The ride here was fine. The staff was friendly and very helpful. We were the only people on the bus What really bothered me was the ride back. We decided to leave the concert a little early, hoping to beat the crowd. Even though we were the only people on the bus, we had to wait until 10:30. Hollywood Bowl aficionados, listen to me! If you're going to see a show at the bowl, DO NOT DRIVE YOURSELF THERE. Driving up yourself is a rookie move. Let me explain: you see, the Hollywood Bowl lots are all stacked parking, meaning you'll be trapped in your spot until all the cars in front of you leave. So if you happen to need to leave right away, you can't until the cars blocking you move. The last time we drove ourselves in and parked, we had to wait almost an hour before we finally were able to extricate our car from the lot. So do yourself a favor and take one of the convenient Park and Ride shuttle buses! You can buy advance tickets via Ticketmaster (recommended as it's a few dollars cheaper if you do this) or buy them the day of at the Park and Ride. But if you choose to wait, if it's a popular show, you might not be guaranteed to get on one of the buses. I believe tix are $7 each online, and $10 at the bus (but don't quote me!). They have quite a few choices as buses leave out of Westwood, Torrance, Chatsworth, Ventura, The LA Zoo, Lakewood, and Pasadena. We usually leave from the Lakewood lot which is located inside the parking lot of the Lakewood Mall behind the Forever 21. I'd recommend you opt for one of the earlier shuttles, just in case. I used the shuttle for a Killers concert many years back and our driver actually got lost and we ended up arriving as the opening act finished. I was none too happy that I missed The Psychedlic Furs' set. So the earlier shuttles are better IMHO in case anything happens on your shuttle ride. The total ride is usually about 40 mins. If your show happens to be on a weekday in rush hour, expect longer transit times. Once your Hollywood Bowl show is over, you should make your way back down to the shuttle loading area (walk all the way down the hill and into the under-street tunnel. Take the first exit up to the right and you'll pop up to catch the Lakewood line. They tell you when you arrive which Shuttle number you should return to, but if you forget - don't worry, they have lots of friendly shuttle employees who will gladly help you. I had the absolute weirdest first experience using the Hollywood Bowl Shuttle. I bought a ticket in advance. It was $8.75 since I bought it 2 days before the concert, though; the prices will increase (from $7) if you don't get it early enough. PRINT YOUR BUS TICKETS. GET THERE EARLY. My bus ride was suppose to depart at 6:30 PM. I arrived a good 15 minutes before departure, and already all the seats were full and there were plenty of people waiting to get in. The staff was unsure if there was another bus that will show up, so they had all the rest go in and stand. Luckily, a luxury bus (whoo!) called in a couple minutes into the ride and took all of us who were standing. We stopped at a nearby bus station and swapped. The driver for our luxury bus was awesome, and he even pulled over on the freeway to take in stranded Hollywood Bowl goers whose bus (coming from Torrance) had broken down. Going back after the concert, follow the herd of people down the hill and go through the tunnel. The tunnel goes under the street, and you will follow the sign for "Park and Ride." It is the exit on the right, where you will emerge in the middle of the street. Lakewod Bus line 660 will be the third line over on the street. You have 25 minutes from the end of the concert to make it back to the bus. This is the best way to get to the Hollywood Bowl. Not many months before, I drove there myself for another concert and it was incredibly stressful. PROS: - Avoid stresses from driving - You can pre-game in the bus - You meet new people - Carpooling is a more environmentally friendly option - Affordable - (relatively) Punctual CONS (ergo 3 stars): -Staff was a little unfriendly -Staff didn't have the best communication with each other - Buses are like city buses -You may need to stand (unless a luxury bus magically saves the day) -They won't wait for you If you stay calm, listen to directions, and are punctual, then you shouldn't have a problem with the Park and Ride system. LAKEWOOD LOCATION: In the parking lot where the Hometown Buffet is, off Candlewood Street and Graywood Avenue. It isn't on the street or near the street. It will literally be in the middle of the parking lot. You will see the buses and a ton of people. It should be it. Park your car nearby. Be sober when you get back and drive home safely. DURATION: The concert was on a Saturday. It took about 45 minutes to get there. Depending on traffic, this will vary. read more

