For everyone who doesn't have any health concerns this is only place I can highly recommend to give birth of your baby! It was my dream of beautiful natural birth that comes true I'm Russian and I have two babies now. My son was born in Russia. There isn't birthing centers in Russia, but I tried done everything to birth naturally in hospital. It was nice, vaginal birth with my husband. But not so natural as I had here, in HBC. Now, I see a big gap btw these two births. First time, in Russia, my Midwife was saying where I need push and where l need't. I had to be checked during labor by doctor (is my cervical ready for birth or not) climbing that high chair, when I was feeling contractions Here, I have Dabbie, my Midwife and owner of the center. When I just came to the center and met her, I fell in love. She is so wise and experienced. After hard long flight from Far East of Russia to Florida I catch the flu. Doctor prescribed me antibiotics which I didn't want to take. Debbie gave me instructions how I can treat myself naturally. I followed it and was recovered from disease very soon. Besides Debbie, I had appointments with Jamarah and Mi Mi. They were caring and professional too. Saying a lot about healthy food I need to eat. Mi mi helped me to choose the pediatrics. It was my 41 st week, midnight. My waters were broken down and very strong constructions were starting. I called to the center and go to HBC. It was Debbie who came in one time with me. I was so happy that she came. I delivered my baby at 2:03. Debbie was doing everything for me by herself. I had my sister in law with me, but she couldn't help me more than Debbie. When my daughter was born she had cord entanglement, Debbie quickly removed the cord and baby was fine. I was weak after birth because lost a lot of blood. I was in the center until was filling well. Midwife was treating me like her own daughter. My baby didn't get stress like my son in hospital. She didn't cry so much, everything was in a calm peaceful way. Thank you God for such good right start of new life of my daughter! I can't imagine another place for birthing. It's so pity, that a lot of women think about birthing like something that need to participate doctors. Birth isn't medical event women have perfect body for natural birth. I chose Hollywood Birth Center based on glowing recommendations from friends and my doctor's wife. I'd had a terrible hospital birth with my first daughter and wanted a calm, supportive environment this time. Unfortunately, since the new owner, Gelena, took over, my experience was extremely disappointing. First, I was told they accepted my insurance (Ambetter), only to find out later they didn't. After weeks of fighting with the Marketplace to switch plans, I was told the new one wasn't accepted either. I ended up paying $5,000 out-of-pocket. Communication was another nightmare. The MobileMidwife app constantly malfunctioned, and emails were frequently missed or lost. I had to make a new email address just to keep up, and once I did, the app stopped working altogether. When labor started, I followed their "5-1-1" rule (contractions five minutes apart, lasting one minute) before heading to the center--but my labor moved too quickly. By the time my water broke, I couldn't leave the house. I ended up giving birth at home. Thankfully, the midwife made it just in time to deliver my baby--but I have a friend who also used them, and her neighbor had to deliver her baby because the midwife didn't arrive in time. To make matters worse, my baby's birth certificate listed the wrong address, and I spent weeks emailing back and forth to fix their mistake. This entire experience was stressful, disorganized, and far from the safe, empowering birth I was promised. Avoid this place at all costs. read more

Had my second birth at home with the staff from Hollywood Birth Center and it was perfect. Mimi is an incredible midwife. Not only did I feel comfortable with her the entire pregnancy but she was so calm and reassuring during labor. I truly loved both of my experiences with HBC and would never want to go to a traditional birth setting in a hospital. I had my second son at home, water home birth, and it was amazing experience especially after having my first son 11 months prior at the hospital. Ada and the front desk staff are so kind and helpful. And midwife Mimi was so engaging full of energy in all the appointments we had. She always had an answer to my Concerns and took her time with me in every appointment and even was patient when I would take my baby to the appointments and would sometimes help me out with him. Her tips were always on point. She is very smart and knows what she is doing. As for the birth her and midwife assistant and doula Dawna made my birth so soothing and encouraged me so much in the moments I felt I was going to give up. My mom and husband who at first were so scared of me having a home birth enjoyed so much the experience and now are advocates of homebirths. read more

