Hi, I need help for one week? Is this possible for in home care?

Hi Helena, with Home Instead San Francisco, this is absolutely possible. We often service clients with temporary needs, including individuals that seek short-term support after surgery or care for family members that are visiting. Give us a call at…

Can I get a care giver for 1 week?

Yes, we can provide care for one week. We typically see this when someone has had a surgery and needs short term care while they recover.

How much lead time do you need? I'm 80 years old and just now started feeling weaker?

Hi Andrea! Thank you for your question. We are open 24/7 and are generally able to send out one of our Care Managers for a free care consultation M-F 8AM to 5PM. From there, we can typically start care within 24-48 hours. That's a long way of saying…

Do you serve contra costa county?

We sure do! You can find the nearest office by entering the zip code of the area you would like service in: https://www.homeinstead.com/

The residents come from an incredible variety of backgrounds--architects, authors, physicians, nurses, teachers, business professionals, and many others. They are intelligent, engaging, well-traveled, and genuinely welcoming, making every day interesting and enjoyable. The atmosphere is peaceful, safe, and well-maintained, creating a true sense of home. The dining experience is exceptional, thanks to Chef Chris Sheldon, his cooks and servers. Chef consistently prepares delicious, thoughtfully crafted meals. The entire staff deserves recognition. From Carmelina and her housekeeping team to Leo and the maintenance team and to the activities director, Larry, everyone works tirelessly to create an engaging, comfortable, and active lifestyle for the residents. Their dedication, professionalism, and genuine care are evident every day. If you're looking for a senior community that offers excellent dining, an intellectually stimulating environment, compassionate care, and a warm sense of community, I highly recommend Ivy Living at The Carlisle.

Unfortunately for one of our loved ones, having dementia was an automatic disqualifier because as you will discover in your research of residential care facilities, the type of license the facility has determines the scope and kinds of services they offer, and therefore, the kind of resident/patient they can accept. I believe Kimochi Home can accept only "ambulatory" residents, my understanding that it means not necessarily you can walk on your own, but in an emergency situation, you have the cognitive ability to follow safety instructions. Still, meeting w the Kimochi Home director was invaluable, because Kimochi genuinely cares about seniors in the community, and she gave us very helpful advice. Plus, she put our loved one on a waiting list for both the Kimochi hot lunch delivery, and the Senior daycare program at Kimochi Home. For about 2-3 years, we were able to get a bit of caregiver respite when the Kimochi van came by to pick-up/drop-off our loved one for 1-2 days/week, from about 10am-3pm or so. It was basically "day care" for seniors, and for that you didn't have to be ambulatory. I highly recommend looking into Kimochi Home. They are good, caring people there.

Residents are under 24-hour supervised, non-medical care. Staff provides assistance with activities of daily living (ADL) such as bathing, dressing, and taking medications. Adult Social Day Care Program Seniors can enjoy a variety of social, cultural, and recreational activities in a supervised setting at Kimochi's Adult Social Day Care program. Bilingual staff trained in programming and providing services to seniors requiring social, emotional, and physical support develop a monthly activity calendar. Seniors feel safe, active, and entertained at day care, while families receive respite from caregiving responsibilities. Family members who care for a frail senior can rest assured that quality care and safety are provided.

They kept us fully informed of all her care. She was washed daily and bedding and clothing changed daily. All of our family was welcomed into their family. The nurses were extremely kind, honest, and conscientious in her care. The food delivered looked and smelled good. Parking can be difficult as it's public street parking with a two hour limit resulting in many trips to move our cars. Don't believe any one star reviews without clear examples of mistreatment while slandering staff. Crazy tirades on Yelp are not helpful.

She never walked again and the lack of appropriate care lead to her choosing medical aid in dying. They failed to return her pill dispenser and meds including opioids when she was transferred home. They never changed her out of her same pajamas the whole 10 days. Would not recommend unless no other option and then only for end of life care. Oh and for this, had to pay out of pocket $200/day and even for the full day despite being transferred home by 8 AM. When confronted, the staff and administrator was defensive and reluctantly helpful getting belongings and meds back- we had to make several trips back there.
