Wow - I am pretty surprised at the reviews I am reading here.... I have 2 children (girls) who…read moreattend this school, and who have for the entirety of their school experience. The teachers and administrators on so many occasions showed not only great teaching but also so much compassion and that they truly care about our family. One of our daughters had a very intense surgery while in grade 8 - the school was amazing both during her home recovery and as she slowly made her way back to school. Our other daughter has some specialized learning challenges and the school worked hard on identifying it, working with her emotions / confidence around it, and being really supportive. Teachers are available EVERY day for after school instruction and answering of questions - when there are quizzes / tests results are emailed to the parents so we can discuss with both the kids and teachers - what went wrong, strategies for improvement.... The school is not perfect - nothing is. There is a small gym and no library - we felt if we were going to send our kids there then we needed to make sure they had other opportunities for physical exercise / teamwork. Dance class, kickboxing, yoga - these are some of the things we have done outside of school. Even so, when the kids were interested, teachers stepped up and there have been soccer, badminton and volleyball teams that our girls have participated in and played in tournaments against other schools. Our kids were also involved in Cadets for a while to have chances to meet other kids (downside of small classes). So parents - if you choose to send your kids to a small school with small classes you may have to do some work in helping them foster friendships outside of school..... Bottom line - this is a great school with a location close to downtown that is really convenient for anyone commuting into downtown every day. There is a real community here. There are a core group of teachers / administrators who have been with the school a long time - has every teacher been perfect - no - but the administration has been quick to make changes when necessary. As a family we feel cared for, safe and supported - our kids have as much help as they ask for (teenagers you know) and we know if there are any emotional / social issues they are brought to our attention right away. We are very happy with our choice to send our girls to DWA and know we have given them a leg up for their future.

Although I have not attended the school personally, my brother did and had a wonderful experience…read more He really thrived and blossomed there. Small class sizes, individual attention, instructors who care, all that was missing from my public school experience. Do your child a favor by not only considering DeltaWest, but enrolling them.

Hi, former graduate here! I thought that I should add my two cents to this yelp page…read more MVA was an amazing place to learn and connect. I attended from grade 2 - 12 and enjoyed every minute of it. The academic integrity of this school is above any other that I know of, and the teachers are incredibly passionate about their jobs. I wasn't a role model student, I needed a little bit more help than some, but the teachers would always put in the extra time to help me and to make sure that I understood the material. My colleagues that left MVA for another high school have often told me that the switch wasn't worth it because they were receiving a lower grade of education in trade of a bigger school with my more kids. If it weren't for the extra care and attention I received while I was attending school, I would likely not be studying for my B.Sc Psyc at UVic today. MVA helped build a solid foundation for my education, and as a result have opened many doors for me that may not have been available otherwise. Though I am bias in my opinion, obviously, it is only because I did go to the school for over a decade; I experienced first hand the quality and care that all the teachers (including the administration, as they often switch between teaching and managing) give to their students. If I could go back in time and choose differently, I wouldn't. I love this school, and if I have children in the future, MVA is my first choice. 5/5 - Would attend again

I graduated from Mountain View in 2008. As a former graduate, I must say MVA is one of the best…read moreschools in Calgary. As an ESL student, I often needed extra help from the teachers due to my English level at the time, the teachers always stayed after school to assist me to go over the materials I needed help with. Because the class size was relatively small compared to public high schools, the teachers were able to ensure each one of their students was getting the best education they deserved. As an international student who came to Canada alone, I needed help not only with school but also with things in life in Calgary, i.e. finding a homestay family to stay with, extending my study permit and having someone there for me to talk to when I needed. I couldn't thank Mrs. P and Mrs S enough for all they've done for me throughout my journey here. They've gone above and beyond for what their responsibilities were as my high school principals. They took care of me like I was one of their children. My parents to this day still talk about them and thank them for taking such a good care of me. As cheesy as it may sound, MVA to me was not only my high school, but also my home. The help I received from MVA did not stop after I graduated from the school. After I graduated from MVA, I was accepted to University of Calgary. I was able to come back to school and asked the teachers to help me to go over my papers when I needed help. I graduated from the university 4 years later, and have been working for an oil and gas company since. Without the education and the help I received from MVA, I wouldn't be where I am today. Yelp only allows me to give 5 stars, I give MVA 1,000,000 stars!!
