OMG what an amazing Center! We have been here for about 6 months and I can't begin to explain how far my child has improved in speech, motor skills and more than anything Social! She is 4 and the classroom she is in has gone above and beyond. They do daily work sheets around the curriculum and see how much has improved so quickly is honestly amazing. The areas they transition they go are they.. indoor, gym, theater, computer room. It's just amazing how much they do and constantly learning and making sure they are still a kid and play. I do honestly think they are one of the best in this area. We toured other school and found some very concerning things that were not ok. Please take a tour! Love how welcoming the front office staff was as you entered the center, they were very helpful and professional, offered to give me a tour of the center and once I did that I was absolutely impressed. The young lady took me around explained the curriculum and mentioned that the center was TRS accredited which was amazing!!! Talked about digital daily reports that go out once the child is checked out for the day. Also a plus was the 1950's style soda shop, large indoor playground and much much more.... they also have a curriculum coordinator on site and she helps train and supervise the teachers how amazing is that, just to know my child won't just be sitting in a class all day is top tier for me! I enrolled my 4 year old child in County Home this past January after moving her from another local daycare facility. The difference in care was remarkable with the amount of educational engagement. Country Home Learning Center taught them how to write the alphabet, numbers, addition, and subtraction, but still kept everything fun. My daughter just started kindergarten and her level of knowledge, because of Country Home, has set her up for success. My kiddo scored in the 89th percentile in her recent nation wide math exam thanks to Ms. Shirley and Ms. Megan and all their hard work!! read more

Our kiddos have attended Country Home since 2018, and we've been impressed by the transparency and love that our children have been treated with. Over the years concerns we've had have been taken seriously and handled quickly, but there have not been many. We've been able to build great relationships with most of their teachers. My baby practically runs to the door each morning, and comes out in the afternoons excited, happy, and worn out from playing and learning. The facilities are well kept, and the staff take great pride in decorating the halls and rooms to make it bright and welcoming. The staff rotates toys often, and most everything is in pristine condition. They have a cleaning system that was put in place prior to COVID, and have always been diligent about hygiene and protecting students from illness. read more

My child was at CH for a few months. We were kind of in a rush to get him enrolled full time and this location was convenient for work and home. This is my personal experience and opinion. I encourage all parents to walk in and see for yourself. As soon as you walk in you can smell the old or dirty building. Front desk areas are stacked with papers and it's highly disorganized. Our paperwork kept on getting lost when we initially enrolled. That area definitely needs leadership and organization. We went to pick up a packet and we're given someone's resume. The front desk staff is very friendly and respectful. They do a great job communicating with parents. I think sometimes they have the hard job of informing parents of incidents and get the crappy responses from parents. The bread and butter: The classrooms are packed. This place took the state maximum students allowed and rolled with it. Teachers are underpaid and overworked. My son had to go through multiple teachers because they kept leaving. I'd walk in and see kids on the tables, kids faces full of dry snot, kids climbing on top of the stack of cots. They ask for bibs in the initial packet for students and never used it once. They don't have uniforms for toddlers so they just stay dirty all day. I've picked up my son multiple times and his face was just dirty from his hands being dirty and rubbing them on his face. He was bitten several times and it wasn't reported because the teachers didn't see it. He came home one time with a bruised fingernail and when I asked the teachers they said he smashed it in a drawer and forgot to say something. I had to check my sons diaper every time he got home because they weren't cleaning his backside very well and he was chafing. They had a good set of teachers who were potty training my son and because they left, the potty training stopped because the new teachers couldn't keep up with the demands. They claim that the teachers clean every toy every day, by hand after use but if you walk in, you will know and see how unrealistic that is. They have very poor classroom management and there just aren't enough teachers for the number of kids in each class. My recommendation to any parent considering taking your child here is to do the walk through tour. Take a look for yourself. Not just your kids classroom, ask to walk through the whole building, look at the quality of the other classrooms and how miserable the kids and teachers look. It smells. Ask to see the kids bathrooms, they are gross. Look at the drinking fountains and sinks. Look at how many kids are in each class and really think about how much attention your child will get. Daycare should be a place where they learn to socialize and they teach basic developmental knowledge. This place is just glorified babysitters. I hated my son being there but it was the only option we had for the time being. I wouldn't recommend any parent taking your child there unless it's out of desperation and necessity. If you really really need a daycare and have no other options, this place works. If you really care about the quality of care your child is receiving, find a Montessori or better quality daycare and get on their waitlist and get your child out of there as soon as possible. read more

