This Company lacks integrity and trust between clients and employees. Employees must call in upon arrival and call upon departure. The company does not allow open honest communication between client and caregiver about what's working and what's not working between the client and the caregiver. The staff at the company want to be in charge. An office staff person said 15 caregivers refused to return to my home. It is not helpful, respectful, or kind to tell someone that. One caregiver didn't want to return because there were too many tasks. A caregiver did not give my spouse his thickened liquid during the whole five hour shift. Caregivers have come an hour to two hours late, and one even left three hours early without explanation. read more

Had high hopes for this company. They come in for the sales pitch with fancy brochures and great expectations. What we got for $55 an hour was a young, inexperienced, no common sense girl who was extremely sweet but not trained sufficiently, would be on her phone or laptop during working hours. She let my 95 yr old father fall off his chair and I had to call in help when she wasn't able to get him off the floor. She was going to leave her shift with him sitting in the dining room where he would not have been able to get out of the chair. Luckily I have cameras all over the house and thankful that I was watching these incidents. There were many more but you get the gist. They don't introduce the person to you before the first day. She shows up with no idea of what she was going to do. A supervisor was supposed to provide introductions but that never happened. I just happened to be there and told her step by step what she was expected. They are by far the most expensive outfit but the least qualified individuals. As I read some of these "GOOD REVIEWS" for Home Instead Senior Care, I'm trying to figure out WHY my Uncle who served his country did NOT encounter the same treatment. The staff was not on time or even present when scheduled and if a staff member was present at their schedule time. They where not TRAINED PROPERLY to take care of my Uncle. I have been very happy with their service. They helped us during Christmas, and New Years. They came through big time!! This was on short notice too. Their caregivers, in my experience are all people that you can leave in your home, and have no worries. Weekend communication/coverage is superb. One minor blip though; one of the recent shifts was covered by someone who either had bad allergies or a cold. I did inform Home Instead that this is not an optimal situation, and they were very amenable. They promised that they would speak to caregiver, who otherwise was wonderful. Better Training Needed! We hired Home Instead to care for my elderly father after his release from the hospital. The office staff was friendly and assured us their home care workers would be able to help my dad with personal care. Wrong! One young man played on his phone an inordinate amount of the time and left his shift early two out of three times. Very Unprofessional! Another young gentleman seemed confused by how a fitted sheet fits on a queen bed and we had to totally remake my dad's bed later that night. What?! Both male employees told the agency they were "uncomfortable" returning to our house because my dad was "grumpy"- not combative... not abusive... just "grumpy." Well, what old guy wouldn't be grumpy after getting out of the hospital? We terminated Home Instead's services and are looking for something better. Verdict: Home instead needs to spend more on employee training and less on matching shirts and binders! read more

Home Instead Senior Care is THE WORST when it comes to taking care of our loved ones. We trusted them with the care of my elderly Uncle and they have failed us time and time again! He has been canceled on last minute and when they do send someone to take care of him they are NOT adequately trained! This company is supposed to make it easier for the families not cause extra stress and annoyance to the people that are just trying to make sure their loved ones are safe and taken care of properly!!! Home Instead is not reliable to care for there patients. Never have enough caregivers to be assign for a schedule patients. One of the care giver cook my father eggs in a microwave that plain ass lazy. I wouldn't feed it to the dogs. This is a proven fact who ever is screening thicare giver is definitely not doing a great job. If they are supposed to cook a meal for the patient be aware of there lack of cooking skills. Since day one I try to work out with this Home Instead agency of providing service for my father. It's always something with either Mary or Ruby smart mouth when talking with them regarding coverage for my father. This is there famous line sorry we have no care giver at this time. When I signed up with this agency Tim said if a care giver call off they will make sure there is a back up care giver in place you know that never happen. I don't understand how they stay in business hiring caregiver out of desperation with no training or how to care with patients with dementia.They just cut you off with no caregiver no advance notice with it comes to the Veterans. This agency is not to be trusted with your loved ones . Be aware of the lack of communication between the front office just tell you anything to get you off the phone. I can say more about this agency is definitely not the one you should referred you loved one too. read more

Company has a VA contract and they do a poor job taking care of our veterans in need. They're constantly canceling at last the minute saying we can't find anyone to cover. That's a lame excuse. You should always have adequate employees especially if you have a government contract. If I have a say, I wouldn't renew their contract. read more

