He was given the time and space to build relationships with staff and other students at his own pace, always supported but never rushed. Children at Clearwater learn what they are interested in, developing one of the most valuable lifelong skills--how to learn. Through observation and thoughtful discussions with students, staff, and family, my son has deepened his understanding of people, the world around him, and, most importantly, himself. In his two years at Clearwater, he has learned to navigate conflicts through the Justice Committee, advocate for his needs through the democratic process, and appreciate the significance of friendship, culture, and responsibility within a community. And along the way, he has also learned to read, perform arithmetic, estimate probability and statistics, and explore physics through hands-on construction. He loves drawing, music, and the logic of computer programming--all interests that have flourished in an environment where curiosity is nurtured. To say that my experience there was horrific would be putting it mildly. This school is based off of antiquated fundamentalist Christian ideals and the staff have no interest in teaching children about the true love of Christ. They focus so much attention on the legalities of Christianity, rather than focusing on Christ's grace and love for mankind. I was 11 years old when my parents decided to move me to this "school" and it was worst decision they could have ever made for me. I was placed in Laura Young's 5th grade class and she personally attacked and victimized me every chance she got, even though I was only a young child. I was shunned by other staff members, teachers and students alike simply because I liked girly things such as wearing lip gloss or nail polish. Teachers would tell students not to eat lunch with me because I was "too sinful" so I spent most of my time there alone. It was incredibly damaging to my self-esteem as a young child. As far as the education goes, sure, it was better than the average public school but a good education didn't make up for the horrific treatment that I experienced at the hands of the faculty and their offspring. Laura Young made our 5th grade class memorize the declaration of independence word for word. Let me tell you that as someone who now works at one of the largest corporations in the United States and makes well over six figures a year, memorizing the declaration of independence did absolutely nothing to aid me in my career (or in any part of my life for that matter). I have looked at the current faculty as of 2023 and I still see some of the same faces that I did when I was in attendance at this school. Those same teachers and administrators tormented me, all in the name of God. Word to the wise...if you value your child's wellbeing and spiritual health, stay very far away from this school. There are plenty of other Christian schools in the area that still offer a good education, without the extreme judgment and psychological abuse that your child will no doubt experience if enrolled in this utter pathetic excuse for a school.

Attending the school on-campus from the autumn of 2006 to the spring of 2008, I enjoyed the classes and variety of electives offered. My teachers were good to excellent and I enjoyed the campus design. It has since been remodeled into a multi-story structure. I took part on the swim team all four years, track and field one spring, and water polo two springs. Some of the dynamics between students in my classes and in sports came to be a bit tiring, so I decided to take part in the Washington State Running Start program full-time from the autumn of 2008 to the spring of 2010. This meant I took 100% of my classes at Shoreline Community College instead of the high school. It was a great was to transition to college coursework and attain my first college degree in conjunction with my high school diploma as the credits I earned counted for both.
