Excited to stop in when we saw the building. Thought it was going to be a quintessential Texas awesome restaurant but NOPE! Made it our lunch stop and so bummed. The BBQ was completely tasteless along with everything else!! BBQ sauce was unremarkable ( don't doubt it's a commercial brand). Asked if their green beans were made with bacon or spices and was told yes. NOPE! Straight out of the can. Yuck. My cousin got the fries with everything on top and his fries were COLD! As if they'd been sitting out for a few HOURS! Chicken fried steak was tasteless, too. A Texas restaurant that makes bad Chicken Fried Steak??? Sacrilegious!!! Such a shame because the name and building hooked us right away. Shoulda read the reviews!! Keep on looking for another place. This isn't worth your hard earned money. read more

Breakfast food was cheap and quick. This was our first time here. Excellent customer service. Waitress very friendly. The brisket was delicious. No smoke flavor though. The Potatoes were homemade. Cole slaw was sweet and Good. All the Food was hot and freshly prepared. Everything clean and smelled good. read more

We were pleasantly surprised by Holy Smoke BBQ! The Holy Smoke fries were my favorite - we practically licked the dish clean. Hubby got the bean dish with different meats and I got the enchiladas. Salsa is homemade and delicious. We were able to meet the owners briefly and they are very sweet, genuine people. 5-stars and more! read more

Definitely better than Ol' Stephen's. The menu isn't the most diverse in the world, but everything I ordered was delicious. It seems to be a family run joint, with a modest interior setting. Definitely going to be our new BBQ joint in Borger. 4/5 Would eat food again. read more

Been going to holy smokes for about four months now. Was going to Bennigan's had horrible service in horrible food the food at holy smokes been pretty good. The service lax sometimes servers don't always bring the silverware you need and a refill your drinks are slow seems to me that the servers can only focus on one table at a time. Today was the straw that broke the camels back ordered food got our drinks and waited other tables came in ordered their food and drinks and got their food within five minutes. Our server got a large table and all she could do is focus on that table we waited almost 40 minutes for food when I complain to the cashier she brought it out cold. Won't be going back for quite a while I've heard this complaint from other people it's too bad because the foods pretty good when it's hot! This is, by far, the worst place to eat in Borger (possibly, America). The staff is completely unprofessional. We were the only party there (that should speak for itself!) yet, the place was very loud because the staff was sitting around, carrying on like they were at a monster truck show, no regard for the comfort of their customers. The food was horrible, plenty of it, but absolutely inedible. The ribs were tough and raw, the ham was straight from a tin can and the sides were tasteless. I came here a few times with my boyfriend while he had to live in Borger temporarily for work. He had lived there 7 whole months when we finally checked it out. Unfortunately we didn't discover it until the last week he was living here but we went 4 times because we loved it so much. The huevos rancheros are my favorite, they are authentic and full of flavor. He loved the brisket loaded baked potato. The owner and the girls working there were always so sweet. They have a huge menu filled with bbq, Mexican and breakfast classics. My favorite restaurant in Borger, TX hands down. Stopped for lunch. Had the Armadillo Eggs to start, came out tiff like they had been sitting under a heat lamp. Had the brisket tacos. Meat was tender, very little smoke flavor. The previous reviews on this place are accurate in that the food is cold and often delivered inaccurately. My own experience involved 2 hot links and the brisket which all came out cold and the brisket dry. Upon making our server aware of the issue, she did remove our plates and bring us new with new hot links that were warmer yet still lacked any sort of authentic flavor. If I had to guess these links are not made in house nor smoked at all. The price for 3 meals with water was that of an authentic bbq joint at above $40.00 which seemed about $15.00 more than it should be given the quality of food. Of note is that they don't offer any pulled pork and they have 3 different menus you should attempt to reference when ordering. read more
