I was shopping at Lowes the other day and thought I would drop in next door to the Home Consignment shop to check out their latest inventory. I wasn't needing any "new to me" furniture, decor, or jewelry. But you know how that goes. This place is large in square footage. Stocked with gently previously owned furniture, home decor, and jewelry. The furniture quality is outstanding. The kinds of pieces solidly made not shoddy. The styles range from mid century, cherry wood Asian themed, modern farmhouse,and contemporary. So many styles. The pieces are staged in showroom type setting making everything eye catching, so much so I caught myself mentally doing a home makeup over in my mind. Hubs even found a framed lithograph art print of 1984 Laker Kareem Abdul Jabar by LeRoy Neiman. Then I happened upon the jewelry section. Letting out a big sigh, I luv looking at jewelry. They have beautiful pieces and some high end brands such as Rolex and Piguet watches, Tiffany. My eye was drawn to the vintage art deco jewelry set (necklace, bracelet, and earrings) of gold and lapis. Very unique. All the jewelry looked to be in excellent condition. The woman working the counter had a great attitude, so fun and easy to talk with. She entertained my gawking and questions. Not pushy in pressing a sale. Plus she was knowledgeable. read more

Home Consignment is a fun store in which to leisurely browse around. Located right next door to Trader Joe's in Folsom... it gets a lot of traffic. Customer service is readily available if you need it. It is nice to be able to meander however without employees breathing down your neck. This is a very big store. Things are well organized and in great condition. So many items from indoor/outdoor furniture, artificial plants, couch pillows, mirrors, framed art, and seasonal decor (see Mrs. Clause:)). There is also a Fine Jewelery section which you typically do not find at a busines like this. Setup like a department store... you may view the jewelry items under glass. Value? Well, the things I am typically looking for are artificial plants like a cactus for my patio or for an indoor area I am trying to refresh. They are extremely reasonable as opposed to Target or Home Goods. From reading the reviews, customers have found some nice items. Next time you are cruising through the TJ's parking lot and have some time on your hands consider a walk through this fun and interesting store. A few pictures included of some purchases WE bought an awesome fountain for my mother and a dining table both not shown here! Last year we found amazing Gold and Topaz drop earrings and had the coolest braided gold and this year the tanzanite and diamond heirloom ring as a early Christmas Needed a narrow table in a guest room and the photo does not do this copper tree table justice. Always head up at least 1 time per month with my mom searching for "treasures" LOL only down side is this store is located next to a Trader Joes and you know how those lots can be ;-). Drove 50 miles to see their fine jewelry and handbags. The cases were empty and upon asking, the employee, she said they don't sell either of those on Mondays or Tuesdays. I told her it would be nice if that was on their website since it says they're open 7 days a week with no mention of the jewelry/handbag exception. I told her the manager really should fix the website and she said he would know since he was in charge of those two categories. Beware. I certainly won't waste time going back on the off chance they stop selling other things and don't tell customers. read more

I wish I had read the reviews from people trying to sell with them before I wasted my time. I don't think I've ever been treated so rudely by anyone before. Upon arrival, I smiled and introduced myself and the owner just shrugged. It went downhill from there. His split was unfair and what we discussed on the phone was completely different in person. He told me I wouldn't get more than $199.00 and he gets half of that! He also chipped a piece off the top of my hutch and said it didn't matter because it was on top. After the rude behavior and the ridiculous quote, I took my piece and left. I sold it 3 weeks later for $600.00! I kept all of that profit! I recommend you go anywhere but here. I would rather donate than give this rude man my business or money. I will no longer be a customer either. read more

We purchased a lovely champagne leather sofa and beautiful dining set with 6 chairs still covered in plastic. Both for a great price. Plus they stored them for us until we moved to our new home. Great customer service and a plethora of very nice slightly used furniture. This will be our first visit before shopping for furniture at full retail stores in the future. So rude! I do not know who Jerry is to this business but he certainly is not an asset. The first time he was rude was on the phone with me. Talking loudly at me through a speaker phone..it took forever to get a word in to explain that I could not understand a word he was saying and that his escalating volume was not helping. I generously wrote that off to " he is having a bad day", " the resale industry must be stressful " Today I went in person- I have never been treated so rudely Jerry cannot look at a photograph to determine if a piece of furniture is worthy of store??? Claims that a referral to their movers is handled completely different that what he stated in an email to me. Just a total jerk who has wasted two weeks of my time! read more

I am completely sold on the Home Consignment Furniture Stores, and have shopped at various sites since 2002. Great service and delivery; unique quality furnishings and extremely reasonably priced items. This allows me to always pay cash; therefore, we haven't had any monthly furniture bills in over twenty years. It has been a win win for both sides. I even furnished my daughter's house with model home pieces that she would still be paying for five years later, if we had gone to a "regular" store. Just in case you were wondering, everyone is more than complementary to us about our home. It's a warm and eclectically decorated 3600 square feet home. I guess the only negative statement I can make is that I try not to go to Home Consignment Stores any more, because my house is full. read more