My son attended here for two and a half years before he started public school and I have to say, this has been a blessing. He absolutely loved coming here and playing with his friends. His favorite part was the splash pad and the froggy pool. He loves the water and was so happy to be able to participate in the water activities. We have 2 children, a son and a daughter that we had enrolled in the Country Home program. My wife and I found the Learning center to be an enriching experience and our children liked going to this school. A lot of care and personal attention was evident from the teachers and staff. My daughter enjoyed the field trip to Adventure Quest in Boerne to ride the pony's. Educational learning times and field trips equaled a fun-filled day at Country Home Learning Center. Takes several layers of employees and time off from work to get resolution. There is no privacy to handle your dispute. You're communicating in front of all the parents coming and going. I can't keep quiet about this anymore. I put my daughter in daycare at Country Home Learning Center off of 1604 and Shaenfield. She was there for 3 weeks. Why such a short time you might ask?? Because my husband James McKinney and I had to pull her out due to the fact that HER TEACHER GRABBED HER BY THE ARM ABD LEG AND FORCED HER DOWN because she wasn't tired for nap time. Our daughter has been in daycare for 2 years now at Kelly CDC. Only recently due to covid has it closed which is why we were forced to look elsewhere. In two years time our daughter NEVER, not once, came home today her teachers were mad at her much less touched her out of frustration. The second day she came home from daycare at Country Home she said her teacher got mad at her. My husband and I chalked it up to our kid getting frustrated about possibly not getting to play with something or another. However, she continued to say that her teacher gets mad at her day after day. Our daughter Loves her teachers. She has always been the kid in the class to cling to the teachers and hug them good bye so it was odd that she never wanted to talk about her teacher now. The last day we took her to Country Home Learning Center was the day she told her dad that her teacher got mad at her because she wasn't tired at nap time and she grabbed her arm and leg. This was completely unprompted. Ferrous but also somewhat skeptical my husband told me to ask our daughter about her day to see if the same thing would come up. It did. Hours later after she had been picked up the same story was told to me without things added, taken away, or exaggerated. That doesn't typically happen with an almost 4 year old if it's not the truth. The very next day I went to the school and asked to speak to the director Tammy. Instead of Tammy asking if I wanted to speak to the teacher she MADE EXCUSES for the teachers in that class! Saying that they are a bit more firm and not the "hugging type". She then fed me some crap about creaking some secret code with other teachers to let her know if something was going on. A few hours later I called to speak to the director of the facility again,Tammy, and she STILL HAD NOT TALKED TO THE TEACHER THAT GRABBED OUR KID! This complete lack of concern for our child and that of others is why we yanked our daughter out and why I need to share this with you now. You need to know who is watching over your kids and how little they care. We are the only advocates our children have. Over a month later and my daughter still tells me she is sorry she didn't go to sleep at nap time and that she made her teacher mad enough that she grabbed her and put her down. No child should ever have to feel afraid of their caregiver. We as parents need to speak up more. I got my child out before something worse happened. Based on the down play of the situation by the director it's obvious to me that she is aware that things like this go on in her facility and she DOES NOT CARE. Protect your kids! read more

What a great find!!!! We recently moved to the area and needed quality childcare for our three children. After searching the area and doing many pop-in visits we choose Country Home. We are so blessed that each of our children are loved and cared for so well. The after-school program keeps the kids busy and entertained, while keeping them separated by age group. Our two younger kids get friendly greetings in the morning, love and attention throughout the day, and the teachers are warm and friendly at pick up. One of our children requires a little extra love and attention and the amazing teachers in his class know him, live him, and praise him so that he can grow into a successful young man. So this is an update after my grandson was moved to a new class. This place is horrible! My grandson is 3y10mo and is in a class with kids that age. The children have little supervision from "teachers" who have no credentials or training. The other day he was put in a pull up because he had an accident. He has been potty trained since before he was 2 and since moving into this new class he has had 4.. You tell me something doesn't stink! Even worse than that, when they put him in a pull up they kept him in the bathroom alone and called him a baby until he put it on himself. This is borderline abuse and I will not tolerate it. I went in this morning to speak with one of the "Co-Directors" Theresa and she wouldn't speak with me because I wasn't the parent. My daughter actually works there and has tried for almost a month to get this issue addressed but it falls on deaf ears. The two teachers in question constantly tell us what a terror our grandson is, even though other teachers tell us he is great. Avoid this place at all costs. read more

