Home Sweet Home is the best! My wife and I recently traveled to Europe and needed somebody to look after our cat while we were gone. The service we received from the people at Home Sweet Home (HSH) Pet Care went above and beyond our expectations. The people who operate this family owned business are both extremely professional and very down to earth. To start, the owners came to our house for a free consultation to meet us and meet our cat, to establish a level of comfort and make sure all the logistics would be fine. We really appreciated the time they took to come meet our pet and us before the first visit. We loved the fact that upon each home visit, we got a personalized e-mail as well as a picture of our little guy! It gave us a great level of comfort that not only was our cat getting what he needed but that the people looking after him actually cared. When we returned, our pet area was cleaner than when we left and we could tell that great care was taken with our pet and with our home. We don't have a good frame of reference for pricing for pet services but we thought the cost of the pet visit was a steal to begin with and then when we saw the high level of service, we could not have been more satisfied. Finally we were impressed with HSH's credentials, they have a long list of referrals and are fully insured / bonded etc. For such a small family owned company the service was really first class. We know HSH would be perfect for your pet care needs. When I moved to CT from NYC in 2012, I wanted to find a reliable and caring pet care service for my sweet 5 year cockapoo, Bella. After several weeks of research and interviewing potential dog sitting services I came across Home Sweet Home. I met with a representative at an easily scheduled home visit and I was very impressed with their attention to detail and quality of intake procedure. They answered all my questions and made me feel very comfortable leaving the care of my sweet girl in their hands. I travel a lot for my job and I wanted to make sure my furry baby would be taken care off any time we needed either a walk or overnight services. In the last couple of years, we have added a new dog to our family. HSH continues to provide wonderful care and love to our two dogs when we are away. My husband and I have busy schedules and sometimes an overnight for fun. I love the ability to schedule our visits on-line and I love the journals we receive after the visit are completed. These journals include pictures and a detailed account of how the visit went. My neighbor has complemented us on the HSH because they notice how their staff (Jenn or others) who visit our pups play with them and provide loving care. They also make it a point to clean our yard and bring in the mail as needed. I have found that HSH is very accommodating and they go above and beyond to provide a high quality first class pet sitting and care. We have even had a couple of emergencies due to family and they were able to support us and provide peace of mind by caring for our dogs as needed. As a former New York City girl, I can say that their prices are competitive, with the highest quality care. There have been a a couple of times I have decided to try other services but in the end my loyalty is with Home Sweet Home. There is no comparison! I will not trust my pet care needs to anyone else. They are the top in their field in Connecticut. In the last couple of years, as their reputation and business grew, they continued to provide their high quality pet care with our compromising the quality of their service. With most companies, you see a decline in customer service, however this has NOT been the case with this company. **This review is in regards to the cat sitting service. I have yet to utilize this company for its dog walking service. My H and I travel quite frequently and are often in a pickle to find someone to care for our two cats. For years we would pay BIL to drive up from Norwich and tend to them.. well, let's say he's in and out and whatever mess the two boys made were left there for us and he did the bare minimum. I searched thoroughly for a service in the WeHa area and after a recommendation from our amazing vet, I called HSH Pet Care. It was very easy to book an initial home walkthrough with two very nice girls. H and I explained the finickyness of our boys.. and the girls were happy to oblige. Through HSH Pet Care's online system, it was also super simple to book the appointments needed and arrange a time for the cat sitter to come. The day-of, the sitter(s- we prefer Anastasia, but there's one other girl who visits with) feed the boys, scoop out and discard the poop (SORRY) and also play with/pet the boys. When my H and I are away, we really appreciate the daily texts and emails the sitter(s) send. It's SO nice and calms my nerves since I'm the nutter butter who constantly fusses over the care of her furbabies. Since our initial meet and greet, it's been two years since my H and I have used this service multiple times and couldn't be happier. I'm the annoying person who calls because I repeatedly forget my login.. and they remember me (I have a unique maiden name)! Haha! We LOVE HSH petcare!! Meg, Chris, Bethany and the whole crew treat our animals like their own. My husband and I travel a lot and they have always accommodated us over the last 2.5/3 years. Last minute, holidays, emergencies, even in the snow storms they were there to take care of our dog and cats. They have gone above and beyond many many times...and even without asking. We were headed out of town and forgot to buy dog food & litter! They went to a store and bought some to get them through the time we were gone. They have taken out the trash and brought it in for us. Brought in mail and packages. They also referred us to a specialist for our sick cat and gave advice along the way. Many times our other cat has gotten sick on the sofa or floor and they cleaned it up for us. I never have to worry what I will come home to. They even cleaned up the broken, half eaten Christmas ornaments that my dog decided to chew. I must say that one of my favorite things that HSH does is text us with each visit! They have some funny commentary along with a pic of our animals so we are assured that they are safe and sound while we are away. Sometimes I wished they watched kids too!! I still give them 5 stars because they are worth every penny. However, we were clients around the beginning of the business and prices have increased each passing year. I don't mind paying it bc of the security I feel, but I wish there was some sort of incentive to keep booking with them. For example, buy 15 visits get one free or something for being a valued customer. We traveled A LOT and gave HSH a great deal of business, but as prices have increased with no incentives we have pulled back and tried to find friends to help or just bring our dog with us. Had there been incentives or kickbacks of some sort they probably would have gotten the missed business. Unfortunately, we have just moved to VA and can no longer use HSH. Now I need to find a company I trust as much as them. I wish them continued success and I know our dog and cat will miss them!! One star is 2 stars too many. They take any dog in just to make a buck. Doesn't matter if the owner brought them there or someone else. Then if the owner of the animal questions them they become belligerent. No apologies. Nothing. Would never recommend this place to anyone reputable. read more

I have used Home Sweet Home (HSH) Pet Care on quite a few occasions over the past few years. I have not had any complaints about their service or follow through, but what prompted me to write this review is in part due to the improvements that I have seen in the organization of the company as they have grown and also on account of the continued excellent service I have received from everyone there, from the pet sitters right up to the owner. When HSH takes care of my pets, I never worry. Chris seems to channel Cesar Milan and has managed to connect with my dog who typically trusts NO ONE outside of family. I can't say enough about Chris and the staff. We were in a bind as our prior service left us with no notice. We were able to meet and interview quickly so that we had coverage right away. Our dog is a rescue and a challenge which HSH is willing to take on. They were even able to suggest a trainer that deals with aggressive dogs and clueless owners. I also love the pet journals they email after every visit. I know it must take a few extra minutes of their day but gives a lot of comfort to the pet owner! Had been good about flexible scheduling, but be wary as I've found on more then 1 occasion they would walk my dog for LESS THAN HALF the time I bought. Its a bit deceitful to pay for the longer walks only to find they would walk my dog often for not even the minimum 15min time especially when paid for twice that. I feel a bit robbed by these guys and sorry for my dog whom I had initially thought was getting the long walks that he needs. read more

We've used HSH for cat sitting during out of town trips. We could not be more pleased with the quality of service and their attention to detail. They keep track of the many persnickety details of our cats' care. They even brush their teeth and hide treats for them throughout the house to dispel the cats' boredom. What a great experience we have with HSH Pet Care. We have used them twice for multiple days each time. The website is a very good booking tool, advising on their availability, which is reasonable. It allows us to put a lot of details about our pet, and they pay attention to those details. HSH did a preliminary walk through before the scheduled times. Then they showed up on schedule, played with and fed our cats. One of our cats is extremely shy, and they did very well with him. Their emails and photos kept us informed, and we had no problems.
