I agreed to a $200.00 fee to…read morepressure test my gas lines and have him do the required gas safety inspection with the City of Farragut. He told me that after a pressure test on my gas line that there were two leaks in the gas line. He said the pipes could be rusted out and would need to be replaced. If I wanted this to pass inspection I had to okay his estimate for service for $1,155.00 This was $200 for his fee and $955.00 for the repair. I expected to be told that they dug up rusted pipes and replaced them. However, I found out that he subbed out the work to a plumbing company and the two leaks were minor. They involved changing the pipe tape where the fittings went together. This reminds me of going to the car dealer for a noise in the engine and being told it could be the transmission and if you really need to use the car then you have to approve the cost of repair. When coming back to pick up the car you are told it was just a belt, but, because you approved the cost of replacing the transmission, you have to pay $3,000 not $300 for a belt. I don't know if Alex Buie thought it is easy to take advantage of a person not present, or because it is easy to take advantage of a senior citizen, but the charge of $955 to replace the tape used where two fittings come together is exorbitant. I have no complaint with the work done, but I do have an issue with the ethics and the greed of Buie's Heating and Air Do not use this company if ethics and price are important to you.

By the time the tech got to our house on Monday he stated that since the temp had dropped below 70deg that he couldn't properly diagnose the problem with our AC. He came back out two days later and was able to add coolant to our unit and get our AC back up and running. Great work!

Nice people to work with but the last two times at the house completely misdiagnosed a "problem" I had with my heat pump. Got a second opinion and their analysis was not accurate. Saved me a lot of money having someone else look at it. Had them out one more time and was charged an exorbitant amount for what amount to 15 minutes of work. Upon inspection in the attic is was not cleaned up as they said it would be. In summary, nice people, check their work, if something seems more expensive than it should be, get a second opinion. Be suspicious of "problems" that need to be addressed.
