The Holm Drywall team was excellent, always on time and worked diligently through the day(s). Each person took great pride in their work and we noticed that all of them would spend time carefully checking details with light and each other. Drywall is messy - but these teams always cleaned up and made efforts to keep the mess contained and at a minimum. Communication was excellent and set expectations every day. Team was always on time and management followed up on a regular basis. We had another drywall person do a section of the house and they did a horrible job - the Holm team came in and fixed it and corrected the issues. We have built multiple homes and drywall is always an art that is challenging to find the right team - really happy to report that Holm Drywall is THE Drywall Team!! Thanks to Ben and all of his team that worked on my new home. We elected for a smooth finish texture which I know is the most difficult. Their workmanship was superb! Even my meticulous, hard to please painter was happy with the wall surfaces. We have vaulted ceilings with lots of redwood trusses and exposed beam framing. Ben used special tear-away reglet at all the plaster to wood interfaces that resulted in a super clean junction line that won't be a problem as inevitable wood movement happens. They were efficient and reliable as to scheduling as well. Ben was always available and responsive to questions. Ben (John's Son) Did my job... We have remodeled a bunch of houses so I am no stranger to dealing with Contractors. My experience with Ben (and Holm Drywall) was one of the best experiences with any contractor I have had. I think it helps that the owners are intimately involved in the work and they are talented at what they do. They did a great job. Were on budget and on time, Worked around our life (we were living in the house while the work was being done) and they left the house cleaner than when they arrived! The painter that came in afterwards, said the quality of the work was some of the best he has ever seen (especialy transitions from existing drywall texture to the new texture). Nothing more to say other than if you live anywhere within reach of Santa Cruz (even over the hill - I know they work over there), you owe it to yourself to meet these guys. If their bid is anywhere close, seriously consider using them. You will not be disappointed. read more

We had drywall repair and replacement, and texturing done on a bathroom wall and the living room ceiling to fix water leak damage. Steve Messina was prompt and completed replacement and repair of the drywall and texturing. When my husband and I felt that the ceiling needed some more texturing, Steve promptly and cheerfully responded. We scheduled an appointment that was convenient for us, and Steve and another worker also named Steve quickly and expertly retextured the ceiling. Ben Holm of Holm Drywall is such a professional and good person. We have used him 3 times so we highly recommend Ben and his team. He did our new bathroom a few years back. He came recommended at the time and was great. Then when we redid our kitchen this past year, he came back at the last minute after we got a bad feeling about the drywall team our kitchen contractor recommended. Ben was in and down within 3 days as we needed it in a hurry. Recently we hired him again for our living room and downstairs to make the rest of our house match the "Old World" finish of the newer areas. We've built and/or remodeled several homes, but are new to the Santa Cruz area and don't have a Rolodex of trusted subs. Upon recommendation of our very particular neighbor who had just completed a whole house remodel, we contacted Holm Drywall to obtain an estimate for two guest bathrooms we are in the midst of remodeling and received a reply the very same day. During our initial meeting, Ben (Holm) was attentive, friendly, extremely professional and offered several options regarding texture that I hadn't even considered. To complicate matters, my husband had already hung the actual drywall boards and Ben was VERY gracious about the DYI handiwork, offering to properly sink many of the screws that needed it. We knew we were in good hands! Ben sent Juan to complete the job and apply texture and Juan was a direct reflection of Ben's professionalism. He was a joy to have in the house and did a beautiful job on a lovely and subtle Old World texture (and he left the work area super clean each day he worked).