Watch out for animal/bug issues. They do not care for or inspect their items like they claim to when asked. I tend to only post positive reviews, unless I encounter something really egregious. So here I am. We purchased a set of chairs here. We were told that "all sales are final" but that there is a 24 hour period where you can try the item you purchase and if it doesn't fit, etc. they will take them back. I stop by weekly when I go to Trader Joe's, and this was communicated by several different employees. We took our chairs home and called within 24 hours after detecting problems and were told that the terms would not be honored. Deeply disappointed, as the associates I've met here are always so kind. To make matters worse, when I explained the situation the owner said "all of my employees are tenured" as though they are incapable of error. I spoke to an employee who told me how she is new and recently hired, and she had to ask questions of other employees the whole time I was there. He quickly pivoted from that line when I mentioned her. It is shocking that he can comfortably tell customers a bold-faced lie. If you luck out here with a great piece good for you, but the owner is slippery, disrespectful, dishonorable, foul-tempered and ineffective at proactive relations. I cannot believe the lack of integrity. I feel so sorry for the associates working under him. Get any purchase or arrangement you have with this store *in writing* prior to any action, however small. read more

I sold a piece of furniture that I loved but just did not work in our new home here recently and the process was super simple. I appreciate that you email them a photo first of what you are trying to sell and then they decide if they want the item before you go out of your way to load the car only to be told that they don't have a need for it. Once I got that green light, I loaded up and parked my car, let them know I was there and someone helped me get the item out, as I was a little limited with having kids in the car. They took my info, explained briefly how it worked, and I got a check in the mail about three weeks later. So easy! I briefly looked around (as mentioned, had the kids in the car) and it looks like a fun place to explore when I have time. Note - you should probably mention to staff that you are there to sell, as another couple was sitting in their car waiting (I didn't realize they were there, let alone in front of me so I inadvertently cut them without meaning to) for someone to come out to them. Just a heads up to avoid what happened to me. read more

I was approached by Sandy who was so very helpful positive, and patient. I had been looking at this picture there for at least a month (it was way out of my price range). I would pop in just to look at it. It was very very expensive but oh so beautiful. The picture had been moved and I looked for it in the store for at least 15 minutes. I started feeling sad because I thought it was gone and the " shoulda coulda woulda" set in. Then I saw it up in the corner. . . When Sandy asked to help me I told her my story and she said sounds like this picture is meant for you, lets check the price. To my surprise it had been reduced and was now in the just barely affordable range, I actually cried tears of joy in the store when she told me the price. Somethings are meant to be. Have sold *a lot* of pieces with both the old (closed) Roseville store, and this Folsom location. Last week, I got an out of the blue call that an item of ours didn't sell after 45 days, and I needed to come pick it up by the -next day-. It was a furniture piece, and since I was given no notice, I pushed back to come by the following weekend with a bigger car. Come to find out, the piece was "on display" in a back room with little foot traffic, and they never contacted me about lowering the price to try and sell it. It was not an outdated, busted piece from 30 years ago, it was a newer console table from about 7 years ago. When we got there, we were ignored by several of the ladies working the floor ("Go to the front desk," then, "Go to the back area," etc etc), and finally got help from an associate once he got off a phone call. This is the only big consignment game in town, so maybe it gets away with such awful customer service and terrible management?? This store also takes half the money when your item sells, so it really is more trouble and annoying to sell there than it's worth putting up with them. Going forward, we'll try selling on FB Marketplace. read more

When I called on the phone to ask if an appt was necessary for bringing in jewelry, the woman at the jewelry counter said, no not at all. She was friendly and helpful. I explained to her that I had sold jewelry with Diane at the Roseville location (closed now) for many years. So I get there and there is this elderly guy Phil, at the counter who would rather talk sports with another man than assist me. He was a real turn off, maybe because women were treated differently by men from his generation (80 something). He immediately started talking about all the jewelry that they "don't take" and never even looked at my jewelry. I pulled out 2 gold rings with rubies, diamonds and custom designs. He said I would need to leave them with him and I would get a call later if they would accept them. WHAT? I'm here right now and you can't tell me if you would consign them??He said he did not have time since he was the only one at the counter. There was not even 3 people in the entire store and no one at the jewelry counter. HE NEVER EVEN LOOKED AT THE 30 PIECES OF STERLING SILVER CUSTOM DESIGNS THAT I BROUGHT IN. I spent $25 in gas and a lot of time getting things together, to be told he did not have time to look at my things. THE JEWELRY ON DISPLAY LOOKED LIKE OLD 90'S STYLE DESIGNS, VERY OUTDATED. read more

