I am a patient of the practice Sonoma Neurology Pain and Management is here in Petaluma and I see Dr. Jeremy Goodwin. I was desperate because of nerve pain I was suffering after my left upper lung was removed. I honestly can't say enough great things about him. He listens and ask questions. No rushing ever. I always feel heard and my questions answered. He is one of the kindest most compassionate doctors I have ever been to. He is very knowledgeable and discussed a few other problems that he didn't have to but took the time anyway. If you are looking for a neurologist who is professional is a wealth of information, compassionate and so very kind Dr. Goodwin is your doctor. I feel very fortunate to have him as my doctor. The office staff is Lisa. We are all so lucky to have her. She has a lot on her plate so to speak and always handles things professionally and is very kind. I have gone to Dr. Aimee Chagnon for over 15 years for pain management. I was in terrible nerve pain and needed relief. I had 2 major surgeries for scoliosis and have had back pain to also cope with. She was amazing then and still is. Dr. Chagnon never seems in a hurry and is a good listener, rare with doctors. Lisa, office manager, is efficient and my appts are scheduled 3 months ahead. It takes time and patience to get your first appointment because this is a very busy office. I have great respect for Lisa who manages everything re: scheduling, prescriptions, etc. Regarding the care: Dr. Jeremy Goodwin is not only very knowledgeable but extremely empathic, a quality rarely seen among neurologists. This is how she handled that. - Told me to take someone else's meds - Accused me of making threats for calling the on call service trying to get ahold of her PA (because she was on vacation at the time) as opposed to messaging her on FB - Got upset with me because she "wasn't feeling good" - Told me if I was "feeling that bad go to the e.r." which she knows that they wouldn't be able to do anything for me and they would flag me with the state for trying to get opiates from a secondary physician while on pain contract with her read more

Whoever Daniel N. is (he commented on my first comment from 2014) needs to LEAVE ME ALONE! This is his second comment to me, the first one was 18-24 months ago and told me to take my comment down! Now he states "We do not charge $150 for missing one appointment. If $150 was charged it was due to 3 missed appointments. After three missed appointments we ask Lisa to collect the fees before booking another appointment. Patients who have a real excuse for missing an appointment are not charged." I did NOT miss 3 appointments, I only missed 1 and she not only told me I owed the missed appointment fee she told me I could no longer be a patient!! I am not a liar, and if this truly was how your office was ran than why did it take 4 years for you to point this out and why did you ask me to previously take my comment down. Take a look at others - they have had a HORRIBLE experience with Lisa as well!!! Some internal changes should seriously be considered! read more

The place is running a scam I think. To begin with you don't get to see the illusive Dr. Chagnon forever, you are screened by the nurse practitioner 1st, and I am all for it. It's cool etc but I am paying a Co-pay to see a specialist not a person who is an assistant to the specialist. Ok so 1st visit done with nurse practitioner I go through all the tests and trials asked of me, a reasonable person would assume that ok 2nd meeting would be with the Doctor herself an then she'll discuss your results, right?!! WELL guess again, no you see the nurse practitioner again. She tells you what she thinks and by now I was like ok I will go along with this for a bit more I do what is asked, in the meantime not being diagnosed at all. And then on my 3rd visit I see the glorious Dr. Chagnon. Who I have no problem with at all. Thats her way of seeing patients so be it. But the exhaustive testing and trials and eventual physical therapy end in an endless battle of bills. (All the while no diagnosis). All good, I am covered by insurance. HELL NO!!! Their insurance lady is totally incompetent. I am covered for a visit but then she screws up in sending the referral code to my insurance, so claim is denied. Talk of headaches and more pain. I am still not diagnosed and now they have run up my bill to a crazy amount and won't deal with the insurance or rectify their mistake or even try and help resolve it. So not only am I not diagnosed, my prognoses was have vitamins, don't exercise cause that will hurt your joints and we are here if you want a referral for physical therapy (Which I can get from my GP, thank you). I would never go back. I would like to erase the debt I am currently battling to get rid off for absolute rubbish they have put me through. Dr. Chagnon may be a fabulous doctor but her support staff needs training. They need to rethink their whole medical persona they have. Its a scam! read more

