I did this and at first was like nope .. but then I had such an amazing experience. We had a great tour guide . Good group of people too. The weather started off cool then hot .. I recommend to have some sort of jacket just in case. We got really good shots too.

We had an amazing tour with Scott leading us through all of the BEST of Hollywood! He was very conscientious of traffic and safety on the roads and did a fantastic job of showing us the "insiders" guide to the sights, explaining the nostalgia, and really helped us appreciate the beauty of yesterday and today's Hollywood! I thoroughly recommend booking this tour..... it is the only way to truly see Hollywood! Thanks Scott!

I don't know if this tour is for everyone but it's for me. And pretty much all of my friends. And anyone who wants to have an awesome experience of LA by bike. With a fun guide. Who knows a lot about a lot. Some of those things are LA related. Some of them are not. After leaving San Francisco, Kris headed home but I took the girls (my Dutch exchange student and her Argentine exchange student friend) down the coast to LA where we scheduled a bike tour because that's what we do. In every city we visit. I found Bike Tours Hollywood on yelp from the train and because I had spotty service booked it quickly and figured that for the price, it was fine even if it ended up sucking. It didn't end up sucking. Our tour was set for 11 a.m. and like many of the tour companies, met at an address that's pretty much just where they swipe your credit card - not where they have a physical business. The physical business is a wooden podium and umbrella on the sidewalk. We arrived a few minutes early (usually you have to do that for a bike tour) but were told our guide would be there to fit us at 11 so we just hung around. After getting bikes we were off with a first stop at the fire escape in Pretty Woman. This is pretty much the first stop in any Hollywood tour. I'm serious. What happened next was not what happens on every tour. A douche in an Acura (wait, did we suddenly end up on Long Island?) nearly ran us off the road and started being a dick. This is LA, which is becoming more and more bike friendly and apparently the Douche is an endangered species. Like most endangered species it is hostile toward its competition. But, we are sassy (not the girls, but the guide and I) and we triumphed. Seriously. This was both fun and exciting and I bet some people thought we were filming a movie. After that we road around and saw lots of studios (tv, film, music), venues where people get started, famous scenes from the previous parenthetical and Richard Dreyfus. Who was kind of a dick. We also got to check out a few of the Scientology buildings. They were having a pretty big party at one. We weren't invited. Our guide, after showing us some initial sites, took us through some pretty neighborhoods leading to a park in a canyon. It was here we saw the Bat Cave and then the Hollywood sign. We took a ton of pictures here and met some interesting characters. Like Santa Porn. Apparently people like to come up here and view the sites of old tv shows (batman, star trek, etc) and this includes guys like Santa Porn. He approached us and asked if we were on a tour (did our matching pink sweatshirts give it away?). When we said yes he said that many groundbreaking things were shot right where we were standing. Our guide nicely asked if he was from the industry and Papa Noel said, "Yes, I am," and so we asked him to share a story. He began telling us about a porno he filmed. Wait - what? Yeah. And when our guide tried to take a picture he freaked out. So weird. Can we go back? Now? BIZARRENESS ABOUNDS and I loved it! So did the girls. After the film area we climbed a little hill to get the best views of the Hollywood Sign and take some pictures. Twp dudes were shooting a video (not inspirational, not a commercial... we asked. I'm convinced it was porn, too) of a hairless guy with the most amazing abs. Ever. I drooled. After this we road back down past Brad Pitt's compound and some other places and through a really cool farmers' market where we stopped to peruse the wares. We also did some cruising along Hollywood Blvd. This review is long and rambly and cannot capture the awesomeness of this tour. Just go. Trust me. It's fun and there's bound to be excitement. Possibly a few fights. And, if you're lucky, Santa Porn will pay you a visit!

Fantastic experience touring Hollywood with Scott as a kick-off to our California vacation! He was funny, accommodating, informative and energetic. We saw parts of Hollywood I know we wouldn't have seen without his expert knowledge and information. Don't hesitate to book his tour - it's fantastic (and we're not athletic people).

