Cheap prices and the staff has always been incredibly kind. It is a school though, so you may not get the same cut you'd get if you went to a professional barber. Overall though I've been happy with the cuts I've received and for under 10.00 you really can't beat it. read more

I came here yesterday for a $6 senior haircut. They did a good job, and the price can't be beat. This will be my barbershop from now on. Word to the wise: the senior discount is only available certain days of the week, I think it's Tuesday through Thursday. I don't know how good they are at complicated cuts, but mine was a simple buzzcut. read more

Daily Senior specials, got a hot lather head shave and beard trim for $10. CAnt beat that. Tiana was the tech, very conscientious. Took her time and made sure I was satisfied with beard length etc. Hot towels, lather, old school treat. Competition quote via Yelp was $25. Glad I found these guys/gals. I usually take my son to Hollywood once every couple of months when he finally gets tired of dealing with his hair... I took him to hollywood finally last week and the barber that cut his hair, Jay, was beyond patient and kept great conversation with my son. I asked for one of the more experienced students and agreed to pay the additional $5. When asked, the student assigned to me said he was new. The haircut I got was what you would expect from a beginner student. He was very uncertain about what he was doing as you would expect from a beginner. I've been getting haircuts here for a year. Knowing these are students in training, I never made an issue about my haircuts. I did this time. The front desk people are rude. Shame on the owners trying to pass off a beginner student as experienced. And if you think giving attitude to the public, not gratitude, is the way to conduct business, then you are destined for failure. read more

I went to Hollywood Barber and wanted some advice on a cut for cruly hair. Christopfer was the one that was helping me. He had some really good ideas for a cut and I love it. The place I was going never suggested any of what he did. I could not ask for a better cut. He also gave me some really good advice on some hair products that would be good for my hair. I don't know why I it took me so long to start coming here, it's a cool vibe and experience. Don't be taken aback by the strip mall it's in, because there are quite a few unsavory characters lurking in the parking lot and around, they are really harmless. Inside there are no bells and whistles, no nice waiting room, and no free drinks. What there is; is a whole bunch of enthusiastic barbers to be, who are congenial and intent to give you a great haircut experience. I was able to get seen quickly on a Friday afternoon (around 3:30). I had a simple buzz cut done and my barber-in-training was Ron. Nice guy and was only there a week or so. He did a very good job with the buzz and did clean up parts of my cut that I had mucked up previously. I tried to shave my head for the months of October and November and the hair has grown back uneven. While he was cutting my hair his trainers had come by to give him pointers and to eventually clear him when he was done. The buzz cost $6 and it was worth the long cut time (about 45 minutes or so, I didn't really keep track). My only complaint was that the place looked a little run down and the barber's were sharing the supplies. Rob had to go to several stations to get the #3 clip to buzz my head (took about 10 minutes or so to find what he needed). On the other hand, if the barbers-in-training weren't cutting hair, they were studying or cleaning the shop (mopping, sweeping, or dealing with the various trash cans). Every now and then I saw the owner come out to observe the students and generally kept order in his school. Normally I do my own hair or, when I need to be pampered, I go to the Men's Room Barbershop on Campbell. Based on this experience, I will come back to Hollywood Barber College when I need a cheap haircut and to help out a student. Which will be moren often as I have a hard time buzzing the back of my head (since I am balding in the front, that's the majority of my haircut nowadays). read more

Not happy with their customer service. My boyfriends wallet was stolen there, and I asked to see the cameras to make sure it wasn't the employees or students, and they purposely never let me view them. Other than that, 1 and 1/2 hours to get a simple haircut, and it was mediocre at best. read more

This place feels a bit like a halfway-house for young male prisoners working their way back into society. A few of them seem genuinely interested in learning the trade, the rest look like they are just trying to rack up a few bucks so they can buy a new pair of sneakers. Their work is checked by the owner, which is reassuring. They take walk-ins, and have plenty of trainees waiting to cut some hair - I doubt you would ever have much of a wait here. I got a pretty decent haircut, well worth the $7 charge. However, I think I rolled the dice right this time, I'm not certain I'd chance this joint again. read more

I went there for shave. . My health is not good so I just wanted a clean and smooth shave. He nicked me twice, and when I was lowered in the chair, I was very uncomfortable. So I guess that's what I get for a $3.00 sheave. I will stick with my fusion razors at home. read more

I have been using this service for over 20 years. I have never had a bad haircut or a negative experience. All haircuts are checked by an instructor, so when necessary, the instructor takes over and teaches, so you get a really good cut, even when you have a brand new student. I also have my beard trimmed and have frequently trusted my throat to a straight razor in the hands of a novice. Never drawn blood. Also, I never have to wait. Get in, get out. The works for $10 or less. read more
