Great staff and doctors that truly love animals... they even have a song for our bunny and they go out their way to calm our anxious puppy.

We have been bringing our dogs here for years and have always had a wonderful experience. The front office staff is super friendly and the waiting room as well as exam rooms are always consistently clean and well maintained. We have two large senior dogs, one with ongoing medical issues and the entire team is always so kind and understanding. They are reasonably priced and never try to push "extras" on us. They always take the time to explain any diagnosis, treatments & next step options. We recently had to say goodbye to one of our dogs. The staff had us enter through a private entrance, which gave us a little comfort during such a sad time. Dr Begg was incredible. he explained every step of the process while being patient, understanding and so kind. We are so grateful for the support and compassion we received. read more

Roaring Brook Veterinary Hospital saved my cat's life. My beloved cat, Stella, required emergency surgery over the Summer of 2020 and RBVH accurately diagnosed the issue and was able to take her in for emergency surgery the next day, even during the height of the COVID-19 crisis. I was a healthcare worker in New York City at the time, but originally am from Connecticut. Due to the COVID surge in NYC, I was routinely working 80-100 hour weeks. After several months, started noticing that my cat was not acting like herself. I thought something serious might be happening I rushed her straight to Roaring Brook, where I had previously got my vet care, because I knew I could 100% trust them. Long story short, it turns out she was eating my hair ties and had an obstruction. They were able to take her into surgery the next day and save her life. They were also very non judgmental about it, which I appreciated because I felt absolutely terrible about the whole ordeal and felt like the worst cat mom in existence. I am happy to report that 2 and a half years later she is 100% recovered and her normal, happy self. I cannot be more grateful to Roaring Brook for saving her, and am super vigilant about my hair ties now. She is expected to live a full, happy life. read more

My dogs are well cared for, and I never feel like I'm being upsold or ignored or rushed. They've seen me through losing a dog with cancer after a battle of a few months, and losing another dog to cancer really unexpectedly, and are helping me make two senior dogs comfortable as they age with arthritis. I have to sound off about this today. I have used this practice for 20+ years and have always had great experiences with the care I've received. It's a great practice with great staff and I would recommend them highly Lately however....I've had some emergencies arise with my elderly pets, and have been unable to be seen by them because they are " booked solid" I think they need to leave openings for regular patients that need them on short notice, rather than sending people off to an ER vet. Poor communicators, failed to administer prescription meds for dog after clear direction and multiple email requests. My white dog came home with urine stains and fecal matter on her feet. We are so grateful for dr. Dave, his assistant and Mr. Burns. The Roaring Brook staff has helped us say goodbye to our best friend of 13 wonderful years. Our dog Ripper has been with us in Hawaii, moved with us to New York City, and took his last breath at home in my arms here in CT. This very difficult process was so incredibly peaceful. The dr was very calm and patient, took his time to slowly relax Ripper before the final shot. Everyone spoke softly, and gave us the support we needed. We didn't feel rushed, this was not just part of business sort of thing, it was very compassionate. My dog is always happy to arrive at RBK and she looks forward to playing with the other dogs in day care while she's there. Obviously, dogs can't tell you whether they like a place or not, but when I put her in the car and head to RBK to drop her off for a vacation, she jumps out of the car eagerly, and almost runs in the front door. When the staff come out to greet her and take her back, her tail is up and wagging, and she is excited to go. I can't ask for more than that. No guilt, and I feel she's well cared for. read more

Love this vet! I have a new dog and he woke up on a Sunday with ear pain. I was desperate calling vets in my area and most were closed or full. I took a chance calling here and they got me in immediately. The vet tech there is wonderful and really assured me that they would take care on my dog. At first I was very impressed by this place but I have seen a major decline in customer service, care of the facility and especially my pup. I asked to have my dog washed after a day of daycare. You pay before pick up and let me tell you...when I got her in the car she reeked so bad I had to roll down the windows. It was unbearable. I will never take my dog back there again. Extremely dissatisfied with the veterinary services. My dog had been dealing with an ear infection for months. I have follwed every directive they suggested; tests, flushes, food change and finally had the dog sedated to clean out his ears. During a follow up visit, the veterinarian-Abraham Bloom, proceeded to tell me the dog's right ear was impacted. He had no idea that the dog was sedated a week earlier to remove debris from his ears and that it was his left ear that was infected. He corrected himself after he reviewed the chart after I questioned him. Then he proceeded to grill me on the sound of the swooshing in the dog's ear when rubbed. He had the dog with him! Should'nt he be able to determine what is going on with the ear? INCOMPETENT HACKERS! DO NOT TAKE YOUR PETS TO THIS MONEY GRUBBING FACILITY. read more