I chose to have my child here at this particular Birth center on a gut of faith. After going through a tour and meeting Ms Debbie and her staff I knew my experience was bound to be better than my first birth center experience. The office is really thorough, organized and honestly feels like home. My midwife who prepared me for an amazing birth was Dellareece & I can't thank her enough for assuring my family that midwifery is the way to go. Do NOT go here if you are looking for someone to coach you or offer any kind of support during your labor. Throughout my labor I was forced to endure the sound of my midwife and the secretarial staff giggling and gossiping right outside my door. It was disruptive and counterproductive to my attempts at relaxing and dealing with my contractions. When my labor extended over 24 hours without progression and I had gone 12 hours without being able to pass urine despite having an extremely full bladder, my midwife tried to discourage me from going to the hospital by lying to me and telling me I would have to wait to be admitted. She then fed me some herbal mix that had nothing but a laxative effect and went back to chit chatting with her friends. I ended up having a wonderful delivery at Memorial Regional Hospital, after which my midwife withdrew all support and behaved in a sulky, unprofessional manner. They took over 3 months to refund money that we were owed, despite repeated assurances that "the check was in the mail." I wanted an unmedicated birth, but nature and fate had other ideas, and it became obvious after 24 hours that I was going to have to be flexible, despite my midwife's frowny faces, which is all she seemed capable of when it came down to it. The important thing is that my baby was born healthy and whole. Nine months later he has hit every milestone ahead of time and hasn't had so much as an ear infection. read more

I went here for all of my prenatal visits. The office staff are all extremely friendly and helpful, the classes are informative and made me feel prepared for a birth center birth. HBC has more experience then any of the other south Florida centers that I found and for that reason we chose it. The best part of my experience with HBC is that even after I had to give birth in a hospital due to complications at the end of my pregnancy, my midwife Mimi still visited me in the hospital and made herself readily available with any and ALL questions and concerns I had, even outside of business hours(like no joke! There's a reason why they've called it amazing birth. Becky, the head midwife was really patient for my almost 18 hours labor and she really care about me and my baby. She was assisted by Vanessa and Amy and they were so attentive. I felt so important. They were all so caring and you can tell they love what they do. I wouldn't have done it any other way. I'm so glad My husband and I found this awesome place. From breast feeding class to birthing class to new born care class, we were like a pro the moment our baby came out. They give you the opportunity to meet and deal woth all midwifes so by the time my baby came out, I wouldn't have to deal with spreading my legs to a lady whom ive never met. which is fantasic. they offer BF classes and other yoga stuff and you can see a chiropractor there ad have dullas as well. The only things separating them from 5 stars is that while I have in Labor ( 1 hour prior to pushing) I was told I couldn't use the room until I finished paying. Like, I'm in pain and about to have a baby and I need to whip out my wallet?? the room was not in use but if i didn't pay I couldn't use the water pool.... Which to me is RIDICULOUS! but we just paid anyway. I had my baby at the center on Nov. 28th, 2018. The entire staff was warm and welcoming. I've never felt more comfortable in medical care before. They provided all the educational and emotional support I needed as well with their extra support class and 24 hr call service. The environment is clean and peaceful. Had my baby just last year it was very traumatic. I didn't get to choose a midwife because they weren't available but On call midwife Dellareece was exhausted and tired before I arrived in the Uber; this lady treated me poorly. She had her hand up me attempting to pull my baby out. I hemorrhaged out of control, kept having seizures while she was yelling at me, body slamming me on the bed by my legs, saying she needed to get out of town, she was cursing, even went to sleep on me; her assistant Micah who I never met were laughing at her while Dellareece was clowning around dancing. Every time my case manager T would come in her voice would lighten up towards me. This was the worst experience ever. I couldn't move my legs, was in unbearable pain and Dellareece said to me " You sure have a low tolerance for pain, Damn! All types of crazy things should would say. She's still practicing here on others but I know she will pay for what she did in the spiritual realm. The people here have blood on their hands. Dellareece rushed my birth and was very cruel. I'm still going through the pain and very traumatized from this experience. They gave my newborn shots under his arms without my knowledge and other things against my birth plan & culture. As an indigenous woman, we face so much trauma surrounding birth. This opened my eyes up. You may hear them speak on positive subjects but these people are no different. There's so many other wrong things happened in here; this center should be closed down. Following all of this; I ended up at the same hospital where indigenous women parts were stolen without their consent an experiment for others. The hospital experience was a nightmare. I will live with this, my children will live with this trauma. My child cries over this all the time. I'm not going to write anymore of what happened following this experience but just know I was apart of an experiment that I had no knowledge about and the owner of this center is in question. read more