Home Instead provided care for my husband for three years. All care providers they sent were professional and caring. My husband's main caregiver, LaTasha, was remarkable! She and my husband had a special bond and I knew he was well-cared for in my absence. She was caring, protective, encouraging, engaging, funny and always professional. My husband passed away two weeks ago. I miss LaTasha being in my home as often as she was, but we will always remain friends. She became a part of our family and I cherish the relationship she had with my husband. She made him laugh, encouraged him to exercise, fed him well and always respected him....a task that is not always easy to maintain when caring for a disabled loved one for a long period of time. I highly recommend Home Instead Senior Care if you need help caring for a loved one at home. read more

They have a contract with Veterans Administration but they treat Veterans horribly and never show up on time when they are supposed to care for their clients. They always have excuses being short staffed, because of Covid19, employee called out and they never come when family member is waiting for them. They provide very poor services to the clients they serve. Mary, and Ruby are the biggest Liars ever they have abandoned job sites were no show and always blame it on staffing issues. If they don't have the staff they should give up the contract and let another company take over the Veterans Contract. Mary and Ruby are very unprofessional, demeaning, and incompetent and fail to supply great patient care. Vivian is the only worker that showed up on time and was ready to get to work. Home In Stead needs to change the name to Useless In Stead. They need to be reported to the BBB for their substandard care they provide to the clients they serve. I don't even know where to begin with how amazing the staff and caregivers have been to my mother. If you are looking for a company that trains, provides support, and cares for their caregivers the way Home Instead does, you've picked the right company for your own family. My mother has advanced Alzheimer's and her constant supervision and needed care has been overwhelming for my family. My husband and I work full time, and knowing my Mom is being cared for daily brings us great peace of mind. We've had 4 different caregivers over the last year, even though we normally have the same girl. When other caregiver comes in to cover a shift, they are well versed and prepared to handle my mother's needs. They know she's going to tell them the same story dozens of times, and repeat that she showered already even though she hasn't. They are able to get her to shower most days, and have taught us skills to help us in our daily struggles with my mom's changing mind. We could not be more grateful to this company if we tried. Worst company ever . If they were not a VA contract I would have never used them . Their office staff lies , if you send in a report with a complaint about a care giver they drop you as a client and leaves a 100% service connected war veteran at home with no help . Their care givers buy special gifts for you , they attempt to massage your shoulders and back , they were caught going through your personal medication drawers and claim that I am a drug addict. Their company puts the bad mouth on you to other companies and care givers which means I have to be a hermit in my own home because Home Instead dropped me as a client because their employees suck . They are constantly on their cell phones , they hold and play with your service dog which for training purposes is not suppose to happen . Employees do not wear company shirts instead they wear very provocative low cut shirts , short , short skirts and very tight pants . Their office staff is very argumentative . They are trying to get me to pay for their employees parking , not my problem if they had to park at a meter and pay for it , I sure as hell wont pay for it not my problem . If you give them enough rope they will talk to the owner of the bldg. about you and also blacks will always stick together and every female black person in my bldg. knows all about who I am and telling them to stay away from this crazy person . These people are out of never , never land and know not one thing about caring for wounded veterans or elderly people . Find another company to deal with , HOME INSTEAD means they drop you as a client knowing you will be home bound instead of getting out . If they offer you to have Ronda be your care giver , be careful because she will take information about you and tell other people . She is the company spy and she knows exactly what you have in your home , she is the one that was seen going into my restroom and going through my medicine drawers ( PRESCRIPTION DRUGS FROM THE VA ARE IN THERE ) and then puts the word out I am a drug addict . AGAIN STAY AWAY THEY ARE USELESS. Homeinstead senior care has been taking care of our mother for several months now, up to 3 times a week. My brother and I are the only kids trying to assist mom who has dementia. Nether of us live in the area. Mom is, lets say a challenging client. Homeinstead has done a great job with looking after our mother and at the same time keeping my brother and I totally informed with any issues that come up. Their suggestions for any problems that occur have been a god send. It is very obvious to us that Homeinstead really knows their business. I would highly recommend them for home health care. P.S. Absolutely top notch service! I have had five different caretakers help me during my medical struggles from Home Instead and every single one of them has been incredible! This organization is easy to deal with, always personable and willing to serve. The caretakers are very helpful and kind. They are willing to bend over backwards to assist with whatever I need whether driving, house cleaning, preparing meals, shopping for food, keeping me company after surgery etc. Each caretakers is licensed and has had a background check and I feel I am in safe, great hands!
