I scheduled an appointment on Wednesday, 08/13, for Friday, 07/15, at 11am for a gel mani/pedi. Before continuing, let me be clear: I was fully aware I was booking with a student. I didn't expect perfection, this review has nothing to do with the student and everything to do with the lack of professionalism from the staff. I arrived at 10:45am with existing gel polish and overdue for a fill. My regular manicurist was out of town, so I decided to give the local nail school a try (the same one my manicurist graduated from). The student began removing my polish with a drill. I assumed she'd lightly drill, then wrap my nails in foil, but instead she drilled off the entire gel. Since my nails are naturally strong, I didn't critique her process, especially with her teacher nearby. About every 10 minutes the teacher stopped over, not to guide her, but to tell her to "pick up the pace." By 12pm (an hour in), she had just finished removing the polish. She attempted to trim and shape my nails, but her tools were dull. She asked her teacher for help, and the teacher briefly stepped in to cut my cuticles before walking away again. At 12:30, she began applying polish. I asked for a French manicure, but the base already had visible bubbles. Still, I remained patient - it's a discounted service after all. When she attempted the French tip, she quickly realized she didn't have the right brushes. After multiple failed attempts, she admitted: "I'm sorry, I can't do this. I've only been in school a few weeks and missed a lot of classes due to personal matters." I appreciated her honesty and asked if anyone else could finish. The teacher said no - it was nearly 2pm and she "didn't have time." At that point, I decided to leave. But when I went to check out, I was told I had to pay for the gel mani/pedi. I calmly explained that I'd been there for over 2.5 hours, the service wasn't completed, and I wasn't going to pay. The receptionist called the teacher, who immediately went off on me, condescendingly reminding me "this is a school," as if I hadn't already known. Here's what's most frustrating: the teacher saw the student struggling over and over. She had countless opportunities to step in, explain expectations, or even redirect me to a more advanced student. Instead, she idly stood by, pressured the student to "speed up," and ultimately abandoned us both. When I refused to pay for services that weren't rendered, I was told to "get the f** out and don't come back." Not only did I waste 2.5 hours, but I also had to find another salon to fix the damage. My nails were left thin and cracking at the base, requiring an overlay to strengthen them. This experience was unacceptable, not because of the student, but because of the staff's unprofessionalism. If you're considering going to this school for services, I urge you to think twice. The staff should be retrained in communication, accountability, and how to properly support their students. My stylist Jessica knew just what to do with my brassy fried hair. With the guidance of her knowledgeable instructor, my hair has a lighter softer look and feel! I will be back in the recommended 4weeks for my next treatment and see Jessica when it's time for color! This school is not professional to say the least. We are on the 4th teacher assigned because the other 3 quit within a month. I almost feel like it's all a scam. The products sold as part of the start up kit are garbage. It is impossible to have anyone from financial aid to meet with you or even call you back nor respond to multiple emails yet at check in the front desk want to collect payment. They are claiming the balance due is twice as much as due but no one can explain anything. I truly regret doing business with Hollywood Institute. The previous reviews were misleading!!!! read more

I went in for a massage and boy did I get a great one. The student therapist happened to be a practicing massage therapist from another country who needed to get her license here in the states. The massage was relaxing, deep and comforting. The only issue was the person in the bed next to mine was talking very loudly through most of the massage. It was hard to tune her out. I would definitely go back for more student treatments. read more

I tried speaking with someone for about one month about enrollment. After 3 weeks of waiting for a call back, I get a missed call (no voice mail) and an email telling me "they had been trying to reach me". Really?! It's a pass for me. read more

