I hired them to assist me with a child custody issue. They were super responsive in the beginning. I even overlooked that they charge me for some other client's services by mistake. I canceled my services in May 2022 and they have yet to issue me a refund. I contacted them last month to enquire why I had not received my refund. I was informed that a check would be sent out. It's been 3 weeks and no check has shown up. I emailed Ariel twice this week and I have not received a single reply back. I have now filed a complaint with the BBB to get my $3200 back. This is not the law firm you want representing you. Mr. Holstrom doesn't care about his clients. What he does care about is the money his clients pay him and that's it. My divorce case was a nightmare. There were many mistakes made by my attorney, Mr. Bogosian. (Mr. Bogosian is no longer with the firm.) I have asked Mr. Holstrom if we could meet and discuss my divorce case, but he declined. I have reached out to "The State Bar of California" and requested a "fee arbitration" because Mr. Holstrom will not meet with me. I spent close to $300,000 dollars with his firm and he can't take 15 minutes out of his day to sit down with me regarding my case. After speaking with "The State Bar of California", I was told that the retainer I paid was high and when they found out that he included the cost of his private jet in the contract I signed the person I spoke with was shocked. My divorce case was in Placer County in Northern California. There are cheaper ways to get to Northern California, Southwest, Jet Blue, etc. Just last week, I ask Tammy in accounts receivables to send me the travel expenses for Mr. Bogosian and Mr. Holstrom responded telling Tammy not to send me anything. Divorce is already an emotional, costly proposition. I could not recommend this firm unless you are amenable to poor communication and poor customer service. I have retained this firm since 2016 and have had my cases handed from one associate to another with little or no advanced warning. Consistent last-minute notification of filings and discovery are the norm. It's fair to say if Mr Holstrom not personally handled my case the first time with a satisfactory outcome I would not have gone back to them the second time. If you have money that you don't mind throwing away and receiving ZERO results.... use this firm. HB&P represent me in a custody case, in less than a year with billings over $55k they managed to accomplish nothing. Actually, they managed to put me in a much worse position with my case. We went to court twice, once with no resolve and a continuance. The following time my lawyer didn't even open her mouth to bring forth our evidence, which we discussed in the hall prior to entering the courtroom. I provided evidence of the opposing party lying about her work status and income, she admitted to taking state income as well. To no avail, I was hit with a massive increase in child support. My Ex had fabricated a wonderful illusion that I was a drunk, so with no supporting evidence she got the judge to order testing. Fine, it was supposed to be for a year. That year finished, no issues, go to court and get slapped with another year. My lawyer just sat there saying nothing. I brought all the testing data as evidence. HB&P was going to work on increasing my time with my son, they never even brought it to the table! I tried appealing to the managing partner, expressing my dissatisfaction, the insane monthly billings with no results. He was less than cordial with no explanation for the extreme cost and firms lack of accomplishment. To add insult to injury, the opposing lawyer and client violated CA bar standards, blatantly I might add. I couldn't be more pleased that they talked my ex in not taking half yet had her settle for much less than that.(You would have thought they were representing me. This is not to mention the 200k (attorney fees), they were seeking from the court who told them NO attorney fees due to all the shenanigans they pulled including a bogus tro that expires soon after the judgement was issued. Yes they received over 200K in atty. fees from my ex and got there butts handed to them for all their lies and delays. I unequivocally recommend Matt Bogosian, Family Law attorney. I hired Matt upon recommendation of a friend after 6 months of expensive, yet no progress, work from another firm. Matt is a certified family law specialist with over 20 years of experience, published, and a senior trial lawyer for a very reputable firm in Newport Beach, all reasons contributing to why I hired him. During our initial interview Matt explained his plans, my options and was upfront with what I was up against in terms of concessions I might need to make. That was a tough conversation because I could not believe how inefficient and "unfair" the entire court process had been for me up to that point. Add in the fact that the opposing counsel's communications were always threatening, unprofessional and consistently inaccurate. Their strategy of, "threaten, threaten and she will settle", never wavered. Matt bifurcated my divorce quickly saving me money in taxes and shortly thereafter eliminated the alimony I was paying. My ex-husband continued to make unwarranted settlement demands to the point I unfortunately had to go to trial to protect my assets. This was one of the most crucial points in the entire divorce proceedings and where without the expertise and incredible attention to detail by Matt, I could have easily lost a substantial portion of personal assets. The process was expensive however Matt consistently assessed my liabilities and made recommendations throughout for me to weigh against the unknown of a court judgement. I greatly appreciated that Matt routinely offered settlement options for my consideration vs cost of litigation that in effect, would have lessened his overall attorney fees. The opposing counsel made no effort to settle driving up my ex-husband's fees far past what my earlier offers would have yielded him. I would not wish this situation upon anyone and clearly we do not choose to be in this spot but Matt was the right attorney to handle a highly contentious divorce. In the end, the Court awarded less than 20 percent of what opposing counsel demanded in settlement! read more