Regarding JEWELRY Department - - 2 stars - I should have known better than to purchase a higher end piece at a consignment store. It turned out to need substantial work at a high cost, and I asked that the consignor or store meet me half-way for the repairs - denied. In addition, I paid to have the piece authenticated, which I was assured was 100% authentic, until I said I was going to have that done; then was told there were two parts not actually authentic, but the rest of it was (which was verified by the professional). Bottom line - I paid substantially more for a piece than I should have due to the repairs needed, the authentication needed, and am disappointed in the transaction. Initially I asked how I would know the piece was authentic and was told "because I know & have been in the business a long time" (not a sufficient answer), and that "it runs fine" (a watch); however per the professional who evaluated it, it does not hold the time and needs significant work. Just because it runs, doesn't mean it's fine....I take responsibility for not trusting my instincts or experience that it wasn't an ethical/professional transaction. Buyer beware. Regarding FURNITURE department - 5 stars! They helped me close out my mom's home. I sent detailed pictures and descriptions and they were prompt getting back to me with the pieces of furniture, lamps and home decor that worked for them. They helped coordinate a moving truck, and kept me posted about the process. They were super helpful and compassionate, and all the pieces they accepted sold. Thank you, kindly. read more

This home consignment center next-door to Trader Joe's on Bidwell was absolutely fabulous to me. I bought a second bench to match one that I had gotten in Danville at the home consignment center there. Got it home and the legs did not match... Uh Oh, I understood there were no returns at the consignment center but, Lois, the manager made an exception, called all around to find one with the legs that my first band, Chad, got it for me, and took the one that I had previously (mistakenly) purchased. I thought it was quite generous, and felt treated respectfully and appropriately. I love this store! read more

SHOP around! Not only do they over charge when you purchase, they over charge on their fee for consignment... 50%. They determine the price and they get 50% of the sale! Example: I found a storage bench and realized it looked familiar, I had just seen this bench at Home Goods (next door), I liked it so much that I had taken a photo, it was $49.99 at Home Goods, but this "consignment" store was asking $59.00 and in need of some TLC. When I brought it to their attention, I got a snarky response "We don't know prices"... you got that right! This is their business and they should know the value of furniture; apparently they do not! Well ... I've been going here to peruse, buy, and even SELL some of my furnishings, since they opened years ago. HOWEVER, it seems they've either: (1) hired a different Manager (the previous blonde-haired Manager was very professional and NICE) , or (2) it's changed ownership AND management. In either instance, have gone in twice over the last MONTH. There is a darker-haired British woman who seems to be the new Manager, doing 'live' videos on FB, and hired many young people who will CONSTANTLY ask if you're 'finding everything' or 'need help'. [COURTEOUS help is always a plus, however this was too much - must be on 'commission'.] OFF-PUTTING moments (for me and my family) have proven the current MANAGER seems to have absolutely NO people skills... Yesterday, I was told by courteous staff there was an additional space, which ODDLY could ONLY be accessed through the back alley way. When I ventured into that area, this Manager was in the room and asked when I walked in if I was 'OK', then said 'You look Startled' and gave ME a strange 'look'. On our previous visit earlier in the month, intending to purchase a set of 4 chairs (one of which this Manager had a HOLD sign on -- for Herself!!) we were told by her items for sale are NOT negotiable (previously, former Management or kind Staff would considerately call or look up the owner of an item to obtain 10% to 15% off for a customer, which was their policy). Used item prices are CONSIDERABLY and unreasonably HIGHER than they used to be (you can buy NEW furniture for the prices they are asking). SADLY, this place has changed. It's NOT due to the year of 'Covid'. Seems to be poor management. read more

Came in last weekend browsing for a sofa for a second living room. Did not anticipate finding much, yet had loved the Roseville store once upon a time, so made the drive to check it out. We were greeted immediately and were ask to take a look around by a kind woman named Victoria. Many times, you feel bombarded when shopping for furniture, yet we were given space to roam the store freely. It was not extremely busy, however we were one of the first to arrive at opening. Our preschooler was being quite the 4 year old that day, and we were worried it would cut our shopping trip short. A woman appeared out from behind the counter and asked him what his name was. He introduced himself and she to him - Lisa. She asked if she could show him a rocking horse, which was near a sofa (she had heard us speaking with Victoria about what we were looking for...). She guided us over and showed our little guy the horse, all the while showing us exactly what we were looking for. As we measured the sofa, she calmly played with our son a few feet away! They laughed about their masks, he told stories and she rocked him on the horse. She mentioned she had a grandson his age, and he reminded her of him. Turns out she is the manager. (Bonus: She's great with rambunctious kids who won't let their parents shop!) In a matter of 10 minutes, we found what we hoped was the perfect fit, so long as it fit our space, and got to shop in some peace! Victoria checked on us, and offered to put a hold on the sofa, so we could go home and measure. We thanked them both, ran home and it was a match! The team offered to deliver, however by then, the store was very busy, and the delivery team was ramping up deliveries. Instead, we picked up the piece, excited to bring it home. And it's perfect. We had a wonderful first-time experience at this location, and are kicking ourselves for not coming sooner. (Somewhat stomping our feet that the Roseville store closed!) We will be back... hopefully for some of that teak outdoor furniture in the other room!!! (Ask about the other room....it's like a secret space!) Thanks Lisa and Victoria! read more

