Our kids have been at SPX for 4 years now and plan to continue a few more years through 8th grade. The school has been fantastic for the kids and the family. They have great educators and administrators and strong ties with the church and parish community. They have a new and growing early child development center daycare that looks great. I've heard nothing but good things though my kids did not participate in that. CYO (archdiocese sports league mainly for elementary age kids) is very popular and is very active with lots of great volunteer coaches. It's open to all the community. Our kids loved CYO when they were in elementary and it really helped build community with kids and parents. The gym is top notch as is the softball / soccer field. The school has a lot of electives and activities for the kids to get involved in including but not limited to: art projects, plays, mathletes, RISE, STEM, piano recitals, volunteer opportunities, market day projects, altar serving, stations of the cross, adoration, reconciliation, school Halloween carnival, parish festival, field trips, tours of high schools, athletics, school dances, etc. The PTC does a lot of great things for the teachers and kids through fundraisers (Gala, spirit night, shirt sales, dances, etc.) The Watch DOGS program is active where dads, grandpas, uncles, etc. come and help in classrooms, at lunch, and help make the school day fun and safe. The kids love their teachers and classmates and we couldn't be happier.

The teacher doesn't seem to tolerate my child and speak the truth what's going on behind closed doors, just portray him as a problem when I as a parent took it upon myself to reach out to the office and principal and counselor and receive no help other than him getting negative notes in his folder and all of a sudden, now he's being sent to the office because I mentioned if he was a problem, why hasn't anybody said anything to the front office? I withdrew my child from the school. I have no faith just because they have a cross sitting outside the building do not trust smiley faces. I am disappointed in these adults who are also a grandparents could not help a child of God because they want to keep their image I suppose when we're all supposed to be a community and that picking and choosing who to support and ignore. However, when I learned they were closing, I began a frantic search for a new school that offered the same diligent and thoughtful Montessori curriculum my children had been experiencing. I also wanted a program with a rich Spanish language curriculum to support my trilingual children. I'm so thrilled to say that these past two months at MKU Shavano have felt like a self-fulfilling prophecy come true. My children love going to school and come home each day sharing their newfound love for literature and the arts. Their bond with their teachers runs deep - it warms my heart when they talk excitedly about what they learned while we eat dinner together. The front office staff is my daily dose of positivity each morning as I drop them off. Both of my girls have been there for over two years, and not a single day has gone by that I was worried about their safety or general well-being. The staff is extremely attentive, and they know every student by name. Additionally, the Spanish immersion PLUS Montessori is a game changer; learning life skills and another language from such a young age has had a positive impact on their overall growth and development. Bad investment. High drop-out rates and low-quality teaching…read more As a graduate of Providence, I can speak from experience to the lack of professionalism and opportunity at this institution. From freshman year to graduation, my academic cohort experienced a 50% drop-out rate. In respect to the young ladies who did enter college / university upon HS graduation, many later dropped out of their advanced studies. In regards to daily life at Providence, teachers were often disengaged and money was not invested properly in education. For example, our science classes oftentimes used equipment from the 1990s and our lab experiments were rationed due to lack of supplies. Furthermore, prosperous fields of study such as science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) were not encouraged. As one teacher pointed out to our class, "It is better to learn how to clean the classroom to become a proper housewife than to spend the school's financial resources on science / math equipment as young girls do not need to excel in these subjects." To make matters worse, during my time at Providence, there was a firing of staff due to alleged money laundering. I kindly recommend parents to research other institutions.
