My son has been here for almost a year and has had the greatest experience. He loves going to…read moreschool and is rarely sad when I drop him off in the morning. Every teacher he's had has been absolutely wonderful and communicates very well through the app, sharing activities and photos with us throughout the day. There is one child with a food allergy in the class and the director has been very careful with making sure no food comes into the school with those allergens (I was packing my son lunch for a little while before switching to their food program). They have special events around holidays for parents to come to class parties and participate. We just had a fun Easter "brunch" and egg hunt. It was so much fun to meet the other parents! I come to pick up my son earlier than most parents and have always been impressed by the care they show all the kids when parents aren't normally around. There's always enough teachers for the amount of kids in the class and they are miracle workers for actually getting the toddlers to take a nap at the same time! The kids get lots of outdoor play time on a wonderful playground. Babies go on walks and have a fenced in playground with age-appropriate toys. When the weather is bad, the kids get to play in the gym with fun indoor toys. We love the staff, the price, and the experience our child is getting here! Highly recommend St Matt's day school.

We had heard bad things about Hobby middle school so we decided to look into private. Disclosure - I am not catholic and honestly, the catholic teaching does nothing for me. It was not a factor in attending. I had heard that most of the teachers at St G had Masters degree so I expected a really great curriculum. I was badly disappointed when I saw the condition of the school supplies (books, etc) and the classrooms. All the desks and chairs are mismatched. Like they are hand me downs from other schools. We paid over $14,000 in tuition for what appears to be a school with less resources than a public school. One of my kids is failing the required Spanish course because they don't do an intro, it is grade level. So if you are in 7th grade and you never took Spanish before well good luck because you are learning it at 7th grade level now. We had to pay for a tutor to help because the after school tutoring they offer at St G is basically supervised homework session. When we asked the teacher about additional assistance she complained that she had too many students (16 students!). My kids will not be attending next year as we got accepted into a charter school. If your kids did not attend from early grades (k-2) they will not know the culture when they arrive and all of the parents and students are very clickish. I would not recommend this school. After 1 year of attendance we are moving on to a different school.

He took my children out of my home while I was at work without my permission. He took Joselyn Wilson with him. My kids were at her home without my permission. My kids both later told me they didn't wanna go with her without my permission, but she cohersed them. I have tried to reach out to talk to the lead pastor but not able to get an appointment. The leaders in the youth side OVERSTEP AND DO NOT RESPECT BOUNDARIES. They brainwashed my kids. Eucharia is a leader there also who said God told her that my kids were in danger. They take their job with them everywhere. They go thinking that they are CPS. I had to call the police to get my kids back. And then they accuse me of being a negligent parent and the cases were dropped. I have gone to Church for 45 years grew up in a Christian home with parents that have been married for 57 years and I have never had a bad experience in a church until now. I am so scared that the church is going to take my kids again from me. Why are adults texting and messaging my kids and not talking to me first?!! it is so weird and bizarre and now we are scared to go back to church. This is not ok.

My husband has been a Sunday school teacher for as long as we've been attending. The same Bible story is taught 6 different ways and the kids go through the rotation. Often I hear that the kids are the ones that bring the parents to church after attending Sunday school here. This Easter the church had the egg catapult as a unique way for kids to collect Easter eggs. Hot dogs and roasted corn were served for free. Recently the church had Kite day/Sunday funday where there were food and activities for kids including alpacas. There are Lifegroups that meet at people's home throughout the city to grow, have community and have Bible Study together. Ministries including prison, foster and adopt and human and sex trafficking. Local and global missions as well! Come check it out!

However, once in middle school, things drastically changed. If you have a perfect, we'll-behaved child that is organized, this school is perfect. However, the middle school teachers have a sense of entitlement and are not willing to work with parents. They never call parents to discuss anything positive about their child. They are very punitive and expect parents to not question anything. Teachers are supported by not only the principal, but the "so called" priest. We had a teacher refuse to meet with us about my child's misconduct and she was supported be the principal AND the "so called" priest". Wish I could go more into details because there is so much to say. We will finish out my son's 7th & 8th grade years not BECAUSE of the school, teachers, admin, or "so called" priest, but inspite of them.

I don't practice, I don't go unless it's for major events (Easter, Christmas, Weddings, and Funerals), and overall, it's... not my thing. But my parents are very devout practicing Catholics, and while I don't HAVE to, I bring them to mass at St. Matthew's when they are in town, and they absolutely love it. So, this review is on their behalf. Traffic and parking are well directed and managed, and they have many masses to choose from for you to attend. Their church bulletin in and of itself is a novel (according to Mom), and everyone is very polite, respectful, and serene. The church itself is beautiful, and everyone we've heard speak felt genuine. It's an excellent "church away from church" for my parents, and they are always excited to celebrate mass with the congregation at St. Matthew's.
