Hollander submitted a proposal based on the work they did BEFORE they solicited my business. They actually went out to the gravesite about a month after the burial and COMPARED what my father's stone had (they hadn't done it 30 years ago) to what my mother's COULD BE now... and submitted the idea and proposal, all included. We asked Hollander Monuments to prepare and install a headstone after our beloved father's death (we dealt with Susan- aka Sue). The contract for the headstone was signed in 2/2017. Sue originally told us that the foundation for the headstone had not been laid by the cemetery and that we had to wait until they did so. After several months of waiting (with no phone call or email from Sue) I finally called the cemetery, who told me that the foundation for our father's grave was preset and that the cemetery relayed this to Hollander in 3/2017. After telling Sue this, she offered no apology and said she would look into it. After a few weeks of not hearing anything, I got pretty upset and asked her what was going on. She must have forgotten we spoke because she told me, again, that the foundation was not laid. When I reminded her that it was, she (the next day) told me that the monument had been installed. Very bad business. Not one I would deal with when it comes to giving your loved ones the monument they deserve. read more

No one wants to buy a headstone for someone they love. It makes their death so final. It is however something that must be done out of love and respect. I put off doing this for as long as I could. When I finally decided to do it, it was very important to me to find the best place possible. I needed to find a monument company that would be totally reliable, reasonably priced, deliver on time, treat me with kindness and great sensitivity and provide the highest quality craftsmanship. I found all this and more at Abraham Hollander Monuments on East 17th Street in Brooklyn. From the moment I entered Hollander, I was treated with the greatest compassion and gently walked through every step. Because I waited so long to start the process and already had a date picked out for the unveiling, I gave them an impossible timetable. They however, worked with the cemetery and I was able to have the unveiling on time. Everyone at the ceremony commented how perfectly lovely the stone was and it was beautifully done. I will be going back within the next few weeks to pre-plan a headstone for me and my husband to take the burden off our family when we pass.
