The nicest people, amazing BBQ chicken and biscuits, great value for the money. I have no idea how they make the BBQ sauce that is on the chicken, but it is both sweet and tangy, with occasional pieces of black pepper. So last week we went to Holt Bros in Florence, sc. The first two vists was fine, BUT this visit was not good at all. My husbands pulled brisket sandwich was so nasty, he didn't finish it. The meat looked like it was left out to dry and not much of it!! My tater tots were a disappointment as well. Oily and soggy. The first two visits they were crispy and delicious. For me consistency is the secret to a good business. When we complained to a server she said, What do you want me to do, he ate most of it!!! We were not out to get anything for free, just to point out how awful it was! We will not be going back!!! read more

Holts is pretty good place to eat. The food there is nothing great but the staff there are always very friendly.

Good food and cool atmosphere. This place is always busy. Restaurant and Bar, but family friendly. Has outside seating with picnic tables-pretty spiffy. I always get the brisket sandwich- the Beefeater. The honey sauce is divine. And don't forget to get you some Banana Pudding! read more

Great energy and even better food. A really fun place to eat that knows how to deliver. Strong customer service, staff everywhere making sure everyone is taken care of. Guy with the beard behind the counter didn't make the experience any better with his salty attitude after I had to wait in a line out the door for 1 star BBQ. Like a guy previously said, you can get better bbq at Dickey's and that's sad. These locals giving this place 4-5 stars don't know what good BBQ is. These guys better stick with their burger joints. This is the place I always go when business takes me to Florence. So far everything I have tried from the BBQ'd anything to the fish tacos have been terrific. One lunch I was up for dessert and had a cinnamon roll the size of my head LOL (wish I had taken a picture of that!) It had to go home in a box to share with family. It's no secret I go there either as I now have a collection of Holt Bros BBQ cups with lids in my cup cupboard (great for visiting kids drinks). I cannot recommend this place more highly. read more

I would give this restaurant higher Stars because the food is excellent however the service is horrible. Was with a friend tonight ordered our food went to the table my friend got his food in a matter of minutes but mine never come out. After about 15 minutes I went up to the manager and asked where my food was and told him I've been sitting there for 15 minutes, he looked at my receipt and told me no I hadn't when in reality I've been in the restaurant for over 30. our waitress never once came by to see how we were doing and when I asked her to check on my food several times she just came back and started waiting on other people never came back to me to let me know what was going on. Management and wait staff needs to have some training on how to work with customers. read more

Traveling wanted BBQ on the 4th of July. Stopped in had the beef brisket platter with sides. The baked beans were super delicious, the greens weren't seasoned at all and they were served cold. The sweet tea was BEST tea I'd ever had. I would recommend this place as a last minute trip. read more

went to Holt Bros yesterday for first time. Had the Holt Bros burger that comes with pork bbq, sausage, beef brisket and onion ring. Huge serving and all very good. Fired pickles were great as was the slaw. they have 5 bbq sauces and all i tried were very good. nice friendly, efficient service. arrived there at 5.20. By 6pm it was packed, even the outside seating. reasonable price, pleasant decor. they take orders at counter and then deliver to your table. one unusual thing was that their credit card slip doesn't have a tip line!! left tip at table but not the usual pressure to tip. read more

I live in Columbia and travel frequently to Myrtle Beach for my job. I stopped by the Florence location on the way and had the absolute best BBQ and Mac & Cheese I have ever had and I am somewhat of a snob when it comes to BBQ. Not bad. Would love to taste the BBQ without it being tossed in sauce. Since I moved from NC to SC I have found that's just a thing here (and sugar on lima beans). Sides are good and the tea won't punch you in the mouth with sugar. read more

Brisket is really dry. Have had a lot better brisket at other local restaurants in the area.

John, Zach and the Holt family have done an awesome job with the old Drive in. Inside the decor is awesome because it mirrors the food-awesome! BBQ - great BBQ that is - is cooked in a rustic environment and that is the feeling upon entering. The tacos and pulled pork sandwiches are excellent. Prices are great, staff are excellent and if you are lucky enough to have a conversation with the Pitmasters - John and Zach- the visit is that much better! Look out Rodney Scott with Scott's BBQ-there are some new Pitmasters in the area. I look forward to telling about and taking others to Holt Bros to eat. read more