I completed my first birth with HBC and am now on pregnancy #2 :-) (with them) and I still think they are awesome. One of the great things about HBC is the opportunity to meet and become familiar with so many professional midwives as you progress through your pregnancy. Via your prenatal visits, you have the opportunity to basically interview them all before settling on the person or team that works best for you. Once you know who is the best fit for you, you can request that person or team to attend your birth. Also, you have the option of having your midwife attended birth at the center or at your home. I have chosen homebirth for both of my births. :-) While birth with midwifery is not for everyone, it is a beautiful option for women and families that understand that birth is not a medical event (anymore than any other normal bodily function..like sex or eating or dancing). Just like everything else in life, there are risks, but there is no reason for a normal healthy pregnancy to require hospitalization for birth. Women have been designed to give birth naturally and have been doing so successfully for millennia. Midwife attended birth has a proven history of far superior maternal and infant outcomes over hospital/ OB attended birth. In fact, most of Europe's women have midwife attended births and the European birth statistics (injuries and mortality for both mothers and babies) are much MUCH better than our American stats with OB attended hospital births dominating the market. American women have been duped into thinking that birth is traumatic and dangerous or that their bodies can not do it properly with out drugs or interventions, but this is fiction. If you are curious to learn more on midwife attended birth, a great book on this subject is "Ina May's Guide to Childbirth" (currently with nearly 500, five star reviews on Amazon). Birth is such a personal choice for a mom. I did so much research about hospital birth to water "natural" birth. For me the choice became very clear and I was finally at peace with a natural water birth. Debbie, the owner and midwife herself has a way to calm and empower any mother. I had left several OBGYNs in tears and fear. (Yes there are some amazing Drs but a midwife was perfect for me.) she is so patient and answers all my 2st time mommy questions. I feel so blessed that I will be delivering here any day now :) Also she recommend I watch the documentary "business of being born." (YouTube) this was very eye opening and helped me come to a conclusion. Love it here and have had the best experiences so far!!! read more

I had a terrible experience working with Holy Cross Medical Group so I looked into a few other all natural options and found self in love with the hollywood birth center. Debbie (the owner) made us feel so comfortable and welcomed on our first visit! As a first time mother I did not know what to expect but she did a beautiful job explaining pregnancy all the way through the delivery. My midwives are simply amazing. They answer every single question I have with no judgment (there are no silly baby questions). The hollywood birth center wants to make YOUR birth plan/wishes come true unlike many MD / hospital settings. I look forward to the birth of my first son this coming October. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE be very careful if you are planning your babies birth with Debbie and her team. My daughter lost her baby girl as she was still born being past her due date. The folks there were very nonchalant about her going past her due date and should have had heightened concern vs just telling her to wait until she goes into labor even putting off her last appt more than a week past her due date. They should have been monitoring her closely and sent her for a ultrasound where it would have been identified that her amniotic fluids were too low. So PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE if you are considering these folks make sure and have ultrasounds on your own since they do not do that. The autopsy on my granddaughter showed she was perfect if only we had known the fluids were low and could have induced labor and she would be a beautiful little girl right now instead of only in our broken hearts. read more

