Sine's is a heartfelt treasure ~ from the moment you enter, the feelings of sentiment, nostalgia…read moreand history most definitely take hold.  Shelving filled with antiques surround the store's upper walls, and the inventory here is about as varied as you could possibly imagine.  A long, old fashioned soda counter with comfortable looking bar stools appeared inviting, complete with daily advertised ice cream and lunch specials.  Hardware, toys, greeting cards, knick knacks, candy, Christmas/seasonal decor, paper goods.   The model airplanes in the window, dangling from the ceiling are pretty amazing. Some of the empty display tables had me wishing there was a lot more inventory in the main section of Sine's...an adjoining room was more of a museum with a wonderful,  interesting display of local history ~ pennants, newspaper articles, photographs, artifacts.  It was disappointing to see the Christmas section of the shop dark and from appearances, closed on the day we visited.  As long as you keep in mind that this is more of a 'look at and appreciate' sort of visit and less of a shopping experience, you will not be disappointed.

Sine's sadly wasn't my hometown five and dime as the owner of my hometown store passed away and the store folded shortly afterwards. Finding anything similar nearby was hard to find and bigger iniatives like dollar trees didn't feel the same. As much as visiting Sine's excited me, it also feels so strange and impractical now traveling to a five and dime now. As it's on the way to my New Hope adventures, best I can do is make a day trip out of it. It's a nice stop on the way. But it's still a five and dime. Please don't make a special trip, though I get it... that trip can feel like a novelty. Here, you can still find GI Joe's and Barbie to model airplanes and halycon Christmas lights and you don't have to feel pressured by cashless transactions. You can introduce your child to a more halcyon time in your childhood by finding toys then even household items and greeting cards so it can still be a one stop. And just like at Woolworth's, an active lunch counter is still here... at least until two or three. With how expensive it is to run a business, especially in Upper Bucks County, I am still impressed how these beautiful small ones still stay in the game without adjusting price increases turning away their target consumer. If any of this makes your eyes twinkle and your heart smile, go while you can. Patronize small along main street where Sine's still literally sits on main street in Quakertown.

At one point it did have a Friendlys which was always my main reason to come to this shopping center but that closed down and turned into Buffalo Wild Wings. Also some notes about this shopping center. Quakertown Family Restaurant is in the same lot but in its own section, only accessed by Route 309. This also connected to Richland Crossing Shopping Center (by the Quakertown Health Center) but that is it's own shopping center with its own stores. There are a few lights and exits to this shopping center (not including the ones in the next shopping center over) and it has alot of space and parking, I'd just watch out for those nasty speed bumps in the back of the lot.

A Horrid Walmart!…read more The multitude of negative reviews don't lie. There's no standard as to who is hired to work as a checker, as Walmart corporate could care less, and wants to dissuade customers from using live people-staffed cashier lines in the first place. The male checker on our line--one of only two or three to be staffed--was so argumentative and hateful that I was concerned for our safety. He had trouble getting the UPC code on a nutrition beverage multipack to read on Walmart's register scanner, so he got an attitude as if it was somehow our fault. (The bar code was present on every individual container!). Then he began twisting the cap tops to move the containers to a different angle, which could easily cause them to open, ruining the product....so we asked him to stop using the cap tops to rotate the containers and just take the product off the order, even though we needed the item. But he initially refused, choosing to start an argument and be insulting, and say that if we didn't like the way he worked his register, "You can go to self-service!" On top of this, he refused to redeem a coupon for merchandise unless it was tied to a credit card, even though the coupon covered the purchase--which surely is not Walmart's policy. (Two managers had to come over and tell him there was no requirement to tie a coupon-covered item to any credit card!). I'm sorry I didn't immediately walk out! This Walmart is not a safe environment to shop in, particularly at night.

But this Walmart would rather let the cart guys sit in the vestibule looking at their phones. Second - READ YOUR RECEIPT BEFORE YOU LEAVE!!! I can't state this enough. We scanned eggs that were supposed to be $2.72 and luckily checked our receipt, because those eggs scanned as a 15.75 Red Velvet cake. We bought what we thought was listed as a clearance item on the shelf, only to be charge full price. And don't even get me started on how the personal shoppers just block all the isles here.

This has the Super Walmart, the Arby's, the Applebees, the Earl Bowl Lanes, and even the Regal Richland Crossing cinema in the back lot past Walmart. While I haven't been to too many of the stores other than the ones listed, it has the closest Arbys around and a decent movie theater so that makes it a win in my book. It has its own light to leave onto 309 (and avoid Quakertown Plaza) and the back entrance/exit past the movie theater onto California Road is quiet and less crowded too. My only advice is watch out for traffic as it can get annoying at times, but other than that it is a solid shopping center.

Lots of interesting choices, like in great buys on almost expired foods. TONS of organic, vegan, and dietary restricted choices, like gluten free. The owner is a hard worker, always there, and promotes a great work environment for the employees who are so helpful. I forget about time in here, as I'm always finding something new, reading labels, etc. The best way to shop is to come here first, then back fill at your favorite grocery store. I buy most of my meats here, and this IS my favorite grocery store. Don't forget to check out the soaps/beauty aisle to find great prices on good shampoos, etc. Really, all families should shop here first. I promise, you will save tons on snacks, frozen, meats, and veggies. Not everything is "outlet" priced, so on a good day, you won't have to back fill with the basics like milk, bread, and eggs. I always wonder why everyone doesn't know about this "secret".
