This place perpetually has a long checkout line. They have fine selections but the manager or corporate does not care to solve the checkout line problem. Either add self-checkout or more clerks. I've left twice after walking in, seeing the line and deciding it isn't worth my time. read more

On top of that, they tout deeply discounted prices for their much coveted high end merchandise. Perpetually overflowing shelves and racks make this a bargain hunter's dream come true. But there's a catch. What you don't spend in dollars for those hidden treasures you will pay for with your time via the checkout process. All too often it involves standing and waiting in a massive line moving at a snail's pace to reach the registers. On numerous occasions this scenario has led to the total abandonment of the items I've so carefully chosen. Boy! Customer Service is EVERYTHING! Don't we all agree??! I can give anybody a pass for having an off day, but rudeness & total disrespect, disregard is uncalled for, zero excuse!!! That's EXACTLY what happened at the Home Goods in Highland Village@3192 407 FM. I posted my receipt for proof of my shopping day. First let give you some background on me as a Home Goods loyal customer! I shop weekly at the 3 Home Goods near my Home, just Not this location. The location in Highland Village I only shop once a month, sometimes twice during the Holidays. I Love shopping at Home Goods so much I own their rewards MasterCard & use it towards other purchases, like for gas, groceries, etc. Well, on 2/09/2021 I shopped at this location & encountered the rudest, pushiest employee, ever! The receipt doesn't have the name of the employees on it but I believe her name started with a "J". I am checking out & "J" asks me if I would like to donate to the Diabetes Association? I answer no, thanks I donate locally to my City Food Bank, my Schools, my Neighborhood Association, (Flag Program) & the Animal Shelter. I even walk the dogs at the shelter, so they get to stretch their legs, get human touch. I'm Good I answered. She rudely says it's only a $1! I say, you know a $1 here, a dollar there, it adds up. I would rather like to see my dollars at work, hence My Neighborhood. So she's bagging my purchases & I ask if I could please have a separate bag for my throw pillows (picture posted) since I was going to store them in a closet. And I didn't want my adorable pillows to get damaged on the drive home. Can you believe that rude woman boldly said with sarcasm, I'll do it for a $1! OMGosh! Really?!!!! I had to donate a $1, Lol!!!! My Dear Friend & I couldn't wait to get out of that story! Upon arriving home I did NOT arrive with all my purchases, I'm missing some cloth dinner napkins & a package of readers! I guess I needed to donate more to receive all of my packages! Another thing, businesses need to realize is that donating IS a personal choice! And it's Not all monetary. Sometimes it's your time which has more value. Now days some folks are barely hanging on & can't afford to donate even $1. That trip to the grocery store is a hardship & they want to hold their head up high. Or that that small trinket they purchase at Home Goods, Good Will or wherever is the reward of a difficult day or week. We all can get dollared to death!!!!! My belief is that these Big companies need to do the donating, NOT the customers! I choose where to shop & who I wish to donate my money & time. I don't understand why this location hasn't gotten it together. I refuse to even enter the store during the holidays but even 3pm on a random Tuesday in June is a 20 min+ wait in line. No thank you. If you love standing in line, this is the store for you. Not only do they never have enough cashiers, the ones working like to dilly dally between taking customers. I hear stores are understaffed but there are always employees out on the floor, not helping people but "stocking", chitchatting or sitting on their phones. My mom and I were in line for 45 minutes while we watched what we could only assume was management stand in a group of 5 while laughing and joking behind the checkouts.....maybe try jumping in and helping out. I leave the store half the time empty handed only because I don't have time to wait in the ridiculous line. read more