My young two-year-old was enrolled a little over a month at the Leslie Road facility in San Antonio and she was miserable. Her first day, she was so excited to "go to school" and waved us out the door. Every day after that, she would cry and beg me not to leave. Trusting it was just separation anxiety, we kept returning, hoping she would adjust, but it got to where she started recognizing the route to the facility, and from her carseat she would begin her protest, imploring me, "No school?!" One morning I dropped her off and the children were on the side patio, playing with tubs of water. It just happens I had to park around that side of the building, and as I returned to my car, worrying about my unhappy daughter, I heard her crying and decided to peek through the fence to see how long it would take her to adjust and get into the swing of things. To my horror, what I witnessed were two teachers who, during the course of their lengthy conversation about cockroaches, repeatedly look down at her, seemingly unmoved by the fact she was sitting all alone up against the building, her fingers in anxious knots, her chin quivering in fear and sadness, her tear-filled eyes looking up at each of them, wondering if they would help her, but they never did. My daughter looked back into the dark classroom for me and when she saw it was empty she fell apart; her teachers still ignoring her, still talking about cockroaches as the other children played. I wanted to yell through the fence for them to help her, scoot her over to the water, give her a toy, comfort her, encourage her, tell her mommy would be back, but that it was time to play and have fun... Something, anything! But I remained silent for more than five minutes, watching and listening as they left her there to wrestle with her uncomfortableness, her fear, sadness, confusion, insecurity... And after a few more minutes, I decided I had seen enough and marched back in, telling the front desk that I was giving my two weeks notice and that I would be taking my daughter home, never to return! The relief on my child's face when I bent down to scoop her up out of that lonely and scary situation confirmed to me that I was doing the right thing, and the look on the teacher's faces also confirmed to me that I was doing the right thing. I asked them, "How long were you planning to leave her like that?!" They said nothing to me, staring at me as blankly as they had my sad child. The facility has a lot of bells and whistles, smoke and mirrors! But look at the teacher's faces in all the classrooms; there is no joy or passion for what they do. They, in my opinion, are good at managing the herd, but have no heart. I would never recommend this place after what I observed and experienced there. Further, the ventilation in the facility is not good as it almost always smelled like a dog kennel full of urine and soiled diapers mixed with disinfectant solution. The children should not have to smell that all day. And the write-ups they give at the end of the day are not trustworthy, as one teacher would tell me our daughter had a rough day, while the other teacher wrote and signed off on a great day! Which was it? I also observed a teacher speaking uncaringly toward a little boy whom I will call Tyler. She repeated, hardly a breath between her monotoned, orders; "Out of the bathroom Tyler! Out of the bathroom! Come out of the bathroom Tyler! Tyler, out of the bathroom!" When he finally came out, he was having trouble pulling his little shorts up. He had needed help. He wasn't horsing around. I would never want anyone speaking that way to my child. And I wondered, if she could speak this way while I was standing there, then how were these children spoken to when no parent was around? I am not a new mom, and I have seen what a good daycare can offer. This is not it. For new parents, I urge you to do your homework and don't be fooled by the fancy water parks and play equipment. Those things do not a healthy environment make! In addition: I must share that one of the administrators phoned me at home apologizing profusely for what happened, stressing that they would use this as a learning experience and take steps to correct some of the concerns I had raised. And they were kind enough to shred my tuition payment for that week, declaring my two weeks notice fulfilled. I do think that was the right thing to have done. I am worried, however, that our daughter will be afraid to try another center as I am sure this experience has left a not so good impression on her; Her joy and eagerness to "go to school" having been turned into fear and reluctance.