I've had the immense pleasure of being a patient of Dr Aimee Chagnon's for a long time now. I had a few other Neurologists before her and believe me, I was in HELL before I came to Sonoma Pain Mgmt. Dr Chagnon not only helped properly diagnose me, but didn't offer to cut my thigh open and cut all of my nerves until she found which ones were killing me with pain (like another doctor wanted to do) or tell me "pain NEVER killed anyone". Also, my husband was very very ill, and Dr Chagnon was able to prolong his life and give him great "quality of life". There is not enough Thank you's or money in this world that I can thank Dr Chagnon for all that she has done for my husband (now passed) and continues to do for me and all the people I send to her. Greatest attribute of Dr Chagnon - patience. She doesn't care how much time it takes, she will run late for every appointment because YOU ARE HUMAN AND SO IS SHE. She doesn't keep a stop watch on each patient. Some patients require a little more attention than others this month, but next month, it could be YOU who needs the longer appointment. It all comes out in the wash. However, she wants to listen and HEAR EVERYTHING from her patients to make sure her patients are taken care of properly. Dr Chagnon has also brought in Hersey, her patient friendly Pit Bull who helps (I can only speak for myself) me feel at ease when I'm riddled with aches and pains. Hershey is just the sweetest pup and so loving, just another part of Dr Chagnon's medicine for her patients - comfort Medicine. Dr Chagnon's staff is the BEST, bar none. You have Lisa & Michelle the most wonderful, patient friendly, hardest working ladies I've ever had the pleasure to get to know. They work miracles with the Insurance company's and other networking doctors. So just know, you will be treated professionally, but like family at Sonoma Pain Management - where the doctor is a human and treats you like one as well. God Bless. I have been Dr. Chagnon's patient for around 3 years and she is one of the most attentive and thorough Doctors I have worked with. She has been patient with me as I have grappled with fluctuating migraine symptoms and been hesitant to try medication therapy. After experiencing a startling increase in my symptoms, I was able to reach her more immediately so she could offer guidance around medication adjustment. Lisa has been instrumental in making sure I have my next appointment scheduled, collecting all of the information needed for Dr. Chagnon, and being a friendly voice when I am calling in need. Took 4 days to get a call back to schedule an appointment. What an attitude from Lisa! Because I have an I jury the Doctor refuses to see anyone where she might be called to testify. if I could give this office negative stars, I would. I had to respond to the the extremely disgusting and unprofessional response left after my review. Now that I'm emotionally and physically able. Their response screams "copy and paste", with no personal insight. It also makes all their patients look like drug seekers, which is something I clearly am not. Since leaving this office, I've been seeing a team of medical professionals that have gotten my pain and depression under control and they actually LISTEN to my needs and concerns. Being terminated from this practice (for asking for an appointment with my MD not her assistant), the response left still haunts me and leaves an extremely negative feeling for this practice. That's my update. On a side note; I'm doing extremely well and have less pain than I've had in years with NO narcotic use. read more

If I could rate less than one star I would. My daughter was referred by her primary physician. We called four times to get an appointment with no response. We finally went to the office to make the appointment and encountered the rudest front desk receptionist. She kept interrupting to ask questions that, if she had just listened to what was being said, she would have the answers to. After finding out that my daughter needed an appointment and that a referral had been sent a month prior, she said "we are not accepting your case". When asked why, she very rudely said "we are not legally obligated to tell you anything." So we asked why no one called us to tell us that a month ago, and she simply repeated "we are not legally obligated to tell you anything." Seriously? After you got our first message you couldn't have the common decency to return the call and say that we needed to go elsewhere? In the end, I'm glad they won't be seeing my daughter. If this is how they treat her in the waiting room where other patients can see and hear, I can only imagine how rude and unkind they would be behind closed doors. read more

I was referred to Dr. Chagnon about five years ago and it was the best thing that's ever happened in my medical history! I have suffered from chronic illnesses for most of my life and chronic pain for the last 20 years or so. So I have seen A LOT of doctors over the years. Dr. Chagnon is in a class of her own! She is the most caring person you will ever meet. She actually cares about her patients and genuinely wants to see them get better. She is incredibly intelligent, very knowledgeable about her field and keeps up-to-date on all new therapies. She is willing to go above and beyond for her patients. That includes spending the time necessary to really cover what's going on at each appointment. This does tend to make her run a bit behind schedule at times. But personally I would wait as long as it takes to be able to get the time and attention that she provides me, and I'm actually glad that she is giving all her patients the same time and attention, as that is what patients deserve from healthcare professionals! I feel incredibly lucky and grateful that Dr. Chagnon is in my life and is helping me with my terrible pain issues. I would also add that the people she chooses to have work in the office are also wonderful. Lisa (and earlier Michelle also) has always treated me with respect and professionalism and is always very quick to return calls or emails. Dr. Chagnon was my doctor for years and I trusted her with my health care. One of my meds required an occasional surprise urine test. In early April I received a call from her assistant Lisa, telling me that my local lab did not have available appointments and that I would have to go to one of two nearby towns. I asked her if it would be O.K. for me to take a few minutes to google the locations and call her back. She said yes. I called her back within 6 minutes. She left me a voice mail 21.5 hours later, which I saw later. By that time I had decided that I needed to talk to Dr. Chagnon about a different regimen that didn't require me to be dependent on Lisa. My next appointment with her was on May 3 and I was anxiously awaiting that visit to see what alternatives I might have. On that very day, I received a letter saying that she could no longer provide my care. The letter made recommendations for alternate providers which made no sense, so I presume the letter came from Lisa and not the doctor. I thought she was a caring doctor but making patients dependent on Lisa is close to medical malpractice. read more