Thanks to the untrained employees (& I mean all of them including the managers) with full regard to using the store card digital function on the phone app my enthusiasm to shop here has once again fizzled out! Sad but this issue truly seems to only be at the Highland location - my closest location! Once again I had A Lot of things to buy & started to ring up when I was told they don't know how to help me use the (this time BROKEN) phone app & then I was told that there is no match for a card with the info I gave! Frankly they embarrassed me by the last thing (my ID produced nothing in their system)! I left my over $200.00 in purchases there at the counter instead of using another credit card AGAIN! First of all, I absolutely love shopping at HomeGoods; however, I must agree with the numerous complaints about the long lines at the Highland Village store. It is a combined TJMAXX & HG store .. a shopper's dream, with a huge variety of clothing, bath, beauty & decor items + misc food selections, at great prices! However, the long, slow moving lines, are an EVERY day issue at this location. There are several check out stations, but only an average of 4-5 are actually open. Yes, if you really must have your "get it now or it's forever gone find", be prepared for at least a 45 minute wait .. or LONGER! I have tried different days & hours, & it remains the same. I have walked in, to seek a specific item, looked at the line & walked out. I have also shopped, after seeing the line was short, only to find it had grown, significantly, when I was ready to check out, so I put things back on the shelves & left. Once, I arrived at the store when it opened, to return an item. I went straight to the check out stations & finally got through .. with only 3 other customers in front of me. What luck! Holiday shopping is on its way & the lines will be, as one reviewer stated, "wrapped around the store"! This HG store is losing customers & I'm one of them! The lines must be dealt with, because they are as frustrating as standing in line at most under staffed USPS post office's .. only much worse! read more

last 3 times at this store in highland village tx the lines have been RIDICULOUS. today it wrapped around from front to BACK. there is something obviously wrong with management. last time i called the store while i was in line and asked if they were aware of what was happening and she said that they have a procedure for checking out that takes time and were understaffed. that was last month and still have not figured this problem out. i'm going to another one not too much farther from here from now on. read more

The store has so many great bargains in all departments BUT the length of time you wait in the checkout line is ridiculous!!! And often you have cashiers all at one register trying to solve problems. Very frustrating. And it continues to get worse and it's not even a holiday season. I will continue to go but only when I have plenty of time to wait. Home Goods is a great store. I can't wait until the finally open the one in Denton. I love Home Goods, but tend to not visit as often because I tend to have little self control every time I go. I decided to drop in and browse as I waited for my next appointment. I know how I can get, so I left my debit card and only took a small amount of cash. (Look at me being responsible!-GO ME!). When I went in, I instantly regretted leaving my debit card, but remembered that chase was just done the street. (See how fast responsibility went out of the window? lol). I was determined to stay focused (actually my car note is due and the way these funds are set up, purchasing more than a reusable bag would have the repo man at my door, ha!). Anyway, I browsed around the store and wanted to take half of the store home with me. I don't know if being "in between funds" makes everything look extra nice, but the store carried some really nice items. The kitchenware and furniture was very impressive. They also had some Really nice rugs, but they were a bit too pricey ($99-$399). The store was so nice that I thought about applying, but remembered that I didn't want to work retail anymore. This store made me want to reconsider. The only con was the back wall that had the stationary/ office items. Everything was a bit picked over and A bit messy. I'm sure it is not like that always and someone just needed to take a little time to attend to it. I passed by several employees during my visit and each one had a genuine smile and seemed to enjoy their job. read more

In general I love this store. It's great for amazing deals and gifts for people. Today though I learned that the registers turn off at exactly 10pm and cease to function if there are people in line. At least that's how the associate led me to believe when it was 10 mins until closing and I was finishing up grabbing one item. I was walking towards grabbing my last item when who I am assuming was the manager on duty asked me if I needed help with anything. I politely declined when she then informed me that the registers were going to be shutting down shortly. So I didn't get my other items and went to the front of the store. Instead of saying the registers are going to shut down why not be honest and just inform people that the store is about to close. read more

I called on Sunday to make sure they had a specific item in the store; drove here from Carrollton to get the item; they had already put it back on the self; they refused to look it up in their system; they said they had a 2 hour hold policy. They said it was sold out without ever looking it up. Every other HomeGoods I went into has better customer service then this location. I will not be back here. The general manager shouldn't claim to want to provide good customer service if her support system doesn't believe in it. I still got $80 worth of products because I really do like the stuff they sell there. I am 8 months pregnant and it was raining hard outside, they did not offer to help take the stuff to the car or anything. Even Costco has way better customer service then them! read more

Prices and selection at the store are awesome. However consistently having to wait 15 minutes to check out is not acceptable. As other reviewers have mentioned, a better system for check out and more check out personnel are required. I went to the store today with items to purchase, and when I saw the long line I went to the TJ Maxx side of the store where at the jewelry counter there was only one other person ahead of me. When my turn came, I was told they could not check out items for me on that side of the store although I had done it before. I put my items down and left the store because my time is as valuable to me as getting a good deal on merchandise. read more