My friend and I used this service last Friday and were impressed. It would have been nice if we had more complete information so that is why I am writing this review to fill in some of the blanks. 1. There is only one bus that goes from the Metro station parking lot (the larger one, not the north smaller lot) and it departs at 6:30 not 2&1/2 hours prior to the performance. 2. There is no sign that states "Lot 11", it is the parking lot directly south of the Metro station on Lakewood Blvd and the 105 freeway. 3. The were two ladies who arrived around 6:00 that set up chairs out of the trunk of their car and are located next to the string of concrete pylons. Even if you purchased your ticket prior to that date on line, you still have to check in with them to get your paper ticket. 4. Prior purchase of the ticket enables you to board the bus first. 5. The bus is comfortable and air conditioned. 6. The bus arrives around 6:10 and leaves promptly at 6:30 so don't be late. 7. Since we were being dropped off, I'm not 100% sure as to how you pay the $3 parking fee, but it looked to be a kiosk at the front entrance. The ride to the bowl took about an hour on a Friday afternoon with traffic, which wasn't all that bad. The bus drops you off, literally, at the front entrance and getting back to the bus after the concert was super easy. They tell you which bus number to find, collect your paper ticket and will not leave until all people are on board. The only draw back would be if you wanted to arrive earlier to the Bowl, catch the bus that leaves the Lakewood Mall, which begins departing at 5:30. We arrived just in time to get a drink and find our seats. Over all, a seamless experience! read more

This service was AMAZING. I went to the John Williams concert last night and did not want to deal with Friday traffic, parking or driving to the Bowl. I looked online and realized they do a Park and Ride from Lakewood, so we decided to take the risk and try it for the first time. I say 'risk' because we took a shuttle service from the Parsons parking lot to the Rose Bowl a couple weekends ago for the Coldplay concert and it was a complete DISASTER. Thousands of people all trying to get on the shuttle from the concert back to the parking lot it was a line that took people a couple hours just to get on a bus back to their car. We ended up walking the 1.5 miles instead of waiting -- so we knew that if THIS service was like the Rose Bowl, there was no option but to wait. We decided that because there were so many Park and Ride cities, the demand to get on the Lakewood bus wouldn't be as insane as the Rose Bowl. We were right. There were at least three buses worth of people when we showed up at 5:15 p.m. for the 5:40 p.m. departure. Check the website for departure times based on your concert time -- they also suggest showing up at least 20 minutes before, but I would show up at least 30 to 45 minutes if you have a ticket or need to buy one on the lot. Next time we go, we now know that we can save money and time by purchasing/printing out the ticket online for $7 as opposed to the $12 cash we had to pay. Regardless, that $24 for our two tickets was worth EVERY PENNY. The buses were in the Lakewood Mall shopping center behind Costco and in front of Hometown Buffet. You can't miss them there in the center It was so painless to take the shuttle to the Bowl and I could sit back and browse on my phone or just zone out as someone else dealt with driving. We got to the Bowl in about an hour (Friday evening on Labor Day weekend, that's pretty good if you ask me) and the shuttle dropped us off right at the front gate. Someone came on beforehand to tell us how to get back on when the concert was over, and that was appreciated so we didn't have to walk around clueless about where to go. Once the concert was over, we headed over to the Hollywood Bowl sign, down the tunnel and through the first gate on the right, then found our Lakewood bus in the stall marked 660. Everything was easy to find and the numbers were painted on the ground. When the concert is over, DO NOT wait around before getting on the bus. They said to be back at the bus no later than 25 minutes after the concert and with the crowd all leaving you need all the time you can get. They do not wait around for guests to stroll onto the bus. Once it's full it takes off -- so you risk missing the bus if you socialize or want to do some shopping. I am not sure how many buses are designated for this stop, but we were on the second bus and we got on at 11 p.m. I am soooooo happy I learned about this a couple hours before the concert and it was such a bonus feature. I can honestly say this service alone will make me MUCH more inclined to look for events at the Bowl in the future. read more

I was on the August 4th, Shuttle 6:30pm, Downey Lot10 Charlie Wilson O j's concert..The bus AC,Was barely working to the point.. Passengers start opening the small top window.....A window on the right side, Popped open..The drive never pull the bus over to, Try to Secured the window.Yet instead, Passengers was trying to secure the window with no success... No concern from the driver... Which the seats were occupied with Senior Citizens,,,,The driver drove the whole route in the number 4 lane.I think the bus, Wasn't capable of going the maximum speed of 55... There were Disrespectful,,, inconsiderate, Profanity Using passengers on board....No restroom on board. Passengers start yelling out they had used the restroom...VERY BAD FIRST EXPERIENCE... read more

Love this service and not having to do stacked parking. Plenty of parking and buses are Located by Costco and Forever 21.

Extremely convenient. TOTALLY worth the small fee. You don't have to deal with driving in traffic. You generally get there, and out of there much faster than you would if you went by car. You have a good 30-40min after the show ends, to get back to your bus. Very easy, no worries. Highly recommended! read more