Sonoma Pain Management is the neurology, pain management, and palliative care office of Dr. Chagnon. Dr. Chagnon is a Harvard graduate, kind, and generous doctor that loves her work but loves helping others even more. She has volunteered on several occasions to aid in the relief efforts in Haiti. She's a great doctor that listens well before diagnosing people's pain and/or illnesses. The office manager, Lisa, is also great! I highly recommend her for anybody is in search of a neurologist. read more

Dr. Chagnon is great, but her staff is terrible, which is why I am rating her office with 1 star. At one appointment I had to meet with Nurse Practitioner Janet who has no bedside manner, and obviously did not read my chart because when I met with her she acted like I was a low-functioning stroke victim, not a high-functioning professional that had a serious problem that required care by a neurologist. Lisa, the office manager, was equally bad. The crux of the problem was that the staff did not appear to communicate with the doctor. Dr. Chagnon promised me she would follow up on an issue I had by talking to my PCP, but instead, Lisa sent me a letter stating that neither my wife nor I would be seen by the office any more because we had not followed the contract (I need to restate I spoke to Dr. Chagnon about the issue that Lisa terminated me for, and I also left messages for Dr. Chagnon, so I was very communicative.) My wife and I being terminated by a neurologist without cause left us in a precarious situation. When I requested medical records from the office, the medical records were incomplete. There was no record of the conversation I had with Dr. Chignon, nor were there any records regarding being terminated as a patient. I refused to pay for incomplete medical records and now 1.5 years later I am being harassed by a bill collections agency that is trying to get a measly $27 for records. I would have paid for complete medical records, but I will not pay for incomplete records. read more

Sonoma Pain Creation would be a better name for this business. Believe the several other one-star reviews - dealing with them will cause headaches. Their staff is completely unprofessional, non-responsive, evasive, and, yes, painful to deal with. They don't call back even after multiple voicemails, refuse to deal with the insurance company, and refuse to answer simple questions about insurance. The entire burden will be on you to figure out referrals, authorizations, and procedure codes. If you don't then you will either land up paying the full bill or get threatened with a collection agency. Apparently I don't react well to threats and evasion, so I was informed that all further correspondence should be written. Well, here you go Sonoma Pain Creation! I have no idea what Dr.s office the people leaving 1 stars and negative reviews are talking about because they absolutely do NOT fit any of the many visits, conversations and dealings I have had with Dr. Chagnon and her staff. The only thing I can think of is that these people are probably the type that come off as demanding, entitled and rude and it is just human nature, and completely professional btw, to be responded to with some defensiveness and hesitation. The staff has SO MUCH WORK and a lot of patients they work with and for every day, often times leaving them in the office very late to make sure each and every patient is given the attention and services they deserve. I can personally attest to that fact, I have had my phone calls returned as late as 7 or 8 PM so I could get a response the same day as the message I left. I wish the naysayers luck finding anyone who fits their immaculate standards of care because if it isn't Sonoma Pain Management then it only exists in a fairytale fantasy world with Oompa Loompas, the perfect mate and unicorns... just sayin..... read more

Dr. Chagnon is a great doctor. She was very sympathetic and understanding of the issues I have been having. I was scared and she made me feel better about my diagnosis. The only complaint I have is her office Manager Lisa, she is so difficult to deal with. First of all she treats you like you are bothering her. She doesn't answer the phone so you have to leave a message. Then the call rarely gets returned. I have called 3 times now to get a letter for work and I can't even get a call back even though I have said I would pay out of pocket the $40 charge to write a simple letter. This is so frustrating since I am not one of her pain management patients, I am NOT looking for medication I am neurology patient. The last phone call Lisa actually returned she said "Oh by the way, we no longer take your insurance". I have not gotten a call back since. I AM VERY FRUSTRATED! read more