We had such a great Hollywood Bike tour with Scott today! We live in SoCal and decided to do a Hollywood Bike tour to celebrate a friend's birthday. Scott made sure we were safe throughout the tour. Scott is extremely knowledgeable and great story teller. The tour included a hike that gave us a view of Hollywood that we have never seen! All in all it was such a great experience. I would highly recommend taking this tour! Thank you Scott!

I've never used any other bike tours in Hollywood, but after taking this one, I'll never choose another! If you want advanced rides he has them! If you aren't as comfortable with biking and want a casual ride through Hollywood, there's one for you too! The bike I rode was a hybrid so it's easy on the uphill's, but it's also a very comfortable ride with wider tires than a trad road bike. My favorite thing about the tour was Scott my guide. He not only knew everything I would be interested in about the history of the places we visited, but as we rode along Hollywood Blvd and over to Griffith Park he knew everyone! They know him by name, and I didn't meet one person who wasn't happy and excited to see him! It made you feel like you were home out for an evening ride! I felt safe the entire time! He was very cautious for you who feel a little unsure about riding a bike. He's with you every step of the way! I recommend your tour with 5 , Scott! Thanks again, Sabrina Smith

Our guide, Ansley, was respectful, knowledgeable, approachable, and friendly. She really brought the stories to life and made everyone feel comfortable asking questions. The vintage funeral car was such a cool and fitting touch for the Manson Family Murders Tour (and the main reason why I booked the tour). About 80% of the experience was spent in the car, which was cozy and gave us plenty of time to soak in the history while listening to music from the era. Including Manson, The Beach Boys, and The Beatles, to name a few. We also made three stops along the way to get out, take photos, and see key locations up close. As a mortician, the experience carried an extra layer of meaning. I actually helped funeral direct the service for the LaBiancas' granddaughter (who had the same fate as her grandparents). So hearing and seeing this history firsthand felt deeply personal and surreal. If you're into true crime or Los Angeles history, this tour is an absolute must. Graveliners and Ansley made the experience both educational and unforgettable. We loved every minute!

Needless to say, we arrived 10+ minutes late to hear the buses already backing out. After doing some research, we settled on the Starline full day tour which encompasses their three main tour routes, Hollywood, Santa Monica Pier, and the Griffith Park Observatory. Doing all three was very reasonably priced considering the amount of time and the area covered, not to mention the hassle of parking at some venues. Our guide, Ross, was knowledgeable and friendly. He also answered all of my silly questions. There were some major disappointments that had nothing to do with our guide. The tour bus was not only dated, but marginally roadworthy, with the check engine light on and the TPMS warning illuminated. This was a 13 passenger van with the roof cut away. Seat pitch was similar to a budget airline seat. My 5'3" wife was not able to sit comfortably due to the narrow seat spacing. There were also no cup holders, or space allocated for purchases or camera equipment. Ingress and egress was an adventure. The floor level was two very narrow steps (maybe 3" wide) down to curb height or two short narrow steps and one big step to street level. I felt lucky and deserving of an award each time I made it out without breaking any bones. There was a 18" to 2 foot wide panel to protect the passengers from the sun, although it often only shaded part of the middle seat passengers. Each seat had a seat belt, but my second row passenger side seat belt kept tightening and locking, so I ultimately couldn't use it. The PA system worked perfectly. The guide was easily heard and understandable. He also was able to speak enough Spanish to help the members of the tour that spoke limited English. The bus rode smoothly over some rough roads. Due to local ordinances some parking locations required a bit of walking to get to the ultimate destination, for example Rodeo Drive and the pier were both required pretty long walks. I doubt any other tour company operating legitimately would be able to do much better. There were plenty of great views and perfectly timed stop overs to allow some exploration. I never felt rushed or bored. Clear timing expectations were given and I think they were well thought out based on their experience. So do I recommend this company- that is the real question. I wish they would get better buses. That would make it a no brainer. With the current equipment I would probably stick with the Griffith Observatory portion of the tour only since parking there is either crazy expensive or impossible to find. With a newer more spacious mini-bus with cup holders, package accommodations, working seat belts, and legally required vehicle maintenance I would definitely take the full day tour.