The worst.. Unprofessional, cursing, loud. Young girl cutting my hair is graduating in one week and did not know how to do a basic layer haircut. She put product on the crown of my head and did not blend it in. I looked like a grease pit, hair cut was uneven. I like going to the schools to give the girls experience, however she is not ready to go out and do this on her own. I think her name was Mercedes. Love this place, such a great learning atomosphere. The new addition.of teachers and faculity they have here at this campus is a much needed and strong addition. Love my Electrology teacher Michelle for her kind gentle words and her wisdom, plus she's funny! Ms. Aida, Skin care, Aesthetics, teacher is the cutest! Such a knowledegable lady and both know HOW to share and impart their knowledge and wisdom to others to assist in ensuring your success and learning. I had had two friends graduate, at different times, from this facility. I was a little skeptical about joining because I wanted the best price for the money and good teachers. I had heard about the turnover in Administration and teaching and was not sure. I had even come into the facility, on several occassions, to use their discounted services on Massage and to get Keartin treatments on my hair. Never had a problem or issue, students were Advanced, needed the "Practical" portion for the state required hours for the course and they were EXCELLENT! Just like professionals, rarely a difference. I wanted to finally get my career going, not getting any younger, so I decided to do it!! Meet AJ in administration, super chill, nice guy and he encouraged me, without pressuring me to join the campus, afters 2 weeks I decided to do it. He guided me through the simple process, met the beautiful Aida in Administration and financial aid and became a student. I graduate in December 2016 and am super excited to be on this current endeavour. I've already learned so much and have met so many great classmates from my class and other classes. I purchased a groupon a couple months ago for two services. Called and scheduled a facial. When I arrived they assumed I wanted a massage and a facial. Told them I wasn't sure of what second service I wanted. I have never had a facial before so I didn't know what to expect. The girl who worked on me was nice but very loud. Did not ask me any questions about my skin. And her entire class wanted to come over and inspect all my tattoos and ask me questions about them. Almost felt like I was about to be operated on (bright light in my face and lots of people standing around me laying on the table). The girl wasn't even in school a month yet and said she was almost done with all of her service hours (YIKES). Overall was not pleased with the experience and my face didn't look or feel any different at all. Not too sure I even want to go back for a second service but maybe I'll have better luck in a different department. read more

If asking too much questions before signing papers is hard for financial aid to answer than this school is a waste. At then of the day that loan, that financial aid, is in my name. Your job is to make sure the future student feels comfortable with this school. They don't care about nothing but money. I've decided to sign up with this school. I've found it to be a great school and was very well interested in what was offered to me at the time. I mentioned to the counselor that I wanted to be able to open my own salon and make up was my profession. She mentioned skin care and electrology. The credentials that come with these 2 programs are great to have for your career but come to find out, they aren't the correct credentials when opening up and running a salon. You will need a cosmetology License or Certified in Full Specialist. I went to 2 schools and made my mind up to attend to this school. BUT Today 06/12/2018 I went in to sign the paper work before Finding all of this out. So I asked Alexandria the financial aid advisor about the pricing for cosmetology she stated 18k...... I said wow, yea,no. I asked about the full specialist she stated 10k. We calculated my grants and it was still 10k. So I asked what am I missing?? Why are you guys 10k and this school is 6k??? It's the same program, full specialist offers skin care, makeup, nails. Same hours (600hrs) and same certificate. She mention word of mouth of what is going to be on the lesson but when I asked for a list to show me these things she said the information is in the brochure. I informed her he only information that's in the brochure is telling about each program, not a list of things that we are going to be doing such as a preview of the syllabus. I showed her a copy of the other school list to what they have to offer for students to see and feel comfortable with what they are going to be doing. She couldn't say anything. She grabbed the brochure a looked through it and said i don't know if this going to help you but it tells you about the programs ( she basically repeated what I just said). I said ma'am it's not letting students know what is in the lesson. Her response was, Well I don't know what to tell you, And Tossed the brochure on my side of the desk. Sooo before I lost my mind, because my kids was with me and I don't stoop to people level, I politely picked up the brochure and put it on her key board and got up and told her you are right, you can't tell me shit. Have a nice day. This place has no patience and has nothing to offer. You aren't getting much for the money you are dishing you with financial aid. If the financial aid person says just look at it as another phone bill she clearly doesn't give a f**.. so no I would never look this way towards this school or recommend anyone to go tot his school. read more
