and very intrusive, like your race and sexual activities, and drug and alcohol use, at this point she got up and left the room. About 10 minutes later the Doctor came and asked me why I was there today, I told him I was there because of my chronic hip pain and lower back pain and he said he can help me with my back pain but he is not going to, because I wasn't nice to the woman.

When I met with him I mentioned in passing that my due to an injury four years ago, my bicep tendon was no longer on my shoulder. Boris said, "Oh. Shall we put it back up in its proper location?" I was a bit shocked by his confidence and quite skeptical. I had been told by surgeons that the only way I could ever get the tendon back up was by surgery. I elected to work with it holistically, but no one was able to get my tendon back in its proper location. But after three attempts and in a matter of about 15 minutes, Boris had my bicep tendon seated in the groove of my bone on my shoulder. I am still AMAZED and ecstatic! He also diagnosed a weakness in my groin that I did not even tell him about and fixed it. Since then I have found out that my zumba instructor and many others swear by him.

I always feel heard and my questions answered. He is one of the kindest most compassionate doctors I have ever been to. I had 2 major surgeries for scoliosis and have had back pain to also cope with. She was amazing then and still is. Dr. Chagnon never seems in a hurry and is a good listener, rare with doctors. Lisa, office manager, is efficient and my appts are scheduled 3 months ahead. The office returns emails in a timely manner. I still experience pain but Dr. Chagnon's care has alleviated much of it so that I am able to have a quality life. For that, I am so grateful.
