Great Barbecue place in downtown Columbia, SC. It has an authentic rustic feel inside. We ordered the wings as an appetizer and we all agreed that they were outstanding. They use a dry rub on the wings that made them very unique. Many people rave about the brisket and it's very good but I think the pulled pork is even better! The pork absorbed the fabulous smoke flavor better. They have a variety of sauces on all of the tables including the Mustard based sauce which is a South Carolina thing. I tried several and I was very impressed! Cheers!

Home Team is a popular bbq joint that serves meat by the pound or platter. They have a large selection of bbq sauce - the sweet one is da bomb! We had a brisket and pulled pork platter with Mac n cheese and collard greens. It came with a biscuit, pork rinds and pickles. We also enjoyed the banana pudding with cookies as dessert. Service is very friendly and informative in a large space with booths and high tables. In the menu's non-alcoholic section, they offer thc sparkling drinks from Columbia.

Staff was nice. Lots of seating. Plenty of TVs if you want to watch a game. The menu is simplistic which I appreciate. An overly complicated menu means something is inevitably not being done well. I ordered the full rack of St Louis Style ribs. They were good. They had a nice smoke ring to them. I tried several of the vinegar based sauces and the only one I was somewhat drawn to was the "hot red." For me, it was not hot at all but it served its purpose. If you enjoy vinegar based BBQ, this would be a great spot to check out. Reasonable prices. For us out of town folks, apparently the Alabama White Sauce is Dukes Mayo with seasonings. I opted out of that adventure. Happy tasting!!

Heard about this place so decided to drop by to try it out. The lighting first got me when I walked in because it's kind of dark so pull out that flashlight if you can't see the menu. Parking is also pretty open here so that shouldn't be an issue. On to the food! I got the bbq plate with chicken and pulled pork. The chicken was great. Cooked well and tender. The pork on the other hand was a little dry and I kept getting some tough parts. Probably would skip that next time. The Mac is ok and if you upgrade to the tots, the portion is worth the upgrade price. I wasn't too much a fan of the sauces available on the table. The sweet one wasn't really sweet to me and a little too runny for my personal liking. The drink I had, which I sadly forget the name but is a speciality was great! Just wish it had a little less orange juice because it stuck out. Overall if you want some bbq in Columbia try it out! It was a packed house here.

It's a bit noisy and the TVs are very distracting. But the Brisket sandwich and tater tots were amazing! Best food in Columbia I've had in the last 3 years. I'd drive across the state to eat here again. Our server seemed distracted, but genuinely trying to do a good jobs and make sure we had a good experience.

unfortunately home team was mid. i heard so many people rave about this place so i figured to give it a try. the customer service was great. the hostess was super friendly both when we were seated and when we were leaving. our waiter provided excellent service as well. he was great with his timing and with our refills. the speed of service was great as well as the food came out quickly. everything looked great upon arrival so i was excited. til i took a bite of the pulled pork lol. it was room temperature at best and super dry. it definitely relied on the support of one of the sauces they make in house. i tried most of them (vinegar, home team hot, mustard and sweet red to name a few) and they elevated the pork to a palatable level. the collards were ok, the mac and cheese needed salt and seasoning but the star in my opinion was the chicken. although on the smaller end, it was seasoned to the tee and was the only hot thing on my plate. the pork rinds were a really nice touch as i wanted something crunchy but didn't want to order an entire appetizer. the pickles and onions were also amazing! all in all it gave fast casual vibes. i might try them again but at the price point and the lack of flavor it might be a stretch.

Stopped in for a quick cocktail and snack. It wasn't too packed which is the atmosphere I was totally looking for. The service was great! The two bartenders were very friendly. The brisket slider was great. I wish they came in twos with the price. There was a free amount of brisket on the slider. It also had flavor. The coleslaw could use some vinegar. The margarita hit! Also, it's decently priced. This spot fulfilled everything I was looking for in that moment.

I wrote a review a year ago on Google giving it a five star rating. (https://maps.app.goo.gl/wFwpi2LyUH92kxZk8?g_st=ic) And before that review was written, I had eaten at the Charleston branch a few times. But over the past year things have gone down. While the food still has great taste, the quantity of what you get for the price you pay is unbalanced. ($26 for the meal that is pictured). In addition to that unbalance, my to go order, while correct, failed to provide the basic necessities (plastic ware to eat and napkins).

One my favorite places! The wings are soooo good and really I haven't had anything bad on the menu. Game changer is always a go whenever I go.

The best combination of quality food, unique drinks, casual but attentive service, and lively atmosphere in South Carolina! I've been 100's of times and it consistently delivers.