Note to others- before you load your 100 lb 9x12 rug and drive over an hour they do a 50% markdown on never used items!‍ They won't mention this in any prior emails/texts so not very upfront. Please be careful selling anything here . This was the love seat they sold for me and when I got my check for payment my check was only or $415. And when I called to find out why the check was that low ... they said they sold the couch for $854 . Funny thing is I dropped the couch off on 9/29 and the couch sold on 10/01 . So only 2 days later and they said they gave the person who purchased it 10% . And why would they post it here they sold it for $999. Someone is lying to me Please be careful allowing them to sell your items *** Update - just wanted to add a lil more context to situation . I had purchased the love seat for $575 two weeks prior to dropping it off at HCC . And when I dropped of I explained I could just return the sofa but I would have to pay $100 to ship it back to where I purchased from. And decided to sell it thru consignment because I expected it to at least break even . And when I agreed to give them 45 days to sell my item. , they explained that that in order to make the sale , they could lower the price up to 20% ...and i said I really rather. Just keep the sofa before they lowered the price that much . And the contract stayed I could pick up the loveseat early and just pay 15% off the asking fee as a penalty , which I was. Fine with . And when we agreed on a starting price ...why would I expect them to take 10% or almost $100 of the asking price after they only had it a day , just so they could make the sAle . It works out great for them . But at the end of the day , since I purchased the sofa for almost $600 and then only got a check for $409 from them . I basically took a loss off $200 having them sale it for me , while they made close to $500 to have it installed there store for a little less than 2 days . That's why I explained , I rather just take back the sofa and pay the $150 penalty fee before the price was discounted to make the sale . But I guess they saw more profit and dong what they had to just to make the sAle . So if anything , a very good lesson learned . The loveseat was regularly priced close to $1700 ...so I would have been better off just offering it on Craigslist for $600 and then I would've broke even . ***hope this helps anyone thinking about having items sold thru consignment see the bigger picture **** read more

This review is based on an employees response to an incident that occurred with my daughter. We have frequented this store a few times, this time while looking around my daughter had to use their restroom. When she went to wash her hands, the Equate hand soap pump was so powerful, the soap shot right in my daughters eye. I flushed her eye out right away and politely told one employee at the front desk what happened in hopes it doesn't happen to anyone else, especially another child. Another lady with dark brown hair heard what i was saying and commented "well, you buy what you buy." I spoke louder and said my daughter is fine, I just wanted to let you know so it doesn't happen to anyone else. If this response from a mere soap bottle in their restroom is any indication of how they treat their customers, especially being a consignment store - beware! Kelly at Home Consignment in Folsom was a huge help! I had viewed a dining room set in a previous visit but wasn't sure if it was right for me at the time. Once I decided it would work, I called her and she took care of everything on the phone, including holding the set for a Few days for me, lining up delivery, etc. the store has a nice selection of good quality furniture at reasonable prices. I have also purchased from other stores in this franchise - all with good results. IMHO, these stores are the best way to buy furniture! read more

I came upon their Folsom and Roseville stores during a time when I was in the process of purchasing a new home in Shingle Springs. I owned no furniture at the time and had to furnish a 3,500 square foot house from scratch! The extremely knowledgeable, experienced, and helpful staff provided the guidance and confidence I needed to furnish the house before I moved in. The staff took the time to know me and uncover my tastes and the specific pieces i was looking for. The text messages and photos I received regarding the arrival of potential merchandise of interest interest was also immensely helpful. They may not wish me to disclose the following: When my stockpile of purchased furniture that was awaiting delivery had overstayed their welcome due to delays in loan closing, the staff was supportive and understanding. Despite the loss of usable merchandise inventory space, they took the delay in stride. Truly a hidden gem in Folsom, the Home Consignment Center allowed me to fully furnish and accessorize a house at the fraction of retail cost! BE FOREWARNED: Bargain furniture hunting may become an addictive obsession and there are NO SUPPORT GROUPS available to provide treatment and recovery! I assume no liabilities should you, the reader, develop an inability to stay away from this store even after you have filled your home to the rafters with gorgeous pieces!
