Full of knick knacks, home accessories, crafting stuff, platewear, etc. It's a nice place to stop for kitchy stuff, if you're into that kind of thing. The people working there were SUPER friendly and one gave us a history lesson of the space - it actually used to be a bank, and the vault currently houses their Christmas decorations. Neat stuff.

I'd been through years ago, in college, but don't remember much about it back then. Now, it's a really cute town, and the main shopping area was filled with great little independent shops. We stopped in at The Blackbird, and were immediately reminded of one of our favorite places, Cedarburg, WI, where the town's old woolen mill was turned into cute little shops. It even smelled like the Cedarburg shops (they sell yummy smelling candles at the Blackbird)! In any case, the shop may not be for everyone, but my sister and I love all things bird, and there were a lot of bird themed items, from figurines to useful things like hooks and hanging racks, etc. They had some really nice area rugs and a huge variety of artwork, most with more "country" inspired themes, so again, it may not be to everyone's taste, but I'm pretty eclectic, and love antiques and sleek modern things. If my boyfriend hadn't put a moratorium on the number of tchotchkes I can bring into the house, I'd have gone to town shopping! Instead, I only purchased the cutest children's book for the children of a friend (Memoirs of a Hamster), and a Warren Kimble pillow with a rabbit on it, for a bunny loving friend's upcoming birthday. If I'm ever in Holland again, I will definitely stop in to the Blackbird, and hopefully buy something wonderful for myself!

White women before me, that girl went to the white couple and took them to her register to check out and shut her register down. I'm left standing waiting to be checked out. I'm staying at the Hampton inn. I'm an asst VP at Consumer's Energy and forgot some crochet hooks at home. The store looks tiny but has 2 additional floors of the most amazing antiques I could lay my eyes on. The service is amazing and being a pet friendly store made our life so much easier to get our pets to sit while we shopped around. This is a smaller Joann Fabrics location, they have an okay selection. Unfortunately had a poor…read morecustomer service experience today when I got to the register. Joann Fabrics runs coupons weekly that you can Google on your cell phone and have them scan the barcode. I thought I'd found the coupon before going up to the register, but it seemed I was on a pages of theirs that's coupons if you have their app. They had their 50% off one item coupon on another location online (a Joann Fabrics location). The girl at the register was being a .... well, you know the word... and stood there refusing to tell me where to get the coupon for the week or to help me find it. She was rude about the page I thought was the right one, talking to me as if I don't know what an app is. I asked her where to find the coupon, knowing there was one because I'd seen two customers before me use it. She just stood there, not moving and not saying anything, staring at me, thinking I'd just give up and not get the discount, which turned out to be $5. A customer next to me at the other register was hearing how unhelpful the clerk was being, so she said, "Here, use my phone, I have the coupon pulled up already." There are other fabrics stores around, I don't have to put up with attitude from that little girl. Way to lose customers, Joann Fabrics!
