We interviewed a few companies to get a metal roof installed and after weighing the differences, there was no question on who we were going with. Home Improvements USA was exceptional to work with. We had terrible contractor experiences in the past and were so worried it was going to happen, but our experience with them was far from our previous ones. From the start, everyone was friendly, punctual and professional. Whenever I had questions regarding the work, no one hesitated to answer them. They never made me feel like my questions were bothersome. The install went great. The crew was on time each day and they were very efficient. The job took the amount of time they said it would and they even worked through a very cold day. The people in the office were all very helpful and informative with the process and all the info I needed. They always took my call or called me back the moment they could. I am so happy we went with this company and I will recommend them to anyone who is looking to get a project done. They are at the top of my list for future projects. So it changed once i mentioned other options and avenues i was considering Not using insurance I have decided not to use Home Improvements USA due to lack of transparency and a simplified -detailed Proposal (not more advertisements) which hasn't addressed my mobile home needs: regular basic door(which u stated you measured) and small sub floor 4×5 repair, $8484 -Roof(# square ft. Of proposed entire replacement, whole house vent replacement. Other concerns :How warranty would be secured?, your licensing, your contractors having their own liability insurance, permits, and cleanup process . I find the undisclosed 50% off (?$) that was not disclosed upfront is presentation of prices is being perceived as price gouging and make me uncomfortable using your company. My two past projects (installing an entry door and a new roof on the house and garage), and the current project (installing a garage side door), were all quickly and expertly done, with no mess left behind. Julie made it extremely easy to book the appointment for the work (yes, an added bonus is that you can talk to a real person at this company!), and Mike (the sales rep) presented with me an honest and accurate estimate prior to starting any of the work. HONEST REVIEW. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY. First time using Home Improvements USA. Was connected with them through Angi's List. Their sales rep John Broich was very good on the first visit. Sane when he came out for the second visit and this is when I decided to move forward with this company. I liked their roof shingle product they offered (brand of shingle is Malarkey) and thought it was very innovative. Even though John told me they would be 6-8 weeks out from starting the roof replacement project, they actually started within about 4 weeks. This is when the problems started. I received a phone call on a Friday morning from their main office advising me they would like to come out the next Monday to start AND complete the project within the same day. Their sales rep also advised me this should only take 1 day. I thought this was a bit of short notice but considering I did not need to be home, I told them this was ok. Their office rep also told me that he was surprised that someone did not call me sooner to confirm the start date and should have done this. When the next Monday came around, I then received a call confirming the workers were on their way and should arrive in about 1 hour. I then received another call about 30-60 minutes later telling me their truck broke down and they would have to reschedule. I told them I was already not liking this back and forth but if they needed to reschedule then fine, since again, I did not need to be home. About an hour later, I received another phone call saying that they got another truck and would still make it out today. I told them to only come out if they could still get the roof done in 1 day since a couple of hours had now been lost at this point. They insisted on still coming out that day. They arrived and got to work. When their sales rep first came out, I asked about a couple of extra things I wanted to have done and their Sales rep said it would be no problem at all. When their office rep called the Friday before I asked him to confirm the requested extras were known about and on the work order. He seem to have no idea what I was talking and even said those are things that they don't normally do. This is now the 2nd time of miscommunication, first time being the scheduling issue. He said he would talk with the sale rep and the owner of the company and get this straightened out. When the work was being done, I came home at lunch to check on the progress. To my surprise the owner of the company was there watching over everything. I then asked the owner for an update on the progress. While we were talking he made no mention of the few extra things I requested. Again, I advised him what their sales rep agreed to but, this tells me that their office rep did not communicate properly with the owner about the extra requests. The owner guaranteed me that the extra requests would be included and taken care of. At the end of the day, they did finish the roof replacement but they did do any of the extra requests. I contacted back to the owner and he advised that the foreman on the job had an emergency and had to leave early. When the last worker was wrapping up for the day, he told me someone would be by within 1 hour to pickup the trailer they parked in the driveway that they collected all of the debris and garbage in so it would not be in the driveway overnight. No one came to pick it up that night. That was miscommunication #3. Please see attached picture for full/ REMAINING REVIEW. I can not recommend this company due to multiple times of miscommunication. The overall pricing was also seemingly good at first but not worth it after all of the troubles, miscommunications, and cleanup I had