I dropped off my auger for repairs last Saturday. I was pretty sure all it needed was a pull rope so I was a little put off when after a week I still hadn't heard anything. I stopped by this morning, the following Saturday, and sure enough they hadn't gotten to it yet. Realizing it's the peak of busy season for small engine mechanics I decided not to make a big deal out of it and went on home. Even though there are no mechanics on duty on the weekends I got a call about an hour later saying my auger was ready for pickup. The manager on duty, being a mechanic also, took it upon himself to repair my equipment. I really appreciate that kind of service and will not hesitate to use them in the future. My husband and I went to ACE Home Hardware to look for a EGO riding lawnmower. We found a EGO and went in to ask for help. We were greeted with smiles and hellos. They told us where to go about the EGO, the staff and manager were so helpful and polite. We bought the EGO and they delivering it to us today. I have lived here nearly 4 years and the atmosphere at this location remains as unfriendly as ever. Thought I would try one more time today and same as prior experiences. No one greets you. No one offers to help or assist in finding items. Coming from North Georgia where there are several Ace Hardware stores, I don't understand the lack of customer service. If this occurred when it is just me in store, I'd attribute it to being a female, but even with my husband with me, same attitude. I work in customer service and my husband has 35 years + in retail experience, ironically with Ace Hardware and we are amazed at lack of being the helpful hardware place. 23 Sep 2025. 4:30 Called store to see if they repair small engines. Parts guy said yes if it was a Standard engine like Briggs and Stratton. Arrived at store at 5:45. I unloaded the small B&S 5.5 hp engine and brought it inside. I was immediately turned away because it was, "policy not to accept anything after 5:30." I told him I called first and just needed to drop it off. He said he was, "not going to violate company policy." Nothing on web site about drop offs, nothing was said by parts tech. I will never know if they do good work. I will not be returning to that business again. It appeared it was time to go home and couldn't be bothered. Not very friendly... I noticed the difference in how they approach certain customers.No better than the S t. Mary Road location, they'll be gone like Jordan on Reese Road, that's why they are no longer in business. Horrible customer service, just horrible. I thought they sold Sherwin Williams, they do not. It was Sunday & I did not know if any other places were open. The paint rep told me they could make any of SW colors, upon telling him what I wanted he told me they could not make that one. The $72 can I received was rusted as if it had been outside for 10 years. 3 days later I had everything ready to paint, when I opened the can I realized it was not completely closed (thankfully it didn't spill in my car). The paint was a huge clump that could not be stirred. When I spent part of my day off work going back to the store to get a new can. Did the mgr (Maurice) or the same paint rep even say they were sorry for the inconvenience, no. I was offered a replacement but they were out of the upgraded bathroom paint I originally bought so I had to downgrade, again without as much as a verbal apology. Then I had to use 3 coats to get decent coverage with the low quality paint. read more
