When he arrived, he really took the time to listen to our concerns and even asked to see some photos to get a better idea of what we were dealing with. After taking a look, he explained that the issue was actually outside the scope of what he usually inspects. But instead of just walking away, he stuck around, explained everything clearly, and gave us some super helpful advice. You can tell John really knows his stuff. He was professional, honest, and didn't try to sell us on anything unnecessary. In fact, he insisted on not charging us, saying he likes to "sleep peacefully at night." That says a lot about his character. He even sent us detailed suggestions on how to handle the problem--what kind of work would be needed, the materials to use, and even what kind of handyman to look for. He also gave us a few referrals to get started. We were originally planning a much more expensive fix, but thanks to his knowledgeable advice, we are able to switch to a more practical option and hence cut the cost in half. Despite having completed our home inspection many months ago, as we settled into our home, we realized small things here and there that we didn't notice earlier. Every time we encountered something new, we thought any one of these questions - What can be causing this? How did this happen? How can we fix this? Will this cost much? Is this a small or big problem? The bottom line was where do we go from there?! ... JOHN to the rescue! Every time we had a question, not often, but the few times we did, we took John up on his generous offer of reaching out to him and, NOT ONCE, did John fail to respond within 1 day! Not only has John been extremely cordial and professional with every communication we had with him, but he takes the time to write out detailed, technical and specific instructions on how we could resolve our home issues. The inspector did a thorough inspection of our entire home take took about hour and half and pointed out issues and concerns along the way. He then went over a strategy of areas to test, and costs and ultimately we reached a budget that made sense and we agreed with. In less than a week we heard back with testing results and an e-mailed report that we took to remediation company which they used to clean up our home and bring back to normal. They also helped attack the source of our mold problem (leak behind washing machine and issue with air conditioner) so that the problem goes and stays away. We've never hired a mold inspection company before, but found this company to be very professional and extremely knowledgeable. During the inspection and on the call to go over results, we learned a lot of helpful information and definitely feel the service provided here was valuable. Highly recommend Certified Mold if you think you have a mold or moisture problem.