I had a horrible experience at this birth center. Look somewhere else! It's not worth it. First of all, I think it should be noted that the owner and midwife, Debbie, is anti-vax and even against MICROWAVES. I just can't say that she takes a science or evidence-based approach to birth, at all. RUN! Second of all, my midwife Mimi treated me horribly while I was already in labor due to a misunderstanding about when I was coming to the birth center. To make matters worse, when I returned to the birth center because I was in too much pain to labor at home, I ended up feeling too uncomfortable due to the interaction with Mimi that morning to go back in, so I just sat in my car in the parking lot laboring in my car. Mimi ended up passing my car and realizing I was there, and instead of asking me if I was okay or what was going on, she just told me she was going to lunch and would be back later. She barely even stopped to say that, and then she was on her way...not a single question about if I was okay, what had happened, or why I was back. It wasn't until the receptionist, Ada (amazing woman), realized I was outside in my car crying this whole time after I stood up, that I was invited inside...at this point I was already seriously considering transferring to the hospital. She had not realized I was in my car due to the window tints, but Mimi had passed in front of my car which is how she had seen us and, like I said, nothing more than a brief "I'm going to lunch" meanwhile at this point I was in active labor. Then, when I decided to transfer to the hospital, Mimi refused to check me to let me know how far along I was, saying that she would only check me if I decided to stay and birth at the center because she "didn't want to inconvenience me" by having me checked both there and then at the hospital when I arrived. Inconvenience me?? How is it inconveniencing me to check how far dilated I am, if that is what I am asking so that I know it is safe to drive to the hospital?? I ended up having to do the whole drive in a state of anxiety because I did not know how far along I was. Mimi was negative about admitting me at all because when she did check me that morning I was only 3cm dilated and kept telling me I could be in labor for days (not an encouraging thing to hear), even though my gut instinct told me that wasn't the case and I kept trying to explain to her that I did not feel comfortable laboring at home...and just as I had thought, by that night I was a full 10cm dilated and gave birth by 9PM without pitosin. On my drive to the hospital, it was already the afternoon, and I was only hours away from giving birth...who knows what would have happened had been minutes, rather than hours, away from giving birth. I had no way to know...I was given no guidance...lectured by Mimi for coming in before I was "5-1-1," even though I explained to her that I had just come to the birth center to be there when they opened because I was a first-time mom, anxious, had no idea what to expect, and just needed 5 minutes of any of the midwife's time to be checked and try to understand what was happening/what to expect, that my baby was okay and I was okay. All I needed was a bit of kindness and encouragement while I was experiencing the worst pain of my life...instead I was treated like garbage. GO SOMEWHERE ELSE. read more

Its taken me a very long time to write this because I have been pretty traumatized about the whole experience... I want to say that my prenatal care here was great.. I always felt comfortable and in good hands. I had my eyes set on a natural water birth and at 30 weeks my insurance dropped its coverage for hollywood birth center. I pulled every dime i had together to pay for the birth in cash ($5,000) money well spent to be in great hands right? wrong? The minute my water broke was when my experience here started to go down hill. Becky was my midwife and she was pretty hands off.. if you are looking for a coaching experience, hire a doula because (i was informed later) midwifes are solely there to deliver the baby.. anyways I experienced heart wrenching back labor.. When I was in my lowest, darkest hour Becky decided that she was going to take a nap and send in an assistant which i had never met before, I was naked and in pain and had no connection to this assistant which i think was yet another reason not to progress... I was still at 5 centimeters after 24 hours and decided to leave.. with no money left to pay for a hospital birth i was pretty stubborn about staying at the birth center so i didn't have to spend any more money (my insurance only pays 80%) we left and went to the hospital and had a healthy baby boy after being in labor for 43 hours.. yikes..after my birth becky reached out to me several times to try and do postnatal care on the baby, First i wasn't very happy with her and did not have the emotional capacity to deal with her.. second i didn't want to spend one more dollar at the birth center, i knew if she did post natal visits then it would be deducted from my refund... .FYI they only reimbursed me $300 and told me usually they only refund $50 from the labor due to all the prenatal visits there... to each their own... but i was not happy with my experience here read more

