You can create memorable moments, scenic photographs, and smiles if you book this hike. As an avid hiker that typically uses intuition or a compass, it was refreshing to have a guide. The main reason is that hiking restrictions are constantly changing with access to the sign. When you book a tour, you learn more and get more for the price.  Essentially, priceless. We went on a Tuesday, slightly overcast and max temp. was 73°. There was a group of 16. Athleticism ranged from avid hikers to couch potatoes.  Even those that never walked a block, were able to make it to the iconic sign. No bathrooms. Not even at local gas stations. You'll have to hold it or release it in nature. I would recommend this trip for ages 9+.  Perhaps these tips may convince you to book it! 1. Sarah, the guide, is vivacious, high energy, humorous, and passionate with history. Tipping is good karma. My 11 year-old was so impressed with Sarah's presentation that she commented, "Sarah is very personable. That's a nice quality in a woman." Go figure. 2. Best time to go is overcast day. Photos are still beautiful. If it's sunny, it will be hot and uncomfortable and for some unbearable.  3. Views, vistas, photo ops, scenic, angles, IG friendly and picturesque moments.  4. If you live in San Diego or Santa Barbara this would be a freakin' cool day trip adventure. 5. Totally recommended for bachelor/bachelorette activity (take tequila for a toast at the top). Memorable for couples, families, mature couples or date one or date 100. 6. Booking, email communication and reminders was professional and timely. Overall experience was okay. We originally booked the 3 hour Beverly Hills guided tour but we got a text the night before after closing hours to let us know that they had an emergency and had to cancel our guided tour. They gave us two options: 1. We book for the day after so a Monday OR, 2. We do a four hour self-guided tour We weren't given the option to get a full refund. I'm not entirely familiar with the area since I'm from the Bay Area which is why I intentionally booked a guided tour with a specialist. We couldn't call them to ask for other options and they opened at 10am which was the time we were suppose to show up in person for our tour. We were only visiting a few days and that was our last day. I was upset because they didn't have any empathy at all and Chris was trying really hard to make a good experience for us and it came off as dishonest. There were multiple workers and not ONE person in there to tour so we felt they didn't want to just give three people a tour so instead they gave us an excuse that there was an "emergency cancellation" so our tour guide didn't show up -___- They texted us a link to follow along but it was glitchy on all our phones and the description cut off so we couldn't actually read everything about the locations we stopped at. It's a total rip off btw!! You're paying $70+ to essentially rent out a non electric bike which you can buy a used but great condition bike for that price and look up stops for free on Google. Having a guided tour guide would've been ideal since that's what we all paid for. We had a good time because of our own company and we had to look up our own facts for those stops so it ideally was a waste of money to go through them. Advice, rent your own bikes for $20-$30 and look up free guide locations if you plan on doing it yourself since it's pretty much what we did. P.S. if you read reviews on Yelp and Google it looks like they like to have "emergency cancellations" A LOT and not refund the customers. Is this company a potential scam? Perhaps if they keep doing this. read more

We did the 13 mile bike ride around West Hollywood and Beverly Hills. We took many breaks to hear Hollywood stories. There were many hills. We decided to be lazy and upgrade to the e-bike. People in their 50s were able to bike the hills on regular bikes. We had no bathroom break on the 3 hour trip. I assume if someone would have requested a stop, Erik (our guide) would have made it possible. Bring your own water. It was a fun tour and bikes are top quality Giants. Free parking in their lot. Our guide was born and raised in LA and had good stories. read more

My friend and I took a hike to the Hollywood sign. Overall the hike was really great! We were led to a great spot for photos with the sign, given plenty of time to take photos and our guide shared great history and information about the sign during the hike. Parking was easy and felt safe to leave our vehicle while hiking. There is limited shade during the hike, and no bathrooms available. The only downside to the hike, is the guide really pushed for tips "as the main source of income in this business". It made things a little uncomfortable and awkward. read more