Not happy with Roaring Brook Kennel. We periodically board and noticed a decline in organization, lost reservations and paperwork starting in June of 2018. Last weekend, picked up our (small dog) - she was soaked in urine and based on the amount of food that was used, had not been fed regularly during her 4 day stay. Manager refunded my money and offered a free groom - not enough for me to risk leaving our little girl here again. read more

I have a husky and a lab mix that LOVE coming here. I started them first in doggy daycare. To be eligible, your dog must first pass an evaluation. They must be routinely vaccinated, especially for canine flu. I'm so glad to know that RB instills these rules though; I know my dogs are safe and having fun. After a few months at daycare, I had a weekend trip and decided to board them here as well, especially since there's a package that allows them to play all day with the dogs at daycare. I have now boarded them at least five times, and always feel so comfortable that they're taken care of. They also can board in the same room together to stick within their little pack, and it also cuts the cost a few dollars. The reason I'm giving them 4 stars and not 5 is simple: they care more about the dogs than about us humans (which isn't even a bad thing in my opinion). This means that the staff members don't light up to see your face, they light up when they see your dog's face. And when professional customer service is called for, they do a fine job. You pay for what you get, and you get an excellent facility for your dog, so expect a little higher pricing than most kennels. However, they charge by the night rather than the day, and I find this a huge difference and awesome practice! For example, if you drop off your dog at 9 am on a Friday, and pick them up before closing on Saturday, you only paid for A one night stay! My last comment is about the kennel manager, Dan. I read a previous comment that someone wasn't happy with him, and I have to admit how surprised I am to hear that! When those bad customer service/human interactions have happened to me, Dan was beyond helpful in rectifying their mistake. He's personable enough, and absolutely in love with the animals. That's what matters right? He also reached out to me personally after I filled out a customer service questionnaire with a few minor complaints. In all, roaring brook kennels is definitely the place to go for doggy daycare and for boarding. read more

I cannot say enough about how wonderful the staff is here, they are positive, energetic, friendly, so loving and genuninely care so much about your pet! I walk in with my shy cat and once the nurses get their hands on him he is loving up to every one of them and Dr. Hersey is his favorite! I am quite saddened by my recent interaction with the staff at Roaring Brook Kennels. I have used them quite a bit with other dogs and I was always satisfied. There was a miscommunication regarding my dog's vaccination records and as a result, they gave my dog a vaccine that she had already received. When I questioned the staff the answer I received was that I signed the paper. The paper I signed was for what I believed to be an emergency contact form. It was not gone over with me in any detail at all. When I picked up my dog today and questioned the vaccination, I was understandably upset. The staff refused to remotely take any responsibility for the mix up saying "you signed the paper" repeatedly. When I pointed out the paperwork from my vet and asked why I wasn't called, I received the same line "you signed the paper". Soooo, they promised me that the manager Dan would return my phone call. When no call came, I called again. When I mentioned to Dan that I had been waiting for him to call (4 hours) Dan became very defensive and told me that he didn't have to answer to me about his hours! What????? He was extremely rude to me and basically told me that I wasn't telling the truth and that his staff didn't make mistakes. The only human that never made a mistake walked on water and died on the cross 2000+ years ago. During this phone call I was very obviously upset and this seemed to make Dan mad as I was told to take my business elsewhere. It wasn't until after I told Dan that I have been in customer service for 35 years and that I was not trying to be difficult that I received a very half hearted apology for the mixup. I wasn't looking for blood, I simply wanted to know why I wasn't called. I was very worried that the duplicate vaccination would be detrimental to my dog's health. To top it off, when I was checking out I was told that my total bill was $70+ and when I got home my receipt was for $58. That's 2 mistakes with paperwork within 24 hours. Someone is not paying attention! So, Dan and crew at Roaring Brook, I will happily take my dog elsewhere. Your lack of compassion for humans seriously makes me question your ability to take care of animals that have no voice. I don't know many businesses that can afford to turn business away or that don't understand that there are two sides to every story and somewhere in the middle is the truth. Should I have asked more questions about the paper I signed, absolutely BUT, did I deserve the treatment I received from Dan and staff? Absolutely not. There are other kennels around that value your business. I suggest you use them. read more