Ordered takeaway with the family. We ordered a couple children's cheese burgers, tater tot appetizers, a regular cheeseburger, chicken tenders, couple of salads (one with pulled pork and the other with brisket) and, queso dip with chips. Total came out to approximately $96. What's hot - Menu. Good variety. There's meats, veggies, and even a few dishes for vegans. - Quality. With the exception of the heat of the food, which I explain below, their food is pretty good. Their sauces are pretty good, with a few (all of which were red, so I cannot tell you exactly what kind of sauce they are) actually having a spicy kick. Their queso is a pretty good flavor, as well. The texture of their queso is nice and thick, with a delicious combination of some mix-ins. - Portions. Fairly good and enough to get you full. To be fair, we all ordered dishes enough for one person. None of us ordered their combination platters, which appear to be pretty big, with enough for leftovers. - Price. For the portions, it's good value for money. For example, my salad is approximately $13, plus an additional $4 for the brisket. The tater tots appetizer is approximately $8. That we paid a little less than $100 for food for a family of 6, that's pretty reasonable. What's not - Service. The app gave us a specific time to pick up our order. I arrived at the restaurant on time and our order wasn't ready until 20 minutes later. That meant that most, if not all of our food, was cold by the time we ate (bc driving home took about 15 mins). They appear fairly busy on the weekends. When I arrived to pick up the order, there were several people waiting in the bar area for tables to free up. My point is to be prepared to wait. - Menu. The description of their food on their menu is fair and not very helpful. This is specific to their sauces, which they describe as red, green, hot, etc.... Not descriptive at all. Final answer Not bad and would be willing to return, but not a first choice.

Omg this food was awesome. The service was top tier. I ordered so many things and they were all yummy to my tummy. They have a sleeve of sauces for you to try. You are sure to find your favorite sauce because I know I did. They have a sauce made with mustard that I for sure knew I wasn't going to like but that was my favorite. I brought two bottles home with me. So if you are ever in Columbia South Carolina please try Home Team BBQ you will definitely fall in love.

Home Team was alright. Now, let me preface this review by stating that I only patronized the bar, and as such, cannot comment on the BBQ or food. The ambiance of the restaurant was pretty cool, the problem being that they did not do a good job whatsoever of maintaining cleanliness at the bar. Half-empty bottles and glasses littered the bar area, when they could have been picked up and dumped out pretty easily. I ordered a seltzer, which wasn't necessarily bad, but I was never asked my preference for which flavor I preferred, which was kind of odd. All-in-all, my takeaway from Home Team was that the ambiance was very cool, but that they need to do a better job of managing the bar.

I called and tried to place a Togo order and they do not allow for that. They did say though that they keep serving customers even if it's past closing. So took the drive to the other side of Columbia and it was very much worthwhile. They sell out of things and so if things are cross off the menu, then you should have went earlier. I missed out on the smoked links. It was pretty quiet for a Sunday afternoon and there were not that other many people in the dining area. Hopefully, that's just because it's a Sunday in South Carolina. The burnt ends, wings, wings, collards, beans, corn bread and rich with hash we're all stand outs. The staff was very friendly and helped make this place a gem that I'll highly recommend.

I feel like barbecue spots might follow a similar playbook regarding meats, smoke, sides, and…read moresauce, but they certainly are not created equal. When I was visiting my sister in Columbia, South Carolina, she told me about City Limits Barbecue and since there was only one day on our calendar that they would be open, our schedule was set. We got there pretty early after they had opened, but there's still was a line out the door. A little bit into our wait in line the owner/chef came out to talk us through the menu, his process, and recommendations. This was such a cool touch. I loved hearing about everything that he put into the product and the passion he has for his cooking. As you can imagine... The food was SPECTACULAR. Look, the brisket was absolutely top-notch and this beef rib was possibly the most tender chunk of meat I have ever had. We also got a half pound of their chopped whole hog option with crispy skins, and while it was delicious and flavorful, it didn't have the smoke or barbecue flavor without sauce that I was looking for. Of course, we had to go with practically an appetizer sampler of the sides and if I would've been able to put the food away, I would have just ordered one of everything. The collard greens were really good and not overly bitter, this sweet jalapeño coleslaw was maybe one of my favorite coleslaw recipes I've ever had, but the star of the show in my opinion were the sweet beans which was what most people would call baked beans. The amount of time, effort, and attention to every flavor in these beans was 10/10. Talk about bringing a humble ingredient to life. The cornbread was as amazing as you would imagine and the carrot cake was delicious. If you're looking for something unique with their barbecue, opt for the brisket sandwich with chili con queso or the Texicano. I was being a purist snob and just wanted the beef rib, but I stole a bite of my sister's sandwich and holy cow... Starve yourself the day before you visit, arrive early, and prepare to have a religious experience.