I had Chris as a tour guide, and he was the best tour guide I have ever had. He told creative stories that were historically backed, I loved how he was a cinema buff, and he took into account my interested (cough, Taylor Swift). I even got to see the house she (almost) filmed on! Chris was knowledgeable and accommodated the abundance of photos we wanted to take (he was our personal photographer). Erick was on it from the start, there was some type of miscommunication between the Viator and Bikes and Hikes and he was able to resolve the issue quickly so that we could start our tour on time. Erick led a group of us effortlessly up the hill and shared a lot of knowledge of Colonel Griffith and the history of the Hollywood sign and the park overall. I was advised to be there on time ( 9:00 am ), I made it there at 8:30 and at 9:00 there comes a guy that looked like a guide and I asked him if he was with Bikes and Hikes and he said yes, but my name and my dad's were not on his list and he said that our guide is running a bit late because he was with another group. ( I don't know what the other group that was since there are only 2 tours offered per day @9:00 and @ 11:00) When I called them at some point during the hike to get some directions and make sure we were safe going up by ourselves, it was suggested I was lying about a guide from Bikes and Hikes being there on that day as they weren't doing any tours on that day. 9:15 and no one showed up, so we decided to catch up with him and the small family of 3. But they were way ahead of us and we followed the trail by ourselves. They canceled the tour at 10:40 AM !! by sending me a text message saying that the guide had an emergency and if I was interested in taking the tour the next day, which I couldn't as I had other booked activities. When I contacted them again to rebook another activity that they offer, they ignored my text messages and also on social media messaging system. I would not recommend them to anyone. We went on the hike with Emily to Griffith Observatory. We can't recommend her enough. She was super funny and super informative. She engaged with everyone and made us connect within the group really well. The hike itself was beautiful. She gave us plenty of opportunities to take pictures and was super willing to take pictures of us, and great ones too! I highly recommend doing the 3:00 tour because you can catch the sunset at Griffith Observatory. Definitely do this tour! And choose Emily if you can! read more

Very nice and helpful staff. there were randomly bikes to rent along the route but this one I could order the night before , keep for a day and roughly the same price. My friend and I did this 10mile bike tour and we're thrilled with how much we learned about West Hollywood, Beverly Hills and LA in general. It is listed as a celebrity homes tour but really it gives you fun facts about not only legends in music, fashion and Hollywood, but of the city itself. I was initially a little concerned not being an avid bike rider that the trek might be too strenuous. But with the $25 power bike upgrade there was nothing to worry about. My friend opted to stay with the regular 6 speed bike and powered through the uphill climbs and seemed to be totally fine with it as a non-biking amateur too though. So I'd say upgrade to the electric bike if you want more of a leisurely ride and the assurance of having back up power otherwise you should be fine exercising you way through the tour too. What made this tour so fun though was really our guide-Erik. He had so much positive energy, humor and fun tales to tell that he kept it all very entertaining!! He was also easygoing and flexible enough to let us stop at cool points of interest that we found interesting like the BH art mural and the rainbow walkway in WEHO. I highly recommend taking this tour. I promise, it will be such a memorable and scenic way to spend the day! read more

We were a party of one adult and two children who were on holidays from Australia. We prepaid our tour for A$923 prior to our arrival. On arrival for the tour the operator advised that my son was slightly to short and would cancel our session due to safety. Again THIS WAS CANCELLED FOR SAFETY REASONS BY THE OPERATOR. The tour operator is now REFUSING to provide a full refund. Completely UNPROFESSIONAL AND SIMPLY NOT THE RIGHT WAY TO TREAT CUSTOMERS. We recently did the Sunset Hike and LA in a Day Bike Tour! My booty made me sore but I came back from vacation weighing less than when I left! We started off our vacation with the Sunset Hike in Griffith Park with Chase. It was a great hike, but we did closer to 6 miles on the tour. Chase was very knowledgeable, fun and attentive. He could tell when the group needed a break or photo opportunity and did a great job to accommodate all of us. Later in our trip we did the LA in a Day Bike Tour with DW and David. David was only in training but both were great!! 32 miles on bike is not a joke. It's a LONG ride, but so worth it to see every little part of town. The second half of the ride was much easier than the first half, but you make it ALL over LA. You'll stop for lunch in Venice beach for a wrap, smoothie and people watching. Disclaimer: both the Hike and Bike are active tours. Be ready to get the heart rate up. Both tours take the hardest part out in the first half. The Hike starts with a pretty serious incline. The Bike starts with very serious hills in Beverly Hills. Be ready!!! Like other reviewers mentioned - both the Bike and Hike took longer than advertised. I mention this because it could mess up evening dinner plans. They should probably think about updating the times to include an extra hour since each tour ended an hour later than anticipated. This bike tour was PHENOMENAL!! I can't say enough...I choose the standard bike because I'm always up for a challenge but it was totally doable. However, having the electric option was great to have. My wife and I, on a sporadic whim, chose to go on a bike tour given that we have lived in Los Angeles for 9 years and haven't really done much by way of tourism. We paid to upgrade to the Electric Bikes which was a great idea. The bikes were made by Giant and were very efficient and had good power. Our guide Taylor was very knowledgeable, accommodating, and had a very good speaking tour guide voice! It's amazing how you can live in L.A. for so long, travel in and out of areas such as Beverly Hills, and W. Hollywood and still be amazed at the surrounding scenery and the vastness of all it has to offer. I think a Bike Tour is the best way to see the sites.