I have a small-senior dog. He does boarding during my trips. For his entire life(13 years old), he was ok to go a kennel. But when he goes here, he shows reluctance and discomfort. I did not know until I read a review from here. In addition, I am pretty sure from my previous experiences with different vets, they overcharge and add more vaccines that are usually not asked by other facilities. Even the annual check came out three times more than I usually paid for the old town's vet. Kennel review: we left our lab here for a long weekend and did not get a chance to tour the facility until we were dropping her off and headed for the highway. Had we toured beforehand, we probably would have found an alternative accommodation. The kennel environment seems clean but it's a little "cold" with worn concrete cells. Each kennel has its own doggie door to the outside which is also a concrete slab covered run with chainlink fencing all around. I guess this is where they are meant to do their business which I can only imagine our dog having trouble with since she's trained to go in grassy areas. As I understood it, Supposedly the dogs could go in and out all day but all of the dogs were in and it was a barking madhouse. We were told tat it was still a little too humid for them to go out. Our dog is a big girl without any real neurosis so we figured she could handle it. But our hearts went out to the small dogs and especially to the dogs in the "geriatric" area. It's just a cold cold cold, fluorescent cave. We have had pugs and The pugs there in the cage looked mortified. I just think you need to tour this facility and know your dog before leaving him / her there overnight. I think it would be traumatic for a sensitive dog. We did sign up and paid the additional money for the daycare. We were not shown that play area and you just have to trust that your dog is getting this experience. My brother-in-law had his dog in daycare in China where they emailed or texted you photos of your dog at play outside every day. It was a nice touch! read more

The groomer sevices are convienent, however my siberian huskie ended up twice with dry skin patches after her bathing and brush out. We stopped bringing her for anything other than toenail clipping. I do not recommend kennling a dog that has anxiety and issues with unknown kennel mates. The staff ignored all written instructions that were discussed with the staff, her trainer and the kennel manager while on an extended european trip. The trainer pulled my dog from the kennel when it was apparent the staff was not truthful in their assesment of his anxiety level. A 52 lb dog went in and a 30 lb dog came out in an almost complete catatonic state after 6 days of not eating and tearing his dew claw pads. It was very disheartening to come home to his significant distress, even after he was abducted by the trainer to a home environment. The website touts how well trained and welfare oriented the kennel is. I am justfiably very reluctant to recomend their kennel services to anyone. Their day care service is good and the dogs do recieve good socialization when there. Training classes are good as well. read more

Carter, Redd, and Duke all love going to Roaring Brook Veterinary Hospital. With three active large breed pups you can imagine how often we go! The receptionists are friendly and efficient and able to get you appointment in a timely manner. All of the vets truly care about each animal and it shows with the time they spend examining, evaluating, and explaining my options at each visit. The vet techs give my pups the extra TLC they love and keeps them coming back wagging their tails! I also love the convenience of daycare, grooming, and boarding all under one roof. We have been using Roaring Brook Kennel for a few years. Recently we moved out of the Canton area and down to Branford CT. Last week we took a week long trip to Block Island for our annual trip and I was tasked with finding boarding. Of course there are good places down here I'm sure, but I just couldn't risk leaving our small yorkie/ bischon at a place that I didn't know 100% would take care of him as much as we do. Our dog Charlie was able to get some updated medical services since they have their vet hospital on the same property and was treated like a king. RBK accommodated his "picky" eating habits and took my (maybe too ridiculous) food and eating requirements as I like Charlie to always have the option for good food and not just dog food. I got emails all through out trip on how he was doing and what he was up to. They emails were so detailed I could honestly tell RBK was being truthful and actually reporting their interactions. Extremely worth going about an hour out of or wayeach way to get Charlie to Roaring Brook. Staff as crazy busy but always give you the time and smile! The high school drop outs that work behind the counter of this poor excuse for a kennel don't care at all about the emotional, or physical well being of your animal. They would rather sit on their ass and chat away with one another than do their actual job. Absolute bottom of the barrel people. One wouldn't expect it that hard to be able to do their job especially when working with animals comes so easily and natural to others. Sadly that is not the case here. read more