My review is solely based on the time I've spent there and my prenatal visits since I decided to follow my gut and transferred to a private midwife. I decided on the birth center because I thought I was going to get great individualize care. From the beginning I knew I wanted a private midwife that I would see solely and know for certain she would attend my birth. At the center you work with a team of midwives, the team I had and the prenatal care they offered was good. They were friendly and spend a substantial amount of time with me so I rate that experienced high. The reason why I decided to transfer was because some of my questions and the answers I received were a bit vague and not what I was expecting and I simply did not feel that this was the best place for me. In the end the center might be a great fit for those who don't mind working with a team of midwives instead of just one and if you click great with the staff/owner as they are a part of the center as well. But if you want a private midwife then go with that and don't wait like I did, interview and if any midwife or birth center doesn't answer your questions adequately or does not give you the answer you are looking for than keep looking. I recommend the center on one condition... do not be afraid to ask serious and tough questions, especially about what they offer and how they view labor and delivery, make sure you ask all of your team of midwives the same questions, and if you feel comfortable and secure in your decision than no doubt you will have a fantastic birthing experience there. read more

Unfortunately, we made a big mistake in choosing the Hollywood Birth Center for prenatal and delivery. Our experience was not only terrible, but the staff is rude, careless and made our experience a negative one. Our midwife was exhausted upon arrival and fell asleep during the labor. Scary. Personal care did not exist and they threw us out shortly after delivery (they literally moved our bags next to the outside door to leave). The small amount of equipment they do have is either out-of-date or non-functioning. The facility is dirty. I'm not sure they understand the importance of sanitation. This is just a few points on the list of complaints that we have. Instead of being one of the most beautiful moments of life, the birth center tainted the birth day of my child. Don't be fooled: What they promise and say in their initial tour is very different than the reality that we experienced. DON'T SAY YOU WEREN'T WARNED. I wish a review like this had existed before we chose the birth center to deliver our child. We will not make this mistake again. read more

I've waited a little while to write this review in order to really process my birthing experience and to be able to put into words something that just cannot be justified with words alone. But here, I'll try. First I'll say how thankful I am for the entire Hollywood Birth Center family. I spent my first two prenatal appointments at an OB, which felt like a factory. I would wait for hours to be seen, getting my records transferred was nearly impossible, and appointments were about 5 minutes long. When I transferred to the Hollywood Birth Center, I knew and felt that this incredible time in our lives was met with the attention to detail it deserved. Opposite of my experience at the OB, I never waited longer than 5 minutes to be seen, and appointments were very in depth and helped me feel prepared for what was to come. My delivery was almost 2 weeks "late" with few signs of progress, so I began to fear having to be induced at the hospital bc I was sure a c-section was to follow (as was the case for my sister with all 3 of her children). My fears were met with calmness, and my midwife proactively started me on a few natural induction methods. Sure enough, I was in labor a couple days later. My husband and I were taken on a journey as our midwives guided us through several hours of labor. All the fears we had based on conventional hospital births were washed away with calmness and reassurance. Soon enough, our little girl had entered our world, and indeed, it could not have happened as we planned without Delareese and her assistant. For the way that my labor took place, a hospital certainly would have turned it into an emergency (though not an emergency in the slightest)... so everyday .... I am thankful for not only being assured that my worst fears would not take place, but also for the re-assurance during my labor that everything was fine, and allowing my body to take its time to do what it was made to do. I am so deeply thankful for the entire 9-10 month experience at the Hollywood Birth Center with some of the most beautiful people I've ever known. read more

Upon reading some of the "negative"reviews on yelp I am wondering if those people even went to the same hollywoOd birth center that I had my birth. I had an amazing experience with HBC. From the initial tour of the facility up until my actual birth I always felt completly at home and part of a wonderful little community of like minded people. The staff is friendly and accommodating. I was part of "team a" and saw a total of four different midwives throughout my prenatal care one of which was the Owner Debbie. We always felt like all our questions were answered. I never felt rushed. They spent plenty of time with us each visit. When it came time for my birth I was under the caring hands of my midwife Betty and birth assistant Liz. I am completely in awe of these two amazing women. They took such great care of me during my 9 hour labor and afterwards. The birth of my son was the most beautiful experience of my life and so much of that was because of where I chose to birth and the people who were a part of it.