to do. But, I would recommend the shingle product itself. I'm sure there are other companies that install the Malarkey shingle product. I have attached pictures of this project. I'm giving 2 out of 5 stars which equals a D. Our installer was able to identify the venting problem for us, and we are so thankful he did. We received a new roof, proper ventilation, a new chimney and are very pleased with the results. Mike C. the salesman and I discussed what was being done to my house at great length over 3 appointments at my kitchen table witnessed by my family members. The agreement was (1) LP Smartside board for all Fascia/Soffit-black (2) LP Smartside board for the soffit where there needed to be ventilation that would be MANUFACTURED VENTED (3) Copper Penny (feux) gutters WITH LEAF GUARDS (4) Window beams at front of house wrapped in LP smartboard (black) (5) Exposed beams under roof wrapped in LP smartboard (black). Mike and I discussed the uniqueness of my home and my intentions to bring it back to its former beauty as it is a 1962 build. We discussed that I would have a KNOWLEDGEABLE crew familiar with LP Smartside fascia/soffit installation. Well, he made a joke that they would pull up to the back of a Home Depot and pick up whatever illegal immigrants were looking for work that day. Then he assured me he was joking and that the crew would be knowledgeable. He stated that most of their crews were polish carpenters and did high quality work. Of note! This house is not your typical cookie cutter ranch or 2 story being built in new subdivisions. This house is architecturally UNIQUE. I put in the order for the work back in November. Plenty of time for the company to ensure that the most knowledgeable carpenters and installers were on the unique job at hand. Instead they sent me a green crew that fumbled through the project EVERY STEP of the way. The crew came while I was at work and started ripping down the old fascia/soffit and then proceeded to install James Hardie Board without even asking! What is even more disturbing, is that they didn't even remove some of the old aluminum soffit and just covered hardie board over it. When the owner Steve was called to go over some concerns I was having, it's as though his purpose was to do damage control. Not on the horrific work, but on me! He was tasked with managing my expectations and knocking those expectations down so that I would agree that the work being done was quality. He tried slapping some lipstick on the pig (as they say) in order to get me to shut up. Over and over Steve touted the company's stellar reputation and reviews instead of really looking at what was being done to my home. What I want to know about all these good reviews online is: did these homeowners have the same exact crew doing their work? Do they have unique homes as I do? . I have requested proof that the installers were certified to work with James Hardie Board. No one will respond to my request. I have requested proof of the James Hardie Warranty, no one from Home Improvement USA will respond. I had carpenters that build new homes come to look at the work, they pointed out how the board was installed incorrectly and that there is no way James Hardie will back the warranty. The second day of the job I was informed that (1) the wrapping on my front window beams was not being done (2) my exposed beams were being wrapped in aluminum (and looks terrible) (3) part of my garage was being wrapped in aluminum (which looks terrible) I absolutely know why those areas were wrapped in aluminum now. The crew was uncomfortable wrapping in the Hardie board because they did not possess the skill set to appropriately make the cuts. Beyond the above mentioned. There were dangerous hazards left at my home. There was a discussion about leaving some wires out to install new lights. They left one set out UNCAPPED, and another was covered in board UNCAPPED. These were LIVE wires so this was a FIRE HAZARD. I have a 14-month-old child that sleeps in this home. Nails were left EVERYWHERE. The pitch on some of the gutters was wrong and water collected in areas it shouldn't have. In addition, the man that sold me the work assured me that my new TPO membrane roof would be all tied up into the new fascia/gutter system and my exterior would be complete. Instead, THEY LEFT IT OUT nailed over the new fascia/soffit. The owner Steve said it was not their responsibility to complete that part. I had the building inspector from Lockport come out to look at what was going on. I have never met him prior to this. He was sad for me when he saw the quality of work being done to such a relic of the neighborhood. "This is pretty rough work" were his words. I had my roofer come out to see what was being done as he was excited to watch this house be restored. He too was sad for what was done to my home. As for the vented soffit. Mike and I (in the presence of my father) discussed using the LP board that was manufactured vented for airflow circulation. The threw the regular board in there ONCE AGAIN WITHOUT ASKING. They then cut holes in that board to access the vents and install hideous metal vent coverings over them. And the size of the vents make no sense compared to the diameter of the holes that were covered. I've been told by 2 carpenters that the work needs to be torn down and redone completely. Seemed good, but they are not responsive to emails and phone calls at all. Have tried mulitple times. They were very quick to come look at my roof and talked up the job, but will not provide a qoute or any follow up. Very unprofessional. They may be a gutter guard company that does other things too. read more

What a great find! - they do excellent work, completed my project in a single day, and my entire experience from start to finish was way beyond my expectations, and I can be kinda particular. The workmanship of the installation is really first class from end-to-end and I didn't have to supervise a single thing, and there was nothing I'd change.