The staff and personal are excellent. However the arbitrary rate increases by this company is rediculous! A parrot is in a cage. For years they charged $10. per day. Then $12.50 per day. In the last year the price went up to $15.00 per day. I just came back from vacation and had my parrot stay over for 12 days. I was then was charged $300.!! My math told me it would be $300.00 I phoned the receptionist who then referred me to another person and was informed the normal rate is $37.50 per day. I explained they would now be charging me for a dog rate. I was able to receive a credit of $120. But I was told the discounted rate for my parrot would be $25.00 per day. Very upset with the arbitrary price increases!!! my parrot is a favorite with staff and loves the African grey. It appears the high level management, not the staff, Are discriminating against a parrot. I have been a customer of over 10 years. Dr. Hershey who left the company in the last few years was a bird vetinarian. Now that she left this company has changed for the worst. BewRe bird owners!!!! read more

The staff and management at Roaring Brook are second to none, giving our Havanese the attention, love, and care he desperately craves. Exercise programs, comfy boarding facilities, and friendly hugs always await him. And the price is right! We actually drive up an hour and half to specifically board him when we are out of town. We take our 2 Standard Poodles there for care and they have always been wonderful and accommodating (even when one of our dogs broke her leg on a weekend just before they were due to close). I had to leave town, on very short notice, for a family emergency. I had no choice but to board my dog BO for 11 days. That is a long time for his first stay in a kennel. I just adopted him this past Spring while on vacation in Beaufort, SC. He was 7 1/2 yrs of age and had been in a shelter for over 6 months. I was very concerned about boarding him and worried about how he might react to being back in a multiple dog environment. Turns out that was a needless worry. The staff was professional, welcoming and very friendly. I chose a package that included 2 walks a day to ensure some personal attention. He loved them. I checked in with them after 2 days. He was behaving fine but the Staff was concerned because he was not eating his meals. I explained that I usually included a little chicken on top. They went right out and bought him some and that problem was solved. Not only that but they began bringing BO up front to the reception area hoping he would feel more comfortable being near someone. They told me he was a "People" dog. He came home happy and relaxed. This is service way above and beyond what I expected. Both of us are very grateful for your care. As a client for over 15 years, I cannot say enough good things about Roaring Brook Veterinary Hospital, Kennel & Daycare. All 4 veterinarians and the hospital staff go above and beyond to make client's comfortable and informed during appointments & procedures. The kennel & daycare are both run exceptionally well with attention to every little detail. My 9-year old shepherd attends daycare weekly and boards 30+ days a year and absolutely loves the staff. Very dissatisfied. I brought my chicken in to be put down. My regular vet was not available so this was the closest avian doctor. My bird was clearly not doing well and completely beyond repair. I was very clear in letting the staff and doctor know she needed euthanasia. I was charged for an exam($69) and euthanasia ($40). While waiting for my chick to be euthanized I reviewed my bill. I questioned the charge for the exam. They said for legal purposes they have to charge for an exam. I understand that. I asked for a discount because she was obviously was beyond any repair and the exam was not really done. The secretary asked the doctor but he would not offer a discount. I will not return here again. My regular vet only charges me $60 total to euthanize a chicken. Next time I will wait until my vet is available. read more

We have taken our pets to Roaring Brook for many years and would rate them 10 stars if we could. We have had two pets become very sick and almost die... the vets and staff saved them both. In addition, when it came to the end of of life for our 13 year old lab, they advised us to come during their lunch hour so that we could have complete privacy for this sad event. They gave us as much time as we needed with our boy to say goodbye. they are animal lovers as well as business owners. I brought my beloved bratty dog, Darwin Louise, to Roaring Brook this past weekend for a 2-night stay. We were unhappy with another kennel in the area, and decided to give Roaring Brook a try. I can honestly say that calling it a "pet resort" is appropriate! It's immaculately clean, and the staff do an excellent job of spoiling pets in their owners' absence. They give you a "report card" detailing how your pet behaved during their stay, and offer to send you text updates as well. This is the only time where Darwin wasn't a stressed-out smelly mess after boarding. They offer several package deals for boarding/activity, and the prices are reasonable. The only caviat I can offer is that they require the canine flu vaccine, and that a bordatella vaccine be within 6 months. This wasn't disclosed to me when I booked, but the vet on premesis was happy to provide the vaccines. All in all, Roaring Brook is a great place for your pup (or kitty)! read more
