Reviews With Photos - Home Fur-Ever Rescue

One of the great things about this rescue is that they're foster based, which means their volunteers can tell you everything about a dog's personality and what they need in a new home. I was searching for an adult GSD and saw one at their booth at the Novi pet expo, but learned he had a strong prey drive and wouldn't do well with my cats. Sharon, one of their amazing volunteers, helped me find a new dog that would be a better fit- a GSD puppy that would grow up with the cats and be okay with them. The application was long and they definitely cover their bases, but that's what a good rescue should do. They made sure I was prepared for 10-15 years with a strong, driven breed, and that I was fully committed. Their process weeds out anyone who isn't serious and allows them to help you get ready for your new pet. They give a list of trainers and require you complete two sessions with them, and since I had planned to ask for recommendations I didn't mind. All the trainers are force free and use positive reinforcement, which is exactly what I was looking for! I still keep in contact with Sharon to show her photos of my dog while he grows up, and I know the rescue will always be there if I have any questions. They've already helped me find an amazing doggie daycare and we completed our first training course with a trainer they recommended.

We adopted our first dog this past August and our second in December. I could not be more happy with the level of service and professionalism the staff showed me and my family. We found the best dogs that suit our family. The process to adopt had a number of steps, but this to ensure that the pets would be cared for in a loving and stable environment. I am very thankful to Homefurever.

I have volunteered for Homefurever for 5 years now and I love it! I have fostered almost 100 dogs and puppies over the years and have met some absolutely wonderful families! It is so rewarding for me to help to unite neglected and abused dogs and puppies to awesome people and give them a chance to have the amazing life they deserve! Thank you Homefurever for letting me be a part of what you do for these deserving animals!

Conversation with the phone number posted for their rescue. Quite embarrassing on their behalf to say the least.

I actually JUST got off the phone with whoever's number is posted for this rescue (its a cell phone). Whoever this person is was beyond rude and condescending. I called about a certain dog thats been on pet-finder and their site for over a week now to see if he had been adopted. When I called she said "Oh yea, he's already been adopted." I replied with 'Maybe you guys should update the site(s)..' To which she interrupts to say, "Well we are all volunteers and we have lives, and children, and jobs, and husbands, and other commitments." And I said "okay, but I have been trying to reach out through multiple websites, emails, and phone numbers, over the past week and NO ONE can reply?" Then she snaps, "Did you hear what I just said?" And proceeded to go on with that question like a broken record anytime I tried to get a statement in, then ending in her laughing into the phone and hanging up. I texted the number "No wonder your organization has terrible reviews, you are extremely rude and treat your possible customers terrible. I don't care if you have prior commitments, don't make a volunteer organization one of them if you can't do the job." And according to all the other reviews, seems like they just can't get customer service right.

I've spent the past two days looking to relinquish them to a no kill shelter in hope that they'd find a good & loving home. I contacted several local shelters, humane society and animal control centers only to get no help. No suggestions and passed off. Grosse Pointe shelter was the only facility that actually offered suggestions/ideas to help these animals. Well done! Heads above all the rest who are just lip service. Thank you for your help!

Both of them were in their seventies, my stepfather was on oxygen and my mother a cancer survivor with severe heart disease. I was emphatic with my mother to not get these cats because the day would come soon that they would not be able to take care of them, this shelter should have NEVER allowed my parents to adopt because of their age and their health but Grosse Pointe Animal Adoption thought it was a good idea. The cats have suffered neglect under my mother's care for at least a year as my mother's health was failing and now 4 years later my stepfather is dead and my mother is not able to take care of herself anymore let alone two cats and Grosse Pointe Anima Adoption refuses to take them back saying they are full, and they are saying they might have room in 2 months. I CAN'T KEEP THESE CATS but they don't care, it's not their problem anymore. They don't really give a damn at all about getting these cats good home all they care is getting these animals out of their care and then they will wash their hands of it. AWFUL AWFUL AWFUL

I had no experience at all with any pet having babies. It became overwhelming with Kitty's anxiety. My stress level was steadily climbing as I started losing sleep. This wasn't good for my many health issues. It was too heavy of a load. I gave MACS a call around 9:30 in the morning. At 10:30, they were taking the family indoors. I couldn't believe how extremely kind, understanding and comforting they were. From the call that I made to getting everyone in their hands, it was all done in a loving and caring manner. I truly appreciated everything. My plan was to rehome the kittens after 8 weeks. My daughter and I were constantly researching what to do and how. We couldn't do it as planned with Kitty's now anxiety. So we very blessed that MACS was there. From my phone call to intake, the experience was nothing but excellent. I even called to follow up the next day. I love what they have to offer. I am confident that they all will be placed in loving families. I highly recommend them. Thank you so very much Michigan Animal Cruelty Society!!! Your help has been much appreciated.

The number of animals that they have to take in in a day is staggering. They do their best to showcase and help them find homes. With the workload and mental and emotional stress they endure day in and day out, I am amazed. I spent a rewarding morning volunteering at FoDACC. During orientation, I got trained in day to day operations, dog management, dog handling, along with a tour of the building. Afterward, I was able to walk and play with the dogs; give them a nice outdoor break. FoDACC has spacious grassy play pens for the dogs to run free and play with lots of toys. They have many boopable noses for adoption as you can see in my pictures below!

The problem I have with DACC is that they do not do enough community outreach for the dogs that are loose on the street or being actually tortured like the rottie that a rescue took in recently being chained up to a rotten filthy broken down dog house for 4 years the chain deeply embedded in this dogs neck had to be surgically removed. DACC and the Detroit police were made aware of the problem and they stated they would revisit after the holiday. This is just not acceptable. The Detroit Prosecutor needs to step up her game in prosecuting these people that torture these defenseless dogs.
